Chapter 125 Embarrassment
On the wide, messy bed, Alexander was still lost in his dreams.
His sleeping face didn't have that sharp look it did when he was awake. Instead, he looked super handsome while asleep. His face was like a masterpiece, chiseled by God himself, and his skin had that firm texture from years of martial arts training, giving off a healthy bronze tone—sexy and rugged.
But on that bronze, rugged skin, there was a shiny trail of water.
Elizabeth quickly realized it was her drool that had unconsciously flowed from the corner of her mouth while she was asleep. She thought, 'Oh my God! This is so embarrassing!'
Elizabeth reminded herself not to be so shameless. Even if he tortured her to death, she had to keep her last bit of dignity. But somehow, she had slept comfortably in his arms, with her head resting on his chest, drooling on him.
Elizabeth wished she could find a hole to crawl into.
She wasn't the type to be cheeky or thick-skinned. She had always been proper and knew how to handle herself around people.
From childhood to adulthood, Elizabeth rarely joked with people and never acted coy.
Right now, Elizabeth had no choice but to bury her head into his chest, which woke Alexander up.
Alexander looked at Elizabeth's actions with sleepy eyes, not knowing what she was doing.
Was she being coy?
She didn't seem like the type to act like that.
Alexander lifted his arm to hug her neck, raising her chin with one hand, and asked in a lazy, magnetic voice, "Sleeping on my arm all night wasn't enough? You're burrowing into my arms again?"
Elizabeth's face turned bright red with embarrassment.
She didn't know how to explain it to him; she just couldn't face it. The tighter he lifted her chin, the more she lowered her head.
Alexander sensed something was off and asked her in a serious tone, "What's going on?"
Did she need him to stay home with her?
Alexander softened his tone and said, "I have a meeting this morning. So many people are waiting for me; I can't be late. I'll come back early tonight."
"No! No!" Elizabeth said twice in a row.
This was going to kill her with embarrassment!
She decided to just come clean and whispered, "You have my drool on you. I'm sorry."
Only then did Alexander see the trail of drool on his chest. He couldn't help but laugh, then teased her, "What? Trying to leave a mark on me? This mark can be wiped off easily. Next time, you'll have to find another way."
Elizabeth's face turned even redder.
"Get up," Alexander said.
"You get up. I'll get up after you leave," Elizabeth said, shrinking under the covers, refusing to look at Alexander.
Alexander said, "One of my legs is tangled with yours. How can I get up if you don't let go?"
Only then did Elizabeth realize that both her legs were wrapped around his. She hadn't known why she slept so comfortably. It turned out it was because of his legs.
"If you don't let go, my leg will go numb!" Alexander scolded her.
Elizabeth quickly let go, curling up like a cat under the covers.
Alexander didn't pay her any more attention, sitting up and starting to get dressed right in front of her.
Seeing Elizabeth still curled up like a ball under the covers, Alexander pulled her out and looked her up and down before saying, "Don't get out of bed today. Rest up. The servants will bring you food."
Elizabeth stayed silent.
"Did you hear me?" Alexander said coldly again.
His tone was commanding, leaving no room for her to argue.
"Yes," she said. She was at his mercy anyway, so whatever he said went.
Elizabeth just hoped he would leave the bedroom soon so she could find her clothes and quickly go check on Alice.
She hadn't seen Alice all night. How had Alice slept?
Alice was only five years old, still so young, never being away from her.
Maybe Elizabeth's expression gave away her thoughts, as she suddenly heard Alexander say, "I forgot, you haven't seen Alice all night."
After saying that, he turned and took a white shirt from the wardrobe. Without caring whether she wanted to wear it or not, he put the shirt on her, then carried her out of bed and opened the bedroom door.
Elizabeth immediately heard a child's voice, "Ma'am, have you seen my mom?"
Then a kind voice said, "Miss Windsor, come on, take another bite."
"Where's my mom? I want my mom," Alice said, trying to hold back her tears and bravely demanding.
"Your mom and dad are still sleeping. Do you want a little brother or sister?" the servant Mia Long asked with a smile.
Alice nodded, answering, "I've always wanted a little brother or sister, but my mom said I'm an only child. Can you help me get one? I kinda want a sister more."
Mia laughed, "You're so cute. I can't help you with that, but your mom and dad can fulfill that wish. They're making a brother or sister for you right now."
"Is that bad guy really my dad?" Alice asked innocently, tilting her head.
Mia said, "Of course."
Alice pouted and said, "Actually, I already saw in the car mirror that the bad guy looks just like me. I knew he was my dad, but he's very mean to my mom. She is very scared of him."
Mia fed Alice another spoonful of porridge. "You can't call your dad a bad guy. People will say you're rude."
"Then what should I call him?" Alice asked.
"Call him dad," Mia coaxed.
Being silent, Alice wasn't familiar with Alexander, so she couldn't call him dad.
Even though she kind of wanted to call him Dad, she knew it would break Elizabeth's heart.
So she didn't call him that.
"Alice," Elizabeth called from behind.
Alice turned around and saw Elizabeth and Alexander.
Elizabeth was wearing a large white shirt, her legs long and smooth, and her shoes were also very big.
But this outfit looked pretty good.
Alice ran over, asking, "Mom, this lady said you and the bad guy are making a brother or sister for me?"
