Chapter 185 Shocked the Entire Audience

Robert remained silent.

After a while, he said, "It's your first day at work, and you don't have much to do. How can you be too busy? If your boss makes you work overtime on your first day, it really affects the company's image. I'll talk to her!"

Elizabeth remained silent.

Robert raised an eyebrow, smiling, "The overtime issue is resolved. Do you have any other reasons to refuse me?"

"No," Elizabeth said curtly.

Before Robert could react, Elizabeth had already picked up her plate, and walking away.

Robert was left speechless.

Watching Elizabeth's departing figure, Robert rubbed his forehead and chuckled, mumbling, "This girl is quite interesting."

Nearby, the company's employees, especially the female ones, remained silent.

They watched as Robert was rejected by the newly arrived Elizabeth. He wasn't embarrassed at all. He didn't get angry or kick the new, old-fashioned Elizabeth out.

Robert didn't get angry, but the female employees wanted to!

One of the familiar female employees was about to take the opportunity to comfort Robert and make an impression, but then Robert's phone rang. He stood up, answering the call.

As he communicated on the phone, he walked out, leaving those women who wanted to curry favor with him without a chance.

This included Linda.

Linda had been working here for five years, since she graduated from college at twenty-two. She had originally thought she could mess around with one of the heirs who co-founded this architectural design company.

But after five years, she hadn't even found a boyfriend, let alone an heir.

Although she was now twenty-seven, Linda took great care of herself. With her savings from years of work, she dressed fashionably and attractively every day, exuding the charm of a city woman.

However, her charm couldn't compare to Elizabeth, who dressed so conservatively and old-fashioned on her first day at work?

This really infuriated Linda.

As Linda left the cafeteria in her high heels, she saw Elizabeth walking down the hallway towards the department, with Julia by her side.

Julia, looking admiringly at Elizabeth, excitedly asked, "Elizabeth, why are you so cool?"

Elizabeth asked, "What?"

Julia smiled, "You just bluntly refused Mr. Lavien. Aren't you afraid of offending him?"

Elizabeth looked at Julia, puzzled.

Is Robert really that powerful?

More powerful than Alexander?

"Who is more powerful, Mr. Lavien or the CEO of the Windsor Group in Sunwillow City?" Elizabeth asked.

"Of course, Mr. Windsor is more powerful!" Julia said, surprised.

That's enough!

Elizabeth had already offended Alexander, so why would she be afraid of offending Robert?

Besides, she just didn't want to go on a date, which shouldn't be considered offending him, right?

"I didn't say anything to him. I'm new here, don't know him, and I'm not familiar with him. Why should I go on a date with him?" Elizabeth said calmly, looking at Julia.

Julia, in a regretful tone, said to Elizabeth, "Elizabeth, do you know how many women in the entire company, not just the company, but all of Sunwillow City and even Pariz, want to go on a date with Mr. Lavien? They would do anything for the chance, and you just refused it so easily?"

Julia spoke with enthusiasm and curiosity.

Elizabeth guessed that Julia must be a curious person.

Looking at Julia, Elizabeth felt a sudden warmth in her heart.

She had no friends.

Her college classmates had cut ties with her after she went to prison. Later, she met Esme in prison, but Esme passed away. Then Samuel protected her with his life, but Alexander had exiled him to an unknown place.

After going through so much, Elizabeth wasn't someone who made friends easily. But seeing Julia's bright smile and her admiring look, Elizabeth, who was almost at the design department's door, stopped and asked Julia, "If you became his girlfriend, would he marry you?"

Julia asked, "What?"

Elizabeth said, "Does he date with the intention of getting married?"

"No! Absolutely not!" Julia said, "Anyone can see that Mr. Lavien is just playing around."

"Then why bother with him?" Elizabeth asked bluntly.

Julia fell silent.

Yeah!

This question seemed to be one that many women hadn't considered. Most women knew Robert was just playing around, still hoping to get involved with him.

Except for Elizabeth!

She really was an incredible person.

Julia watched admiringly as Elizabeth entered the design department office before turning to leave.

When Elizabeth returned to the design department after lunch, she noticed many colleagues, both male and female, looking at her.

All morning, Elizabeth had been busy helping Linda organize materials, having no time to look at her colleagues. Now, as she looked at them, she noticed that the female colleagues were all dressed fashionably and attractively, and the male colleagues were also dressed very stylishly.

Except for Elizabeth.

Maybe she had spent too much time in the remote Collinsport, as her attire was indeed conservative and old-fashioned.

She had deliberately chosen a conservative outfit this morning, and the clothes weren't originally meant to be paired together. She had intentionally mismatched them.

Some outfits look stylish and beautiful when paired correctly.

But when mismatched, they can look very old-fashioned. Elizabeth's outfit today was a very old-fashioned mismatch.

Her colleagues looked at her as if she were a country bumpkin who had just come to the city and struck it rich.

They looked down on her, jealous.

Elizabeth didn't care.

She had been too busy in the morning to introduce herself. Now, Elizabeth confidently introduced herself, "Hello, I'm the new designer, Elizabeth Spencer."

"Designer?" someone asked sarcastically, "You look more like a janitor!"

"Didn't she spend the whole morning helping Linda with chores?"

"Can you draw blueprints?"

"Don't ask if she can draw blueprints. Ask if she can use a computer first!"

Elizabeth calmly replied, "I can use a computer and draw blueprints."

Her colleagues fell silent.

"Who recommended you?" someone asked after a moment.

"Didn't Miss Williams upstairs say that Elizabeth was recommended by Owen? Owen is the heir of the Wisdom Group, and it seems..."

Hearing someone link her to Owen again, Elizabeth immediately interrupted everyone's discussion, saying clearly, "I was hired through the HR department."

"Then why did Harper say you're a mistress?" a sharp voice questioned from behind.
