Chapter 95 Let Me Tell You a Huge Secret

"Elizabeth," Simon stammered, clearly at a loss for words.

"Mr. Jones, are we like best buds now or something? Why are you showing up at my place?" Elizabeth chuckled, eyeing Simon. "Okay, I borrowed money from you once, which wasn't cool. I've already apologized for that. What more do you want?"

"I asked to borrow money from you just once, and not only did you refuse, but you keep bothering me. Fine, I can overlook that, but then you let your sister humiliate me, and even your grandfather publicly embarrassed me. Simon, have I wronged you somehow?"

"Elizabeth, please, just hear me out," Simon pleaded.

"Fine! Speak, go ahead," Elizabeth snapped, too angry to argue further.

"I have an aunt, Donna Jones," Simon began.

"And what does that have to do with me?"

"My aunt left home thirty years ago after a fight with my grandparents. She never came back. Our Jones family has been searching for her ever since. We don't know if she's dead or alive," Simon's tone was somber.

"Your family lost someone thirty years ago, and you think I kidnapped her? I'm a woman, sorry, I only seduce men, I'm not interested in women! Get out of my way!"

"You look a lot like my aunt," Simon said.

"Bullshit!" Elizabeth snapped, "If I really looked like someone from the Jones family, I'd get plastic surgery!"

Simon fell silent.

Looking at the strong-willed Elizabeth in front of him, Simon couldn't shake the feeling she had some connection to Donna.

When Donna left home, Simon hadn't been born yet, but he often heard Declan talk about how Donna was born to Declan and his lover.

His grandmother, Ellen Jones, had once scolded Donna, saying, "You and your mother are both lowlifes, born lowly, with no trace of the Jones family's grace."

Donna had retorted, "I never cared to be a Jones family lady!" Then she left home and was never heard from again.

Ellen and Declan often regretted it.

Donna's biological mother, Declan's lover, also fell ill from the grief of Donna's disappearance and passed away not long after.

Before she died, she revealed a shocking secret.

She held Ellen's hand and said, "Do you remember when we gave birth together? Your baby was stillborn."

Ellen, sensing something was wrong, urgently asked, "What do you mean?"

Declan's lover, filled with remorse, said, "Your child didn't die. I swapped her with my stillborn baby and raised her as my own. The girl you scolded as a lowlife is actually your biological daughter. Please, find her and bring her back. She is your daughter."

After saying this, Declan's lover passed away.

The Jones family was in an uproar.

Ellen cried every day and eventually moved into a Christian community, praying for her lost daughter's safety.

Even now, thirty years later, Donna still hadn't been found, and no one knew if she was even alive. Donna was so stubborn that she'd rather beg on the streets than go back to the Jones family and be called a disgrace. Elizabeth not only looked like Donna but had a similar fiery personality.

Hearing Simon's story about Donna, Elizabeth felt a wave of sadness she couldn't quite explain.

Esme was a tragic figure.

Donna was also a tragic figure.

Elizabeth's tone softened. "I'm sorry, Mr. Jones. Your aunt's story is really sad, but it has nothing to do with me. I'm only twenty; I can't be your aunt. You might think I'm her daughter, but that's impossible! My mom was a farmer, very old-fashioned. She passed away recently. Even if my mom was your aunt, she's gone now. And even if I were part of the Jones family, I'm sorry, Mr. Jones, I could never acknowledge someone like your grandfather. So, please, don't come looking for me again. I'm about to leave Aldoria."

"I know you're leaving, but where can you go? You have no money, nothing, and you're pregnant. Where can you go?" Simon blocked her path, his voice full of concern.

"How do you know so much?" Elizabeth asked, puzzled.

"It was Samuel," Simon admitted. "Samuel planned to take some money and leave with you, but his parents took back all his credit and bank cards before he could. He had no money, so he came to me and asked to borrow five million dollars. He said he wanted to take you away because he couldn't stand seeing you suffer in Aldoria anymore."

He added, "Elizabeth, compared to Owen, Samuel is a good man. If you really are my family, as your brother, I have to consider whether the man you're with is reliable. Samuel truly cares about you. Elizabeth, I won't stop you from leaving, but give me your contact information. If you ever need help, let me know, and I'll help you. I'll give Samuel a ten-million-dollar check to take you away."

Elizabeth was taken aback. She never expected Samuel to be so sincere. She bit her lip and replied, "I don't have any contact information. I smashed my phone. Please tell Samuel I appreciate his kindness, but I won't rely on anyone in the future. You can go now."

"Elizabeth."

"If you don't leave, I'll close the door!" Elizabeth suddenly stepped back, closed the door to her small apartment, and drew the curtains. No matter how much Simon called from outside, she didn't open the door.

Simon stayed outside for two hours, but Elizabeth didn't make a sound. Eventually, he left, disappointed.

Hearing no noise outside, Elizabeth opened the curtains and saw that Simon was indeed gone. She sat quietly in her rented room for another three hours until dusk. Then she opened the door again.

When she opened the door, she saw Clara standing there with a big smile.

"Are you leaving? Before you go, I have to tell you a very big secret," Clara said.
