Chapter 159 Something to Discuss with You
Alexander looked at Marcus calmly, saying, "I'm her father, so I decide her last name. You wanted to see her, right? Now that you have, it's time for her to go to preschool."
After speaking, Alexander looked at Alice, saying, "Alice, let's go. It's time for preschool."
Alice glanced at Alexander, reluctant to go with him who had just badmouthed Elizabeth.
With the face tightening, Alexander said, "Didn't I already apologize to you? Haven't you ever done anything wrong?"
Remaining silent, Alice was clever and sharp, but she couldn't out-argue Alexander who had indeed apologized, and she had to admit that.
She didn't want to go with Alexander, but she had to.
All the way, she didn't speak to Alexander until he dropped her off at the preschool entrance. Just as Alexander was about to take her to the teacher, she quickly ran into the preschool on her own.
After running a distance, Alice came back.
"What's wrong?" Alexander asked gently.
"I don't want to see you after school!" Alice pouted to say.
Alexander remained expressionless, replying, "Fine, I won't be at the school gate."
With that, he left.
That afternoon, Alice eagerly rushed to the preschool gate, being the first one there, waiting for Elizabeth to pick her up.
Since Alexander said he wouldn't be there, it must be Elizabeth coming.
However, it was Gavin who was waiting outside the preschool.
"I don't want to see you!" Alice said and stomped her foot, refusing to walk with Gavin.
Gavin laughed, "Miss Windsor, I understand you don't want to see me, and I can leave your sight immediately. But the problem is, who will drive you back to see your mom?"
Alice replied, "He can drive too!"
"Who is 'he'?" Gavin asked.
Alice shouted, "The bad guy!"
"Who's the bad guy?" Gavin held back his laughter, asking deliberately.
Alice said, "My bad dad."
Gavin raised his voice on purpose, "But I heard your dad say you don't want to see him either. So you're saying the opposite and actually want to see your dad, right?"
"Wrong! I don't want to see him at all!" Alice said.
Gavin raised an eyebrow, replying, "Then there's no other way. I'll have to drive you home to see your mom."
Alice said, "Fine then!"
She got into the car with Gavin, only to find Alexander already sitting inside.
"I told you I don't want to see you!" Alice pouted to speak, refusing to get in.
Alexander remained expressionless, saying, "Fine, you can walk home by yourself."
Keeping silent, Alice realized she couldn't outsmart Alexander or his driver.
She couldn't confront them head-on, instead of using her wits.
Standing outside the car, Alice's eyes darted around, making Gavin nervous. His intuition told him that if Alice dared to mess with Marcus, then there was nothing she wouldn't dare to do.
Gavin just wanted to stay far away.
After some thought, Alice smiled brightly, "Fine, I'll sit with you and take Gavin's car home. Is my mom waiting for me at home?"
Alexander nodded, replying, "Yes."
On the way, Gavin drove in silence, Alexander didn't speak either.
Alice wanted to ask him a few questions, like who the couple they met in the morning was and who the older man in the hospital bed was.
Seeing Alexander always silent, Alice also kept quiet.
Alexander was deep in thought.
At eleven o'clock this morning, just after finishing a meeting at the company, he received a call from his father, Felix.
"Father? What's up?" Alexander asked coldly.
"Alexander, you can't abandon Alice!" Felix said on the other end.
Alexander sneered, "My own child, whether I keep her or not, do you think you have a say in it?"
Felix's tone softened, "Alexander, I know my words don't carry weight with you, but let me tell you from my own experience. I wronged you and your mother back then, making you suffer abroad for so many years. But I had my reasons. A large family business like the Windsor family must have rules. If everyone wants control, the family business will collapse. However, even after exiling you and your mother so far away, you still came back and took control of the Windsor Group. This made me realize a fact."
"Whether illegitimate or legitimate, all Windsor family children are capable. There's no distinction. This morning, when you took Alice to the hospital to see your grandfather, I saw Alice with my own eyes. She's a little girl, but she has the same unyielding look in her eyes as you do. She is a difficult child to tame. If you don't want her now, not even giving her the family name, aren't you afraid she'll grow up to resent you? Just like you do now?"
"You're my only son, and I'm doing this for your own good. You can abandon Alice's mother, but Alice is your own child. You can't abandon her! I've discussed it with Sierra, your grandparents, and we all agree that Alice must take the Windsor name and be raised in the old house. There are many servants and nannies there, so Alice can be well taken care of."
Alexander was silent.
Felix's voice on the other end sounded older, "Alexander, your grandparents are almost ninety, and I'm over sixty. The large old house is home to the four of us elders, without a single child around. Doesn't your heart ache for us at all? Alice is your daughter. But she is also our granddaughter."
Alexander looked up at the front of the car, they having arrived home.
With Gavin opening the car door, Alexander carried Alice out.
As he held her hand and entered the elevator, he asked, "Alice, do you like the people you met this morning?"
Alice looked up at him, blinked, and thought for a moment, replying, "I don't dislike the man in the hospital bed and the other man. I don't really like the woman; she's mean."
Alexander sneered.
Of course!
Felix and Marcus were related to Alice by blood, but Sierra had no relation. Alice could tell the difference.
Alice then asked, "Who are they?"
Alexander didn't answer, just taking out the key and opening the door.
As the door opened, Elizabeth was waiting by the door. Seeing Alexander and Alice come in, Elizabeth immediately said, "You're finally back. I have something to discuss with you."
