Chapter 255 TV Drama

Elizabeth turned around and saw a face that seemed both familiar and unfamiliar.

The woman was dressed in very expensive clothes, carrying herself with an air of superiority.

Elizabeth looked at her calmly and asked, "May I ask who you are?" She searched her memory but couldn't recall whose mother this woman was.

"Stop pretending! You've talked to me several times at the preschool. Every time, it's your daughter taking my daughter's toys, and you returning them. Now you're acting like you don't know us!" The woman said.

Elizabeth remembered. The woman in front of her was Anouk Smith, the mother of Alice's classmate, Daphne Smith.

Daphne always liked to give her toys to Alice, even when Alice didn't want them. While the two children sharing toys showed they understood sharing, Anouk insisted that Alice was taking Daphne's toys to keep for herself. She had approached Elizabeth twice about it, and each time, Elizabeth returned the toys without much thought.

She had only spoken to Anouk twice, both times briefly to return the toys. How could she remember so clearly?

With this reminder, Elizabeth remembered.

Her face was swollen from being slapped, and she didn't want any more trouble, so she calmly asked, "Is there something you need from me?"

Alice quietly reminded Elizabeth, "Mom, Daphne's mom looks really mean, but don't be afraid. If she dares to be rude to you, I'll help you fight her."

Elizabeth scolded, "Alice, you can't say that!"

Alice fell silent.

However, she stood like a brave little soldier, glaring at Anouk.

Before Alexander left on his business trip, he had told Alice, "Alice, you must protect your mom at home."

Anouk, fiddling with her freshly done nails, said nonchalantly, "Ever since we paid that $50,000 in the group, I haven't seen your car around. And your clothes today look quite rough. Don't tell me you sold all your belongings just to scrape together the $50,000 and you're another poor person pretending to be rich. And don't tell me that the man who drives you and your daughter to preschool every day is someone you hired! Did you fire him because you couldn't afford him anymore?"

Elizabeth remained silent.

Before Elizabeth could respond, Alice, holding her hand, spoke up first, "You must be watching too many TV dramas."

Anouk's voice became sharp, "Alice, what did you say?"

Alice innocently explained, "I watch TV dramas too. In the dramas, only the prince and princess are good people. Most of the characters are bad women who try everything to stop the princess from marrying the prince. This is just like that."

Alice was really finding a way to insult her.

Elizabeth didn't immediately understand what Alice meant.

Anouk was stunned into silence.

Actually, Alice didn't understand much about relationships.

She had heard it from Gavin just last Sunday.

Gavin had come early in the morning to take her out to play, and Alice was very unhappy, asking, "Gavin, why are you taking me out to play? Why aren't my mom and dad taking me?"

"Your dad is busy. So he asked me to take you out."

"It's Saturday. My dad doesn't work today. Even if he did, my mom could take me. Why you?"

"Your dad used to be a very serious CEO, but ever since your mom came back, he's changed."

"He changed for the better, right?"

"No, he became like a CEO in a TV drama."

Alice was even more curious and demanded that Gavin explain the plot to her.

Gavin simplified it, "In the drama, only your mom and dad are good people, and your dad is very handsome and capable and dotes on your mom. Most of the characters are bad women who try everything to stop your mom from marrying your dad. That's it."

Alice immediately understood, saying, "Got it."

She knew that the bad women in Gavin's TV drama were like the two women she had defeated at The Windsor Manor—they were all bad women.

But Alice didn't say it outright, just raising an eyebrow and smiling at Anouk.

Anouk took the bait, saying, "You little brat! How dare you talk like that! No manners! Who are you calling a bad woman? How dare you say I'm a bad woman from a TV drama!"

Alice laughed, "You have a guilty conscience. I didn't say you were a bad woman. I said you watched too many TV dramas. You admitted it yourself that you're a bad woman. How bad must you be?"

Elizabeth remained silent.

She finally understood Alice's intention, amazed at how clever Alice was.

Elizabeth looked innocently at Anouk.

Anouk was so angry, but she restrained herself because she was an adult and couldn't act impulsively.

Alice kindly reminded her, "You're so focused on the bad woman thing that you forgot to pick up Daphne. Listen, Daphne is so timid. Since you're late, she is crying."

"Damn it! I forgot about Daphne." Anouk said and couldn't care more about Elizabeth and Alice anymore, rushing inside to pick up Daphne.

Elizabeth crouched down to look at Alice, saying, "Alice, don't argue with adults, okay?"

Alice confidently told Elizabeth, "Don't worry, Mom. She can't beat me. Even if she's mean, we still have Dad!"

Elizabeth remained silent.

She had already noticed that in the short two months since Alice had come back, she had no reservations about Alexander anymore. She now had strong feelings for him, which showed that Alexander truly doted on her.

Thinking of this, Elizabeth felt much more at ease.

That night, with Alexander away, Elizabeth held Alice and slept in the master bedroom. Alice slept soundly, but Elizabeth tossed and turned, unable to sleep.

Her face still bore the imprint of a shoe sole, having applied a cold compress all night, and while the swelling had gone down, her skin was still bruised.

The next day.

In the morning, Elizabeth went to the bank to open a private account and deposited the $5 million. After lunch, she picked out clothes for herself and Alice and then took a car to the hotel where the preschool parents had arranged to meet.

Upon arrival, Elizabeth realized that this party was far from as simple as she had thought.
