Chapter 227 No More Chances

Owen stared blankly at Alexander, pleading, "Alexander, I'm begging you, you don't even like her, you..."

His words were interrupted by Alexander, "Owen, my patience is limited. Family ties mean nothing to me, except for my mother. My father holds no place in my heart, let alone you. You better remember this: don't use our family ties to wear down my patience with you! You want to compete with me for Elizabeth? Then you better see if you have what it takes to beat me!"

Alexander continued, "As your relative, I still have to tell you that since you didn't cherish her before and lost her, you should find a way to keep her by your side. Since you can't keep her now, and I can, it only shows that I'm more capable than you. From now on, think carefully before you do anything! This is the last chance I can give you!"

Owen was silent.

He watched as Alexander stood up, casually straightening his suit, and walking out. Owen, somehow finding the courage, chased after Alexander and grabbed him, saying, "Alexander, listen to me. I know I'm insignificant here, knowing my mom means nothing to you. I even know that you might kill me in the next second. But I've thought it over, I might let go of everything else, but not Elizabeth. Alexander, tell me what you want. You can have my life, but let her go. Can you, Alexander?"

Alexander was silent, not expecting Owen to say such things to him.

"Do you want to die that badly?" Alexander asked.

Owen smiled bitterly, "I should have died at Wesley's hands when I was twenty-four. It was Elizabeth who saved me with her pregnant body. Alexander, as long as you let her go, you can tear me to pieces, and I won't say a word. Elizabeth did nothing wrong. She didn't provoke anyone. She gave you a child. She's so pitiful. Why can't you let her go?"

Alexander looked at Owen.

After a long while, he suddenly patted Owen's shoulder, saying, "Owen! You have already missed her. You no longer have the right to think about her. Neither do I! But I'm more ruthless and powerful than you! From now on, focus on helping your parents manage the Tudor Group. That's what you should be doing.

When the company encounters difficulties, you can seek my assistance. I will always be your cousin."

Owen was silent.

In a daze, Alexander had already walked out of the café.

Owen felt an indescribable unease in his heart. What did Alexander mean by this? Did he like Elizabeth? Was it a form of possession, or what?

After leaving the café and sitting in his car, Owen immediately called Marcus at the old mansion.

Marcus was already over a hundred years old but still sharp and clear-headed, thanks to his good maintenance when he was younger. At this moment, seeing that it was Owen calling, Marcus was even happier than seeing Alexander come home.

"Owen, tell me, how is Declan's condition now?" Marcus asked.

"Grandpa, did Alexander bring that woman back to Windsor Manor and reunite with you?" Owen originally wanted to say Elizabeth's name but chose to refer to her as "that woman" out of caution.

Sure enough, Marcus immediately said angrily, "Don't mention her! Just thinking about her makes me want to kill her!"

"Grandpa, what does she do now?" Owen asked.

"She hasn't changed her bad habits. Six years have passed, and she's still the same woman trying to scam money from high society. Just yesterday, she tricked our family heirloom, the crystal bracelets, out of us! It's partly your grandma's fault. She's in her nineties and confused, actually giving such a precious item to that despicable woman Elizabeth!"

Owen tried to soothe Marcus, "Maybe Alexander genuinely wants to marry her?"

"Alexander?" Marcus sneered, "Is he that casual? To want a lowly woman like Elizabeth! With his ruthless nature, he would never want Elizabeth! I don't know what he's thinking. The entire Windsor family is in his hands, yet he still resents us, keeping his distance from his parents. He uses a woman like Elizabeth to deal with us, wanting her to drive us to our graves. And then he'll deal with Elizabeth."

Marcus added, "But we can't wait. The Windsor family has very few descendants now, just little Alice. I want Alexander to marry a noble lady to continue the family line. Is that wrong? I'm almost driven to death by Elizabeth! I'm old, but I still have the ability to kill her!"

Owen said, "But she's Alice's mother."

Marcus snorted again, "In all of Sunwillow City, there are countless women who would want to be Alice's mother!"

Having gotten the information he wanted, Owen tried to calm Marcus, "Grandpa, you should rest early and not get angry. You still need to talk to Alexander about this. Rest early, Grandpa. I'll hang up now."

Without waiting for Marcus to respond, Owen hung up the phone.

He sat alone in the car, silent for a long time.

His mind was filled with images of Elizabeth, her calm, composed, and silent demeanor when facing him. Her personality hadn't changed much in six years. She always seemed submissive but was actually very strong, having her own opinions.

Moreover, she had gained a mature charm over the past six years.

She was now even harder to persuade than before.

Her inner decisions were unshakable by anyone.

Thinking of this, Owen felt a mix of emotions towards Elizabeth.

Maybe it was love, regret, or melancholy knowing he could never have her again.

In short, he and Elizabeth were drifting further apart. Perhaps Elizabeth no longer had a place for him in her heart, while he had to admit that his heart was full of Elizabeth.

He had been completely conquered by Elizabeth.

Owen drove back to his temporary hotel in a daze. As soon as he entered, without turning on the light, he was slapped hard.

"You! Why are you here!" Owen asked in surprise, seeing who had hit him.
