Chapter 187 Being Disliked
Elizabeth said indifferently, "I have nothing to say."
Alexander remained silent.
Even Gavin, who was driving, couldn't help but glance back at Elizabeth.
Elizabeth was really cool.
In this city, Elizabeth was the first person to dare speak to Alexander like that, and besides her, there was no second.
After a while, Alexander raised an eyebrow, asking, "I don't work at your company, how would I know? You have to tell me."
He rarely had such patience watching the conflicted Elizabeth confront him.
But she was quite resourceful.
Even when cornered by the enemy in the company cafeteria, she could still eat her food calmly.
Elizabeth was truly Alice's mother.
At that moment, Alexander suddenly understood that Alice's cunning and mischievous nature was not only inherited from him but also from Elizabeth.
Elizabeth glanced at Gavin, saying lightly, "Haven't you already placed Julia in the company to watch me? You should know everything that happens there, so why ask me?"
"Mrs. Windsor!" Unexpectedly, as soon as Elizabeth finished speaking, Gavin, who was driving, immediately said aggrievedly, "I just asked Julia to look after Mrs. Windsor a bit. She only asked me a few questions, like who Mrs. Windsor's boyfriend is. She didn't tell me anything else."
Gavin was truly wronged.
Regarding Robert, it was Robert who told Gideon, and then Gideon told Alexander. What did it have to do with Gavin?
Elizabeth immediately said, "I'm sorry."
"It's okay, Mrs. Windsor!" Gavin said.
Elizabeth then looked at Alexander, saying, "I don't know that Robert. He insisted on inviting me to dinner, just like Owen approached me before. All I can do is to ignore him."
Alexander's expression softened a lot.
"If you don't want me to do this job, I won't go tomorrow," Elizabeth said somewhat sadly.
"I have no right to restrict your freedom to work," Alexander snapped.
"What?" Elizabeth asked in disbelief.
Alexander said again, annoyed, "I said your outfit today is ugly!"
This was originally told to Gideon by Robert. Robert said to Gideon, "Gideon, Elizabeth has only one flaw: her clothes are a bit old-fashioned. But the more outdated and unfashionable the attire is, the more innocent the person appears."
Then, Gideon relayed this to Alexander.
Actually, when Alexander left the house in the morning, he noticed that Elizabeth's clothes were a bit old-fashioned. He wanted to remind her to change, but since she was going to work, he didn't stop her.
He thought it was better for her to dress plainly at work.
But Alexander didn't expect that even dressed so plainly, she could still attract attention, even attracting the opposite sex.
Elizabeth was confused by Alexander's words. She didn't know the reason, swallowing and finally asking, "What exactly are you trying to say?"
Alexander said again, "Go pick up Alice."
Remaining silent, Elizabeth was really defeated by him.
In front of him, she never had a say. It was fine that he didn't stop her from going to work tomorrow. On the way, Elizabeth and Alexander didn't speak again. When the car arrived at Alice's kindergarten, there were still some children whose parents hadn't picked them up yet.
Elizabeth got out of the car and went to pick up Alice, seeing Alice saying to a girl about her height, "Bye, Susan."
Susan Campbell was being led out by her mother.
Seeing Elizabeth come in, Alice immediately ran towards her, saying, "Susan, look, my mom is here to pick me up too."
Alice ran to Elizabeth, just in time to be next to Susan and her mother.
Elizabeth politely greeted Susan and her mother, "Hello."
Susan looked up at Elizabeth, saying, "Hello, I'm Alice's friend."
As soon as Susan finished speaking, her mother pulled her away, scolding her, "Don't be friends with people like that. Her mom looks like she's from out of town, dressed so ugly!"
Elizabeth remained silent.
Alice remained silent.
After a second, Elizabeth held Alice's hand, saying warmly, "Alice, let's go home."
Alice said gloomily, "Mom, you're actually very beautiful. You're prettier than all the moms in my class. Mom, do you not have money to buy pretty clothes?"
How should she tell Alice?
But Alice always understood Elizabeth's difficulties, sweetly saying to Elizabeth, "Mom, I have a way to make you prettier than Susan's mom."
Elizabeth was curious, asking, "Tell me, what's your way?"
"Secret!" Alice said mysteriously.
Elizabeth smiled.
She really couldn't do anything about Alice. She held Alice's hand, walking to Alexander's car. Gavin had already opened the door. The first thing Alice did when she got in the car was to say to Alexander, "Bad Daddy! If you don't want me to call you Bad Daddy, you have to promise me one thing!"
Elizabeth called out, "Alice!"
But Alexander looked at Alice, saying, "Say it!"
"Buy my mom a bunch of pretty clothes so she can look beautiful!" Alice pouted to say.
Elizabeth explained, "I didn't say anything to Alice."
Alexander ignored Elizabeth and just held Alice, asking her, "So you think your mom's clothes are ugly too?"
Alice nodded.
Elizabeth remained silent.
Alice asked, "So when will you buy my mom pretty clothes?"
Alexander smiled, "Let's see if you eat your dinner well tonight. If you behave, I'll buy them."
"Deal!" Alice made a serious agreement with Alexander.
Elizabeth was stunned.
All the way, she watched Alexander and Alice interact in various ways, but she couldn't get a word in.
Half an hour later, the car arrived at the apartment complex. As soon as Elizabeth got out of the car, she saw two women in uniforms walking towards her.
The two women respectfully said to Elizabeth, "Mr. Windsor, all the clothes you selected for Mrs. Windsor have been delivered."
Elizabeth asked, "What did you say?"
