Chapter 189 Father and Daughter
Elizabeth watched Alice engrossed in her work, step by step completing her project without even realizing it.
Alice looked very accomplished, which was particularly inspiring.
Inspiring to Elizabeth.
And inspiring to Alice.
When Alice finally completed her first robot through her own efforts and perseverance, she became even more enthusiastic, wanting to assemble a second robot.
Alexander raised an eyebrow, reminding Alice, "This one is a bit more difficult than the one you just assembled."
He didn't have much hope that Alice could successfully assemble it.
After all, Alice was still a child, needing to progress from simple to complex, step by step.
However, Alice was a determined child. She raised an eyebrow and looked at Alexander, saying, "Bad dad, you really underestimate me. How about we make a bet? I can assemble this one too."
"Impossible!" Alexander scoffed disdainfully.
At that moment, the usually stern and cold Alexander, who was in his thirties, suddenly showed a childlike side, starting competing with Alice like a kid.
Elizabeth, who was outside, also wanted to know if Alice could apply what she had learned and assemble the more difficult robot, feeling nervous for Alice.
This robot was indeed more challenging than the previous one. If it had been half an hour earlier, Alice might have given up. But now, Alexander had tapped into Alice's potential. She tried several times and refused to give up, even not letting Alexander give her any hints.
By the fourth attempt, she had figured it out on her own and could even apply what she had learned.
Alice discovered that this robot could transform; it could be assembled in different ways to create different models with just a few modifications.
This discovery made Alice jump up in excitement.
She jumped and shouted, "Dad, you lost! Bad dad, you lost! I won! I won!"
After jumping, Alice suddenly threw herself into Alexander's arms, raised her soft little hand, and pinched Alexander's nose, twisting it back and forth like a switch.
"Bad dad, you lost!" Alice said, pinching Alexander's nose and looking down at him with a triumphant expression, which was really cool!
Elizabeth, who was outside, was stunned, instinctively calling out, "Alice."
Alice turned her head and saw Elizabeth outside, still pinching Alexander's nose and proudly exclaiming, "Mom, I won! I'm an inventor! I didn't let Dad give me any hints. I assembled it myself, and I made several different models!"
When Alice turned her head, Elizabeth also saw Alexander's face.
At that moment, Alexander's cold and handsome face was twisted by Alice, looking somewhat deformed, like a long-nosed Pinocchio.
Elizabeth couldn't help but laugh out loud.
After laughing, she regretted it, afraid that Alexander would break her neck.
But she saw Alexander lift Alice high, looking at her with a very loving gaze, and affectionately saying, "Great job! You're definitely my child!"
Alexander wasn't angry at all; he was very proud.
Maybe this was what it's like between a father and daughter?
He had conquered the entire family, conquering this city, and becoming the king of this land.
Yet, he was very fond of Alice.
People were so strange. Elizabeth didn't want to disturb Alexander and Alice because Alice had never been this happy. It wasn't until it was almost 9:30, and Alice was really tired from playing, that Elizabeth took her to wash up and put her in cute pajamas. Lying in bed, Alice mumbled, "Mom, I want Dad to tell me a story."
Elizabeth was silent. Before she could refuse, Alexander came over.
The stories Alexander told were different from Elizabeth's.
When Elizabeth told Alice stories, they were always gentle.
But the stories Alexander told had challenges, hardships, and battles. He told them vividly, with Alice being very engaged. It wasn't until the story reached a climax that he slowly lulled Alice to sleep like singing a lullaby.
Watching Alexander put so much effort into soothing Alice, Elizabeth felt at ease, deciding to go to the bathroom to wash up.
After all, now that she had a job, she had to go to bed early every day to ensure she had enough sleep to better focus on her work.
When she got to the bathroom, Elizabeth was stunned again.
The bathroom, which had been empty, was now filled with cosmetics, skincare products, and masks, all from top global brands, with no additives or synthetic fragrances.
Elizabeth had heard of these skincare products that were the kind of low-key luxury items relying on quality and a niche market rather than sales. When she was in Collinsport, Dorian had once rewarded her with a set of such skincare products.
It was just three simple bottles, but they cost nearly ten thousand dollars.
At that time, Dorian had rewarded Elizabeth for saving a batch of projects. Elizabeth thought it was just a slightly better brand, planning to exchange it for some affordable skincare products at the best mall in Collinsport.
But when she got to the mall, she found out that the basic skincare set was worth nearly ten thousand dollars. That time, she didn't use the skincare products but exchanged them for over ten thousand dollars.
Now, looking at the vanity filled with products, there were far more than three items.
There were thirty-piece sets.
And they were more advanced than the basic ones.
There were also more advanced makeup sets, seven-piece, and eight-piece sets.
How much did all this cost?
Elizabeth was stunned for a while before she started washing up. After washing up, she used the entire set of skincare products. Good products really made a difference.
Using these skincare products, Elizabeth felt her face was moisturized but not greasy. The comfort was something she felt from the inside out. Looking at herself in the mirror, her skin looked much better.
However, she saw Alexander in the mirror.
With the face turning red instantly, Elizabeth turned around and said weakly, "Thank you."
"Thank me for what?" Alexander asked.
"For the clothes and these skincare products," Elizabeth said hesitantly, actually wanting to ask at that moment, where was Samuel?
She was very worried about Samuel.
But she didn't say it out loud, not wanting to risk angering Alexander without getting any information about Samuel.
She couldn't read his mind.
Elizabeth looked at him with a flushed face, not knowing what to say.
Alexander didn't say anything, just picking her up and carrying her into the bedroom.
