Chapter 144 You Don't Mind Me?

Elizabeth's voice was low, with a hint of reluctant laziness in her struggle, "Actually, sinking like this isn't so bad. I misunderstood you before. At least you're not that cruel to Alice. It makes me content to see Alice able to go to preschool and receive an education like other kids. I don't want anything else. From now on, I'll do whatever you ask. I'll follow your arrangements for the rest of my life."

After speaking, she nestled her head into Alexander's chest.

What she really wanted to say was, 'If you want me to accompany any man, I'll do it. If you want me to be your sex partner for life, I'll do it. From now on, I won't struggle anymore.'

She was tired, mentally exhausted and physically drained.

No matter how much she struggled, she couldn't escape his control, so why bother?

She might as well stay in his arms, being a bad woman who follows her heart, and enjoying that fleeting, moth-to-flame happiness.

His chest was firm and broad, very warm, full of strength.

Elizabeth rubbed against his chest, as if trying to find a comfortable position.

The desire in Alexander's chest surged to his head, but at that moment, the driver, Gavin, was also staring wide-eyed, looking back through the rearview mirror.

Their gaze met, and Alexander said coldly, "Do you want to have your salary deducted?"

Gavin asked, "Mr. Windsor, what did you say?"

"Be careful with your gaze!"

Gavin immediately turned away his eyes and focused on the road ahead, saying, "I'm sorry, Mr. Windsor. You and Mrs. Windsor seem very affectionate towards each other."

He spoke so earnestly, it didn't seem like a flattery at all.

Elizabeth's face flushed as she hid in Alexander's arms.

She stayed nestled in his arms until Gavin drove her to Alexander's place, Alexander carrying her upstairs.

Not far away, in the shadows, Clara's eyes gleamed with malice. She gritted her teeth and said, "Elizabeth! Why are you so lucky? Why couldn't I kill you in six years? If it weren't for you, I would have married Alexander six years ago, and our child would be in preschool by now. But six years have passed, and you're still alive, with my man still holding you. You deserve to die!"

Clara cried hysterically, like a madwoman.

Meanwhile, after Alexander brought Elizabeth upstairs, he calmly said to her, "Get some rest. Remember to eat more at lunch. At four in the afternoon, I'll have Gavin come to pick you up."

Elizabeth replied, "Okay."

After a pause, she asked, "Am I going to your company again?"

Alexander replied indifferently, "No."

"Oh." She didn't ask further, too lazy to care.

Wherever he wanted to take her, it didn't matter.

As long as Alice could go to school and stay alive.

Nothing else mattered to Elizabeth.

Coming to terms with this, Elizabeth felt more at ease. After Alexander left, she lazily rolled around on Alexander's big bed, sometimes sleeping, sometimes lying across it.

When she couldn't sleep anymore, she got up to take a bath.

His bathtub was unusually large, with all the amenities, far more luxurious than any high-end spa. Elizabeth lay alone in the huge bathtub, sitting on Alexander's special bath seat, and enjoying the gentle warm water blowing from the bottom of the tub.

It felt like a hot spring.

She became even more relaxed and lazy, closing her eyes and quietly enjoying it.

She had no idea that Alexander was watching everything from his office.

He didn't intend to spy on her.

He just wanted to check if she was resting as told, but accidentally saw this scene.

Elizabeth lay in the bathtub for about half an hour before coming out, dripping with water.

She walked barefoot on his carpet, back and forth in the bedroom, without even putting on a bathrobe or using a towel to dry off, as if she were admiring his bedroom.

After a while, she casually opened his wardrobe, taking out one of his shirts, and putting it on.

Alexander couldn't help but laugh in his office.

She had developed a habit of wearing his white shirts!

But she did look particularly charming in his shirt. He watched as she walked to the glass sunroom balcony, lying on the wicker chair, swaying.

She looked lazy and peaceful.

Like a well-behaved cat used to being pampered.

Alexander, watching everything on his computer in the office, couldn't bring himself to turn off the monitor.

Elizabeth lay on the wicker chair for a while before returning to the big bed, wearing his shirt and continuing to sleep.

Until lunchtime, the maid Mia knocked on the door, saying, "Mrs. Windsor, it's time to eat."

"Okay," Elizabeth lazily replied.

Her hair was still a bit damp, and she was wearing his men's shirt. On her feet were his dark gray house slippers, which fit him perfectly but looked like a child wearing an adult's shoes on Elizabeth, making her appear delicate and cute.

Mia smiled and said, "Mrs. Windsor, please sit down and eat. I'll help you dry your hair. After lunch, you can sleep a bit more. Before you sleep, I'll apply some medicine for you."

"Okay, thank you," Elizabeth obediently replied.

Lunch was light but delicious. Elizabeth ate quite a bit, then continued to sleep until four in the afternoon when Gavin arrived on time to pick her up, taking her to a VIP room in a high-end dress shop.

Alexander, dressed in a suit, was sitting there with his long legs crossed, flipping through style catalogs.

Elizabeth wasn't stupid. She immediately knew Alexander was buying her a dress, approaching Alexander and asking obediently, "Are you taking me to meet someone tonight?"

Is it starting already?

She suddenly felt nervous.

"You've met him, Gideon," Alexander said.

Gideon?

Elizabeth asked softly, "Is he the man I saw in your office yesterday afternoon?"

Gideon had even spoken to her.

"Yes," Alexander replied.

Elizabeth blurted out, "That man seems very picky. Won't he mind me?"
