Chapter 364 A Change of Mind
Alexander's face immediately darkened. "What happened?"
Gavin glanced at Elizabeth, who was standing in line ahead of them, then whispered to Alexander, "It's about the Guise Family."
Before Alexander could ask, Gavin hurriedly continued, "The dozens of bodyguards we stationed at the Guise Villa have been there for most of the day and haven't seen a single person come out. You could say Lila and Clara are too embarrassed to show their faces, but Oliver should have gone to the company to handle business, right? But it's already afternoon, and no one has come out of the Guise Villa. The bodyguards got suspicious and forced their way in, only to find that Oliver, Lila, and Clara were all not at home."
Alexander exclaimed, "How could this be!"
This was something he had never expected.
"The bodyguards asked the Guise Family's servants, and they all said that the Guise Family went on a trip," Gavin said.
Alexander sneered. "They clearly ran away!"
Gavin was also incredulous. "When did this family become so agile? In the end, they're just afraid of dying."
Alexander fell silent. He glanced at Elizabeth and Alice.
If the Guise Family had indeed run away, Alexander couldn't follow Elizabeth to her hometown for now. He had to stay and deal with the Guise Family first.
To be clear, he needed to capture the Guise Family trio alive in a short time and then eliminate them. Despite his deep friendship with Declan, he could no longer keep them around.
"Elizabeth," Alexander called out calmly.
Elizabeth turned around. "What's wrong? Is there an urgent matter at the company that needs your attention?"
Elizabeth had always been a very considerate girl. She had noticed Gavin's serious expression when he answered the phone and the troubled look on his face when he spoke to Alexander. She knew something very tricky must have happened. Otherwise, the subordinates wouldn't call at this time. Alexander had to manage the entire group, and without him, many things couldn't proceed.
So, before Alexander could say anything, Elizabeth smiled and said, "It's okay, Alexander. I can go back to my hometown by myself. I'm very familiar with it. You really don't need to come with me. Besides, I'm not as poor as I used to be. Now I have a lot of money you gave me. I'll stay in the best hotel and take cabs everywhere. You don't need to worry about me at all."
She paused, touched her nose, and gave Alexander a playful smile. "But can you take care of Alice for a couple of days? I'm going to my parents' graves, and it's inconvenient to bring her along."
Seeing Elizabeth's plea, Alexander felt a pang of sorrow. Elizabeth had always been so sensible. But if she knew thather enemies had suddenly disappeared, and they might be the ones who killed her mother or took her identity, how would she feel if she couldn't get her revenge? Alexander made up his mind. Even if he didn't kill them, he had to hand them over to Elizabeth to deal with.
He pulled Elizabeth into his arms, bent down to kiss her head, and said softly, "I'll come to your hometown in two days. We'll bring your parents' remains back to Sunwillow City and find the best cemetery for them."
Elizabeth nodded. "Okay."
Then she bent down and looked at Alice, who was carrying a backpack and holding a teddy bear.
Alice seemed to understand something. She looked at Alexander and then at Elizabeth.
Elizabeth smiled. "Alice, do you want to stay with Daddy for the next two days, or do you want to stay with Mommy?"
Alice was silent. She didn't want to leave either Alexander or Elizabeth!
Her eyes flicked, and she suddenly had an idea. "You two play rock-paper-scissors. Whoever wins, I'll go with them."
Alexander and Elizabeth were silent. Many people recognized Alexander, but they didn't dare to approach him for photos or small talk. Alexander, a man who struck fear into many, about to play rock-paper-scissors with his wife in a crowded airport hall?!
Gavin immediately covered his mouth, trying to stifle his laughter. He was truly impressed by Alice, who was really giving Alexander a hard time. Even someone as respected as the King of Sunwillow City, Alexander, was just a doting father in front of Alice.
Alexander knew that although Alice suggested rock-paper-scissors, she really wanted to stay with Elizabeth. No matter what, she always thought of Elizabeth. She was practically Elizabeth's sweetheart.
Alexander and Elizabeth exchanged a glance, then both made their moves.
"Alice, you'll stay with Daddy for the next two days," Alexander said in a gloating tone.
Alice replied, "Alright." Then she looked at Elizabeth and gave a lot of instructions. "Goodbye, Mommy. Have a safe trip. If you need anything when you get there, make sure to call Daddy. If you can't reach Daddy, you can call me."
Elizabeth said, "Got it!"
Alice couldn't help but laugh.
"You two should go back now. I'm going through security and boarding!" Elizabeth kissed Alice on the cheek before reluctantly heading to security.
After boarding, the plane was scheduled to take off in forty-five minutes. Elizabeth sat in her seat, eyes closed, lost in thought.
At the moment the plane took off, she suddenly felt anxious. She had a nervous feeling about returning to her hometown after fifteen years. What had her hometown become? Were there still people she knew? How was her old house? Had the neighbors all moved away?
Two hours later, Elizabeth landed safely. After leaving the airport, she took a taxi directly to hometown. Two hours later, she finally arrived. The town had changed so much that she couldn't recognize it. Tall buildings were everywhere, making her feel disoriented. Seeing it was already 10:30 PM, she decided to stay at the best hotel in town.
After entering the hotel and putting down her luggage, Elizabeth immediately called Alexander. "I've arrived."
