Chapter 179 Clever Tactics in Pursuing a Wife
Clara's speech was slurred, as if she had an extra tongue in her mouth, probably from being slapped by Sarah and Declan at The Windsor Manor.
Alexander couldn't help but sneer inwardly. Clara had been beaten like this, yet she still managed to apologize.
While listening to Clara's apology, Alexander saw Alice leading Elizabeth out of the closet with a cunning and excited smile on her face.
Alexander glanced outside, seeing that Elizabeth and Alice had gone to the dining room.
Impatiently, he said to Clara, "What do you want to say?"
"Mr. Windsor, not only did my grandfather beat me severely at The Windsor Manor, but he also punished me harshly at home, making me repent. I know I was wrong. I will never fight with anyone in public again. As a socialite, I shouldn't have done such a disgraceful thing. I won't dare to do it again. Please forgive me this time."
In a cold and disdainful tone, Alexander asked, "You know you were wrong?"
Clara, when arrogant, was more arrogant than any woman, almost to the point of stupidity. When humble, she was utterly without dignity.
Such a Clara still dreamed of marrying him.
She was truly delusional with girlish fantasies!
If it weren't for Declan's intervention, Clara would have been dead many times over.
Alexander couldn't be bothered to listen to such a foolish, unprincipled, and groveling woman.
To be honest, if what happened today at The Windsor Manor had happened to any other woman—being humiliated and publicly cuckolded—they would have gone mad and fought back. What did Clara do wrong?
It was laughable.
"You don't need to apologize to me!" With that, Alexander was about to hang up the phone when he heard Clara urgently say, "Wait, please wait, Mr. Windsor, I have something else to tell you."
Alexander said, "Speak!"
"Mr. Windsor, I know that child is yours. I can tell you love her very much and won't give up custody. But her mother, Elizabeth, did steal a priceless bracelet from your mother. If you don't believe me, you can ask Elizabeth right now. She won't be able to produce the bracelet. She may have had your child, but she never truly loved you, having ulterior motives from the start. Even if she bore you a child, she never genuinely loved you. She had intentions against you. If you don't believe me, you can ask her now if she still has the bracelet."
Clara knew better than anyone that during the years the Guise family relentlessly pursued Elizabeth, she moved several times. From the far north to the far south, from the remote northwest to the remote southeast, each move costs money.
And Elizabeth had Alice and the paralyzed Samuel to care for.
Where did she get the money to sustain herself all these years?
Elizabeth must have sold that bracelet!
Alexander merely sneered, hanging up the phone without hesitation, and immediately dialing another number.
Gavin, on his way home, saw Alexander's call and answered immediately, "Mr. Windsor, what can I do for you?"
"The photos," Alexander said.
"What photos?" Gavin didn't understand for a moment, asking.
Alexander calmly said, "The photos of the woman with the swollen face that Alice asked you to take at the old house."
Falling silent, Gavin remembered.
He immediately said to Alexander, "Mr. Windsor, please wait, I'll send them to you right away."
"Come over!" Alexander said.
Gavin asked, "What did you say?"
"Come over yourself!"
Gavin fell silent.
After a moment, he realized, "You want me to bring the photos on my phone to Miss Windsor in person?"
Actually, Gavin wanted to say, bring them to Alice's mother, Elizabeth, but he feared Alexander would tear him apart, so he didn't.
But Alexander didn't respond and had already hung up. Gavin quickly turned around and headed back, arriving at Alexander's residence ten minutes later. He parked, went upstairs, and rang the doorbell.
The maid, Mia, opened the door for him.
Mia led Gavin directly to the dining room, where Elizabeth and Alice were still eating the eggs Mia had cooked, each with a small bowl of soup beside them. Gavin didn't see Alexander.
"Gavin." Seeing Gavin arrive, Alice was overjoyed. Her anticipation had come true. She jumped off her high stool, ran to Gavin, and asked, "Gavin, quickly show my mom the photos on your phone. See if that stupid woman looks like a balloon."
Gavin immediately took out his phone, showing Elizabeth the various angles of Clara's photos.
Elizabeth, who usually managed her expressions well and didn't show her emotions, suddenly laughed when she saw Clara's condition.
She hated the Guise family, especially Clara.
She had never had the chance, but if she did, she would never let Clara go. She never expected Clara to be in such a sorry state before she had the chance, only regretting not being there herself.
Seeing Elizabeth laugh so happily, Gavin immediately said, "Mrs. Windsor, you have no idea how many tricks Miss Windsor has up her sleeve. Her two-pronged approach is even better than Mr. Windsor's."
"Mom, how about it? I'm amazing, right? I won't let any woman take bad daddy away." Alice, boasting, proudly lifted her chin and looked at Elizabeth.
At that moment, Elizabeth was very worried about Alice.
Worried that Clara would hate Alice.
But Elizabeth felt very relieved seeing Alice bravely defending herself and seeing Clara's head with patches of missing hair, her face swollen and bloody.
She gently hugged Alice, praising, "Yes, you are mommy's good child. Mommy is proud of you. From now on, we'll join forces and be invincible!"
Gavin watched from the side, finding the scene between Elizabeth and Alice sweet.
Turning his head, he saw Alexander standing in the hallway outside the study, watching them, which Gavin found amusing.
He fearlessly sent a text message to Alexander.
[Mr. Windsor, you are truly skilled at making your wife and daughter happy. So subtle, you really know how to pursue your wife.]
Alexander remained silent.
Did he pursue her?
No way!
