Chapter 223 Already a Junior Leader
"I don't like it," Elizabeth said somewhat insincerely.
She felt as if he had seen through her thoughts. She had never lived a life of luxury; even having enough to eat was a problem, let alone owning any jewelry.
The only piece of jewelry she had was given to her by Esme that she had placed in Esme's tomb.
To say that women don't like jewelry was a lie.
Elizabeth was an ordinary person, so she liked it too.
Alexander held her in his arms, his slightly bearded, stern lips getting closer to her. His voice was low and rich, "If you don't like this bracelet, why are you so enchanted by it? You're not being honest."
Elizabeth remained silent.
"If you're not honest, do you know what kind of punishment I'll use on you?" Alexander's voice was cold. Yet it was also extremely seductive.
Elizabeth's mind was in turmoil because of him, so she obediently replied, "I like it. Can you put me down now?"
Alexander let out a cold laugh, not saying anything but carrying her back to his bedroom.
His bedroom had the taste of a successful man, exuding the aura of a mature man everywhere.
In this atmosphere, Elizabeth felt even more disoriented, even not know when he had laid her down on his big bed.
He pinned her hands to either side, looking down at her, questioning, "If you like this rare treasure so much, why did you return it to me as soon as you left the old house? Do you like the bracelet but don't want to be Mrs. Windsor? Or do you just like the bracelet but hate the people of Windsor Manor? But you know the people of Windsor Manor like Alice, so you deliberately returned the bracelet to me, playing hard to get?"
"No, no, no!" Elizabeth suddenly cried out, her voice being surprisingly loud.
She tried to break free from him but didn't have the strength. She simply burst into tears, crying out to him, "I like this bracelet, what's wrong with that? I didn't steal it! Your family willingly gave it to me! What did I do wrong? I wanted to return it to you because I didn't want you to misunderstand me! Can't I have my dignity?"She continued, "From the first time I met you six years ago and made a deal with you, you've always doubted my character, suspected I had ulterior motives. I want to ask you, what did I do to make you doubt me like this? I'm a person, I have my dignity! If it weren't for Alice being my concern, I'd rather be dead! Alexander, I don't owe you anything. I even saved your life once!"
Before Elizabeth could finish her words, Alexander's lips covered hers.
This time he was very gentle, very healing. As she kept crying, he kept kissing her tears.
He didn't comfort her, just kissing her tears.
She poured out all the grievances she had accumulated over the years that night.
She was stubborn, unyielding, not wanting to submit to anyone, so what?
In the end, he melted her bit by bit, making her so exhausted that she fell asleep in his arms. Watching her sleep soundly, Alexander kissed her forehead deeply, then turned off the lights and went to sleep.
The next day.
Elizabeth and Alexander woke up at the same time.
She had no clothes on, with the nightgown she had been wearing thrown on the floor by him and being dirty.
She sat up, looking at herself. The only thing on her body was the crystal bracelet on her wrist, which really matched her delicate skin.
Pouting, she said to Alexander, who was leaning against the bed, "This bracelet is mine! I can do whatever I want with it!"
Alexander's voice was thick with morning grogginess, "You can even show it off in Alice's parent group chat."
Elizabeth asked, "What did you say?"
"All the other kids' mothers have joined the class group chat. If you don't join, you'll be out of place. I'll take some time in the next few days to go shopping for jewelry with you. You can flaunt your wealth in Alice's class group chat." Alexander said.
He got up naturally in front of Elizabeth, getting out of bed, and looking for clothes to wear.
She covered her eyes in embarrassment.
Alexander pulled her hands away, saying, "Is there anything you haven't seen? Do you want to take a closer look now?"
Elizabeth said, "You're shameless!"
Alexander let out a cold laugh, picking her up from the bed, and forcibly putting one of his shirts on her. Only then did she, like a deserter, flee from his bedroom back to her own.
Today, Elizabeth had to go to work early, so she needed to carefully choose her clothes. After putting on her pajamas in her bedroom, Elizabeth went to the walk-in closet to pick out her outfit.
For the past two weeks, she had dressed very conservatively and plainly. That was because she had just joined the company, not wanting to attract attention. But now it was different. Elizabeth was now the lead designer, with assistant designers under her. At the very least, her attire had to reflect her position.
So, early in the morning, Elizabeth carefully selected an outfit that was neither too flashy nor too plain but had a certain taste. Compared to the previous week, her outfit looked much better.
Even Alice, who had just woken up, couldn't help but compliment Elizabeth's outfit, "Mom, you look so beautiful today."
Elizabeth cupped Alice's face, saying, "Thank you, sweetheart."
"Mom, do you want to join my classmate Susan's mom's group?" Alice asked again, hoping Elizabeth would join so she could video chat with Susan in the future.
"Sure, I'll apply to join now," Elizabeth said as she submitted the application, leaving the rest to be approved.
After breakfast, they followed their usual routine of dropping Alice off at kindergarten and then taking Elizabeth to work.
On Monday, the company's employees arriving early, Elizabeth was no longer a new employee. Especially in the past two weeks, she had been invited to meals by Robert several times, even having managed to get Harper kicked out of the company. So when Elizabeth got on the elevator, a few colleagues recognized her.
However, the colleagues didn't seem to have any intention of greeting her.
Elizabeth didn't mind. She was naturally quiet and could endure loneliness. Even if no one talked to her all day, she could live comfortably.
After glancing at Elizabeth, the colleagues resumed their conversation.
"Have you heard any news? What's going on with that woman? She seems to have been quiet lately."
"Which woman?"
"The one Mr. Windsor brought back from out of town. There hasn't been any news about her recently. A month ago, it was all the buzz, saying that woman would definitely be tortured to death by Mr. Windsor. Why haven't we heard anything lately?"
"I'm curious to know."
"I heard that woman used to specialize in seducing heirs of wealthy families."
Elizabeth remained silent. Were they talking about her again?
