Chapter 319 Wishful Thinking

Alexander asked, "What?"

Gavin suddenly closed his mouth again.

He had blurted it out without thinking, only to realize Elizabeth was present. These matters couldn't be discussed in front of her.

During his investigation into the relationship between Elizabeth's mother and the Guise Family, there were many things Gavin wasn't sure if Elizabeth knew.

"It's nothing, Mr. Windsor," Gavin said solemnly.

With that, he focused on driving and said no more.

Alexander didn't press Gavin further.

Elizabeth could tell that Gavin had something to say to Alexander but hesitated because she was there.

She was always perceptive and understanding, so she didn't ask anything.

She continued to look up at Alexander. "After the family dinner, can I go back to my hometown?"

He had promised her a few days ago, so he shouldn't go back on his word.

Alexander nodded. "Yes."

"Thank you." Elizabeth lowered her head slightly and said no more.

In truth, she felt a bit embarrassed, thinking it was ridiculous to suspect he would dispose of her.

But then again, it wasn't entirely her fault!

After all, Alexander was a man who killed without mercy!

"I do kill without mercy, but those people deserved it," Alexander suddenly said.

"What?" Elizabeth looked at Alexander, stunned.

Gavin, in the front, couldn't help but laugh.

Alexander and Elizabeth were truly a perfect match.

They weren't talkative.

Yet, they both understood each other well.

Even though Elizabeth didn't say much, Alexander could usually guess what she was thinking.

"We're home!" Alexander coldly reminded Elizabeth.

Elizabeth's face instantly turned red.

Gavin parked the car, opened the door, and they went upstairs together.

As soon as they entered the house, Alice ran out. "Mommy, Mommy! Guess what I found when I got home today."

Today, Gavin had picked her up early from kindergarten. Alice was quite upset and argued with Gavin, "Why did you pick me up? Why didn't Mommy or Daddy come?"

"Because your mommy and daddy are dating, and you can't be around," Gavin said bluntly, teasing Alice.

Hearing that Elizabeth and Alexander were dating, Alice immediately smiled. "I love it when Mommy and Daddy are dating."

Alright, Gavin had forgotten that Alice was a fan of Elizabeth.

He continued to tease Alice, "Today, your daddy is taking your mommy to buy pretty clothes, but not for you!"

Sure enough, Alice got upset.

She wasn't mad at Alexander for not buying her clothes, but mad at Gavin.

All the way home, Gavin tried to talk to her and play with her, but Alice resolutely ignored him.

"Alice, if you keep ignoring me, I won't take you upstairs to see your surprise," Gavin said, keeping her in suspense after they got out of the car.

"What surprise?" Alice immediately brightened up.

"Come on; you'll see when we get upstairs."

Once upstairs, Alice saw her surprise as soon as she entered the house.

She happily waited for Elizabeth and Alexander to come back.

Now, Alice looked up at Elizabeth's face, waiting for her to guess.

Elizabeth smiled easily. "Let me guess; there are a lot of pretty clothes in the closet for you, right?"

Alice was stunned. "Mommy, how did you know?"

"Because she's your mother!" Alexander said.

"Mommy, you also have a lot of pretty clothes. Come on; help me pick which one looks best on me." Alice pulled Elizabeth towards the closet.

That evening, except for dinner time, Elizabeth and Alice spent the entire time in the closet.

Although she was five or twenty-five, there was a natural inclination to love beauty.

Even though Elizabeth acted like she didn't like wearing flashy clothes at the Chanel dress shop, at that moment, in her own closet with Alice, she didn't care about anything else.

The closet in this house was big enough, so they posed in various ways, imitating models' walks.

When they got tired, they sat on the floor.

Standing outside the glass, watching all this, Alexander suddenly realized he seemed to have two daughters.

He couldn't help but stop and watch for a while.

Elizabeth was indeed very reserved and self-controlled in front of him.

But in other aspects, like at the company or at this moment with Alice, she was much more relaxed.

Unconsciously, Alexander stood outside the closet door watching Elizabeth and Alice for a long time. It wasn't until his phone rang that he moved to the top floor to take the call.

The call was from Gavin. "Mr. Windsor, we've been investigating Mrs. Windsor's relationship with the Guise Family these past few days. My men have found some old rumors."

Alexander asked calmly, "Is it about Elizabeth's mother and Oliver?"

He had already guessed, but this matter was too important to allow any mistakes.

"Mr. Windsor, how did you know?"

Alexander didn't answer, only telling Gavin, "Keep investigating until you have the most solid evidence."

"Understood, Mr. Windsor!"

After hanging up, Alexander sat alone on the top floor for a long time, lost in thought.

It wasn't until late at night that Alexander came down from the top floor. By then, Alice was already asleep, but Elizabeth was still busy drawing in the study.

Since getting this job and with the improved work environment, Elizabeth had become a workaholic.

It seemed like she didn't know what fatigue was.

It was already eleven at night, but she was still working hard.

Did the company know she was working overtime at home?

Would they pay her for the overtime?

Elizabeth was both foolish and naive!

Alexander stared coldly at Elizabeth who seemed so perceptive and calm at times.

How could she be so foolish and unable to account for things in this aspect?

Alexander reached out and turned off the light.

Elizabeth was nervous, "What are you doing?"

Without a word, Alexander gathered her drawings from the table. Elizabeth was speechless for a moment, just watching him.

After organizing her drawings, he bent down and picked her up. Elizabeth immediately understood, and at the same time, her face turned red.

"Didn't we just make love yesterday?" she mumbled.

"Are you doubting my stamina?"

"No. I... I'm just a bit exhausted."

She didn't doubt his stamina at all, but she was very aware of her own.

Alexander snorted, "Since you're well aware of your stamina, why are you staying up late? If you don't care about your own body, I'll care about it!"

Elizabeth was silent.
