Chapter 104 I Don't Want to Marry Clara

The truck zoomed past Elizabeth, nearly knocking her off the road.

The edge of the road was a steep slope.

Elizabeth felt a wave of despair wash over her.

She thought if she tumbled down, she'd not only lose the baby but maybe her life too. But she didn't feel any pain. When she opened her eyes, she realized she was being held by a man.

The man shielded her with his body. With each roll, he caught her until they both started tumbling down the slope. Elizabeth screamed in fear.

The man quickly grabbed a sharp rock with one hand while holding onto Elizabeth with the other, stopping their fall.

Elizabeth, still in shock and gasping for breath, looked closely and exclaimed, "Samuel, is that you? What are you doing here?"

Samuel, sweating like crazy, spoke haltingly, "Elizabeth, on my way here, I heard from Mr. Jones that you're carrying Alexander's child?"

Hearing Alexander's name, Elizabeth burst into tears, saying, "He doesn't want my baby anymore. I told him everything, but he didn't believe me. He had his bodyguards stop me from crashing his wedding. He even said if I came back, he'd take harsh action. Alexander is serious. The fact that he had a truck hit me shows his determination."

Samuel's sweat poured even more, and he weakly said, "Elizabeth, you've only been out of prison for three months. You have no idea how ruthless Alexander is. Four months ago, the head of the Windsor family was Alexander's half-brother Brent. Everyone thought Alexander would lose to Brent. But overnight, Alexander turned the tables. He killed everyone in the Windsor family who ever belittled him. None of them survived. Do you get it?"

Elizabeth nodded and replied, "I get it, Mr. Bell. Why are you sweating so much in the middle of winter? What's wrong with you?"

She looked Samuel up and down and saw that the arm he used to grab the sharp rock was bleeding badly.

"Mr. Bell, you're bleeding! Let go of that rock. Let go!" Elizabeth cried in pain.

Samuel smiled weakly and said, "I can't let go. If I do, you'll roll down, and you'll definitely lose your baby. I know you have no family left. The baby in your belly is your only family. I'm fine; it's just a flesh wound."

"Mr. Bell, thank you." Elizabeth cried uncontrollably.

She watched Samuel's hand bleed until ten minutes later when Simon arrived and rescued both Elizabeth and Samuel.

A black car was parked by the side of the road.

It was Samuel's.

Samuel had been waiting there for Simon to get back to him. Luckily, he had stopped there. Before Simon's message arrived, he saw Elizabeth being thrown onto the road by several bodyguards. Before Elizabeth could get up, a large truck came barreling towards her.

It was clearly aiming to take Elizabeth's life.

If it wasn't ordered by Alexander, who else could it be?

"Alexander is furious. He won't let Elizabeth live. He just had a truck hit her. I have to take Elizabeth and leave now," Samuel said, ignoring his mangled left hand as he got into the car and told Simon.

Simon nodded and said, "Go quickly!"

Elizabeth looked at Samuel's hand and said, "Your hand..."

"I won't die. Tear your clothes into strips to stop the bleeding. We'll deal with it once we're out of Sunwillow City," Samuel replied as he started the engine.

Elizabeth felt a bit safer.

She hadn't expected that in the two months she had been in Aldoria, she had met Alexander, met Owen, and even borrowed money from Simon.

The only person she hadn't interacted much with was Samuel.

Every time she saw Owen, she would see Samuel with him. Every time, Samuel would just smile at her without saying a word.

But today, the one who risked his life to save her was Samuel.

"Thank you, Mr. Bell," Elizabeth said silently in her heart.

Samuel comforted her, "Once we're out of Sunwillow City, we'll be safe. We can come back if we get the chance."

Elizabeth shook her head firmly and said, "I will never come back to Sunwillow City. I will never look for Alexander again. When my child is born, I'll tell him his father is dead."

Elizabeth silently thought to herself, 'Farewell, Sunwillow City! Alexander, may we never meet again! You probably don't want to see me again either, right? At this moment, you should be exchanging vows with Clara, right?'

Tears blurred her vision.

On the other end, at the wedding, things didn't go as smoothly as Elizabeth had imagined.

After having Elizabeth expelled by the bodyguards, Clara came to him, gently holding his arm and said, "Mr. Windsor, thank you for standing up for me. Elizabeth has always been jealous of me. I used to tell you, but you probably didn't believe me. Now you finally do."

Alexander's cold gaze sent a shiver down Clara's spine.

But Alexander was always this cold, and she was used to it. She forced a smile and said, "Shall we go in, Mr. Windsor?"

Up until today, Clara was about to marry Alexander, but she never dared to call him by his first name out of fear.

But what about Elizabeth, who called Alexander by his first name? She should be crushed under the truck by now, right?

Clara held Alexander's arm and followed him. Under the envious gazes of many well-wishing guests on both sides of the red carpet, Clara walked step by step towards the wedding hall.

At this moment, her heart was filled with joy.

She had finally become Alexander's wife. From now on, she would be the rightful Mrs. Windsor. In all of Sunwillow City, no other woman would be as noble as she was. Those socialites who used to belittle Clara would now have to look up to her.

Clara felt ecstatic as she walked very slowly. She wanted all the young women present to be so envious that they could barely contain themselves.

It took a long time to walk down the red carpet, a full ten minutes to reach the hall.

When the priest officiating their wedding loudly asked Alexander, "Mr. Windsor, do you take Miss Guise to be your wife? To have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, for better or for worse..."

"I do not!" Alexander interrupted the priest.
