Chapter 218 Amara Really Likes Elizabeth
Upon hearing Alexander's introduction of her, Elizabeth suddenly looked up at him. His face was calm and expressionless, making it hard for her to read him. She could only feel the strong grip he had on her arm.
She couldn't break free even if she wanted to, only following his gaze and looking into the hall.
The hall of Windsor Manor was as grand and luxurious as it had been six years ago, but this time, there were fewer people. Elizabeth felt slightly relieved.
Upon closer inspection, she noticed Marcus and Amara sitting in the main seats. At that moment, Alice was lying on Marcus's lap, trying to hand him a hard nut. Seeing Elizabeth enter, Alice froze with the nut still in mid-air.
Alice's eyes met Elizabeth's, filled with a mischievous sense of victory. Elizabeth didn't understand what Alice had done this time, so she continued to look around.
Sitting in the first seat below were Felix and his wife, Sierra.
This was Elizabeth's third time meeting Sierra.
The previous two encounters had been very unpleasant.
At this moment, Felix and Sierra wore expressions of forced acceptance, looking at Elizabeth with disdain.
Elizabeth didn't care, pretending not to see them.
Behind them stood Sarah, timidly holding her right wrist with tears in her eyes.
Sarah was also looking at Elizabeth with a mix of anger and fear.
Next were Owen's parents.
Their expressions were extremely shocked, and beneath the shock, there was a hint of fear.
In the vast hall, only these people were present. Elizabeth realized that everyone here today was a member of the Windsor family.
"Mom! Come in quickly!" Alice called out in her childish voice, "Don't worry, no one here dares to bully you. I told great-grandpa that if he dares to kick you out, I'll put a nut in his mouth and break his teeth, making him cry from the pain."
Elizabeth remained silent, suddenly wanting to laugh but held it back, swallowing hard several times.
At the same time, she thought to herself, 'Alice! If you want to break Marcus's teeth, why would you tell him in advance? Are you silly?'
Five-year-old Alice didn't understand these things.
Alice only knew that when Alexander brought her in, Marcus, Felix, and the fierce Sierra all warned Alexander not to let Elizabeth in and not to marry her.
Hearing this, Alice was so angry that she wanted to knock everyone down, but she didn't have the strength. So she came up with a plan. She took a nut, jumping onto Marcus's lap, and fiercely saying, "Will you let my mom in and let my dad marry her to be my mom? If you don't, I'll make you eat this nut and break all your teeth! You'll cry from the pain!"
"Alright, alright," Marcus said, trembling as he hugged Alice, with his eyes squinting with laughter, "With such a domineering granddaughter like Alice ordering me, how could I not comply? If you break all my teeth, I won't be able to eat anything. I'm scared."
Alice's face lit up with a victorious smile.
Little did she know, while she was threatening to break Marcus's teeth with a nut, Alexander had already issued a stern warning to the four elders of the Windsor family.
Alexander declared, "Whether you accept it or not, she is my wife! I brought her here out of respect for you. If I didn't, you would never see her in your lifetime! If you want to continue living comfortably in the old mansion with everything, and occasionally see Alice and enjoy family time, you'd better listen. Otherwise, I can sever ties with you!"
Alexander had no emotional attachment to the Windsor family.
Even with Felix, he had little affection, let alone Sierra, who indirectly caused Esme's death and had no blood relation. He allowed these people to live here because the four elders were no longer a threat and were indeed elders of the Windsor family.
Even as ruthless as Alexander was, he couldn't bring himself to eliminate all the elders.
However, it was necessary to keep them in check.
Sure enough, the four elders of the old mansion were subdued.
"She is, after all, Alice's mother. Let her in," Marcus was the first to agree.
Sierra was about to say something, but Felix stopped her. Felix knew Alexander better than anyone; his ruthlessness was well-known. Since Alexander had decided to marry Elizabeth, anyone who tried to stop him was courting death.
They watched as Alexander easily brought Elizabeth in, holding her. The last time Elizabeth was in this hall, she was like a prisoner.
But this time.
She was the wife of the most powerful man here, Alexander.
She was the mistress of this place.
The four elders were uncomfortable, and so was Elizabeth, who was held by Alexander.
"What should I say?" Elizabeth asked Alexander softly.
"What do you want to say?" Alexander replied.
Elizabeth remained silent, not knowing what to say and not wanting to speak at all.
Marcus had repeatedly humiliated and slandered her, leaving an indelible scar on her. Even though Marcus now doted on Alice, Elizabeth couldn't bring herself to smile at him.
And then there were Sierra and Felix. Their looks told Elizabeth they didn't welcome her.
So, Elizabeth didn't want to say anything.
"You don't have to speak," Alexander said.
Elizabeth remained silent, looking up at Alexander, and wondering if he meant she could stay silent.
Alexander sneered, "So few words, so stubborn, not even half as quick-witted as Alice. If you don't want to speak, then don't."
Elizabeth remained silent. She bit her lip, her face turning red.
She took it as Alexander's disdain for her.
Because of Alice, Alexander had to bring her here publicly.
Sitting opposite Felix and Sierra, Elizabeth indeed said nothing, not even glancing at them, and treating herself as invisible.
It was Marcus who spoke up, "Since you're here, you should at least follow basic manners and etiquette, right?"
Elizabeth bit her lip.
"You're scaring Alexander's wife. Elizabeth, right? Come over here, let me see you. I have a gift for you. It was originally for Esme, but since she left early, I'll give it to you now. Come over," said Amara, who was sitting next to Marcus, looking kindly at Elizabeth.
Elizabeth's eyes suddenly reddened.
"Call me Grandma," Amara said gently.
"Grandma," Elizabeth called out.
