Chapter 41 Your Acting Skills Are Really Good

From Alexander's perspective, Elizabeth seemed to be playing hard to get with Simon, and Alexander's brow furrowed involuntarily.

"Mr. Jones," Gavin said incredulously, "The Jones family's tradition is so strict, the head of the Jones family never allows any of the younger generation to have any flings or affairs outside, and Mr. Jones himself is a very disciplined person. How could he..."

Gavin glanced at Alexander and didn't dare to continue.

He originally wanted to say that this Elizabeth was really too capable.

She married Alexander, had a relationship with Mr. Tudor, and now she could even get involved with someone as disciplined and wealthy as Simon. Elizabeth was indeed quite extraordinary.

However, Gavin said nothing.

Because he saw the extremely grim expression on Alexander's face.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth and Simon were unaware that Alexander was watching them from a car not far away. She remained calm and indifferent as she looked at Simon. "Mr. Jones, please leave!" she said sternly.

Simon grabbed Elizabeth's arm again, begging, "Miss Spencer, I apologize. It was my fault. Please forgive me, okay? I sincerely want to be your friend. I never intended to treat you as a girlfriend. I just wanted to get to know you and invite you to The Jones Mansion. A genuine invitation."

Elizabeth retorted, "Invite me?"

"Yes." Simon nodded affirmatively.

Elizabeth laughed incredulously, then questioned, "Invite a woman who made a fool of herself at the Windsor family banquet, a woman so poor she doesn't even have two thousand dollars, to your wealthy mansion for a meal? Why? Can you explain?"

Simon could only repeat himself, "I apologize."

"No need. Mr. Jones, please don't bother me again," Elizabeth coldly refused once more. She added, "If you follow me again, I will consider calling the police. Sorry!"

With that, Elizabeth took the food she had bought and went to Esme's hospital room.

Simon stood there in a daze for a long time, then dialed a number. He said over the phone, "Grandpa, that girl looks very much like my aunt in the photo."

An elderly voice came from the other end. He instructed, "Bring her home. I want to see her in person. I haven't found your aunt for thirty years."

Simon was silent, unsure how to break the news to him.

"What's wrong?" Simon's grandfather continued to ask.

"I'll try to persuade her again, Grandpa," Simon said.

"She doesn't want to come?" Simon's grandfather asked again.

Simon said nothing; he didn't want to disappoint his grandfather.

But on the other end, Simon's grandfather spoke in a praising tone, "She has personality, temper, and integrity, just like someone from the Jones family. Simon, you must bring that girl over for me to see."

"Got it, Grandpa," Simon replied.

He glanced at the spot where Elizabeth had left, then drove away.

As soon as Simon left, Alexander got out of the car and walked straight to Esme's hospital room. Before he even reached the door, he heard laughter from inside.

"Elizabeth, Alexander usually visits me every noon. Why are you here today?" Esme asked happily.

"Because I made a small fortune today," Elizabeth replied with a smile.

To her, not having to pay for the camera was like striking it rich.

She had saved over a thousand dollars.

"Did the company pay you?" Esme asked.

"Not salary, just some extra income. Mom, don't think too much about it. I came today to have lunch with you. By the way, I've been eyeing the soup from the hospital entrance for a few days. It's authentic, the food they deliver is meticulously prepared and very appetizing. Try it," Elizabeth said as she opened the lunch box and scooped some food into Esme's mouth.

Esme felt completely moved by this gesture and chewed the food with great enjoyment.

Every noon, Alexander would bring her all sorts of gourmet and nutritious food, but Esme had grown tired of it.

She just wanted a bite of this simple home-cooked meal.

Today, she finally got it.

"You really care about me," Esme said sincerely.

"Mom, if you like it. I'll bring it to you every day. Anyway, I have enough to cover for our lunches," Elizabeth said with a smile.

She was genuinely happy today.

"I'll tell you a secret. I don't like the food Alexander brings from those famous chefs. I love the food you bring. From now on, let's not have Alexander bring the food. Let our Elizabeth bring it instead!" Esme said, criticizing Alexander in front of Elizabeth.

"Deal!" Elizabeth raised her hand to high-five Esme.

The two women laughed heartily.

Neither of them noticed Alexander at the door. Alexander cleared his throat lightly, and Elizabeth turned to see him.

"Alexander, you're here?" Elizabeth said sweetly.

Alexander was silent. Her smile was pure and a bit playful, very lively, showing no signs of acting in front of Esme.

"How come you have time to accompany Mother today?" Alexander asked in a gentle tone.

"Elizabeth said she got some extra money today, over a thousand dollars. Alexander, tell me. Did you give Elizabeth the pocket money? Let me tell you, a thousand dollars is not enough! You should give Elizabeth twenty thousand dollars a month for pocket money!" Esme said, tapping Alexander.

She thought Alexander was too careless and didn't consider Elizabeth's feelings.

Hearing this, Alexander's heart grew even darker.

He thought, 'Elizabeth gained some money.Over a thousand dollars?Where did this money come from? She must have gotten it from playing hard to get with Simon, right?'

Elizabeth and Alexander spent about twenty minutes with Esme, acting very loving and sweet.

From time to time, Elizabeth would rest her head on Alexander's arm, acting coquettishly.

This made Esme very satisfied.

However, once they left the hospital room and the hospital, they became strangers again.

This time, Alexander was colder than ever before.

Elizabeth didn't know what had upset him again. She didn't dare to ask, nor did she want to. As soon as she left the hospital, she headed straight for the bus stop.

But Alexander grabbed her arm and said in an icy tone, "Today I realized your acting skills are superb. Compared to you, Clara is so naive. She's no match for you! I even suspect that the last time you were kidnapped by Clara, it was all a play you orchestrated, wasn't it?"

"What are you talking about?" Elizabeth asked.

"Don't hurt Clara! She's not someone you can mess with!" Alexander said, then turned and got into his car, leaving.

Elizabeth was silent.

At that moment, her phone rang. She picked it up and answered, "Hello?"

"Elizabeth, it's Clara," Clara said from the other end.
