Chapter 81 Saved Owen's Life

Elizabeth stumbled out of the private room and took the elevator down, her emotions hitting her like a freight train. She almost crumpled to the floor.

Tears kept pouring down her face.

Owen was the last bit of warmth in her heart, and she never thought he'd mock her like that. She walked over to a trash can, tossed the syringe filled with chicken blood into it, and wandered out in a daze.

The moment she stepped outside, nausea hit her, and she leaned over a flower bed in the shadows to throw up.

Just as she finished, she overheard a voice.

Elizabeth followed the sound and saw a guy in black talking on the phone in the shadows. "Mr. Green, you sure Owen's in the top private room?"

She couldn't hear the other side of the conversation, but the guy in black said, "I can get that door open in a second, don't worry. Just make sure the ten million hits my account."

Elizabeth froze.

Seeing the guy finish his call and start smoking while checking his gear, she turned and bolted back into the club, took the elevator to the top floor, and rushed to Owen's private room.

She pounded on the door, yelling, "Open up, Mr. Tudor, please open the door!"

Inside, the thirty men and three women had calmed down a bit after the initial shock. One guy was still mocking Owen, saying, "Mr. Tudor, you were scared to death just now. It's not easy to get blood from someone with AIDS unless she has it herself. But that's unlikely; she was in prison for two years. If she had AIDS, she would've been isolated long ago!"

Owen rubbed his chin, angrily saying, "Yeah, damn it! I was fooled by that bitch!"

Just then, there was a knock on the door.

When Owen heard it was Elizabeth, he smirked and said, "Elizabeth often plays hard to get. How dare she come back! Since she came back on her own, she can't blame me for being ruthless!"

Samuel frowned, clearly not happy with Owen's attitude. "Owen!"

Owen got up to open the door. When he did, there was Elizabeth.

Owen immediately cursed, "You bitch, pretending to be innocent and strong!"

"Mr. Tudor, come with me, hurry!" Elizabeth grabbed Owen and tried to pull him out.

"What are you doing! I think you're dirty!"

"Come with me, Mr. Tudor, there's no time, hurry..." Before Elizabeth could finish, she saw the guy in black rushing down the hallway.

He was holding a sharp, short knife and aimed it straight at Owen's chest.

"Mr. Tudor, watch out!" In a moment of desperation, Elizabeth raised her arm to shield the terrified Owen.

Owen narrowly escaped.

Elizabeth's arm started bleeding badly.

The guy in black missed and went for another stab. Elizabeth raised her right arm again to shield Owen.

The usually arrogant Owen was stunned. If it weren't for Elizabeth blocking two stabs for him, he'd be dead by now.

Despite the unbearable pain, Elizabeth still managed to remind Owen, "Run, Mr. Tudor, run!"

Owen took off running.

The guy in black was after Owen, so he naturally chased him, leaving Elizabeth collapsed on the ground.

"Elizabeth! Elizabeth!" Samuel dropped to one knee, holding Elizabeth close. Tears streamed down his face. "Why are you so foolish, silly girl!"

"Mr. Bell, quick, tie up my arm. I can't lose blood; I'm pregnant. I need to keep my baby." With that, Elizabeth fainted in Samuel's arms.

Samuel turned to the stunned crowd in the room and yelled, "What are you all staring at? Call the police now!"

Then he scooped Elizabeth up and ran out.

When Elizabeth came to, she was being wheeled into the operating room in an ambulance. She grabbed the doctor's hand. "Don't put me under anesthesia."

The doctor hesitated.

"I'm pregnant. I want to keep my baby. I have no family left. My baby is my only family. Please, don't give me anesthesia," Elizabeth pleaded, tears streaming down her face.

Samuel stayed silent.

The doctor asked, "Can you handle the pain during the procedure?"

Elizabeth nodded firmly. "I can!"

"Alright," the doctor said, and they pushed her into the operating room.

Outside, Samuel could hear Elizabeth's heart-wrenching screams.

Over an hour later, a pale, exhausted, and sweaty Elizabeth was wheeled out.

Samuel was waiting for her.

"Thank you, Mr. Bell. You can go now," Elizabeth said weakly.

Samuel shook his head. "How can that be? You just had surgery, and you're still pregnant. You need someone to take care of you."

Elizabeth looked at him sadly. "Mr. Bell, what's your angle? What do you need from me? Or are you just playing with me?"

Samuel was silent.

Given his history with Owen, it was understandable for Elizabeth to be suspicious.

He swallowed and said, "Don't worry, I won't ask for anything in return."

With that, Samuel pushed Elizabeth into the ward.

He hired a nurse to take care of her and visited the hospital every day to check on her. Because she hadn't been given anesthesia and the weather was mild, her wounds healed quickly. She could have been discharged in three days.

But Samuel insisted she stay a few more days.

During this time, Owen came to visit. His face was full of remorse. "Elizabeth, I'm sorry."

Elizabeth asked with a faint smile, "Did you catch the killer?"

"Yeah. It was a hitman hired by Wesley. Wesley paid him ten million dollars just to take my life. Luckily, you blocked two stabs for me, or I'd be dead now." Owen sat by Elizabeth's bed, arranging the flowers he had just bought, and spoke sincerely to her.

"Saving your life repays the help you gave me," Elizabeth said, looking out the window instead of at Owen.

"Elizabeth," Owen called.

"What?"

"Will you forgive me?" Owen asked.

"I never blamed you," Elizabeth smiled.

"Will you still consider me a friend?" Owen asked again.

"No."

Owen was silent.

After a long pause, he anxiously and sincerely grabbed Elizabeth's hand. "Please, Elizabeth, give me a chance to take care of you for the rest of your life. I'll be good to you and your baby. I'll treat your baby as my own."

Elizabeth was silent.

Suddenly, the door to the ward burst open, and four people walked in, including Owen's parents and his grandfather, Marcus.

The last person to enter was Alexander.
