Chapter 51 Waiting for You to Come Back for Dinner

Alexander didn't say anything more, he got up and left the room.

Esme smiled and said, "Alexander has always been a man of few words. Elizabeth, you two got married quickly and have yet to build a strong emotional foundation with one another, but you'll discover his good qualities over time."

"I understand, Mom. Can I go shopping for clothes with Alexander now?" Elizabeth asked sweetly.

Esme urged, "Go ahead."

Elizabeth immediately followed him out. Just as she reached the door, she heard Esme call out, "Alexander, I know you're standing outside. Come in, I have something to say to you."

Alexander was indeed standing outside. Hearing Esme call him, he said to Gavin, "Take her to the car first. I'll be right there."

Gavin replied, "Yes, Mr. Windsor."

Alexander turned around and went inside. He called out to her, "Mom."

"Silly boy!" Esme playfully hit Alexander. Then she lectured, "You've been married to Elizabeth for over a month now. And I can see you've been cold to her. I know you two don't have feelings for each other, so I haven't blamed you."

Esme added, "Luckily, Elizabeth is a good girl. She never complains to me about you neglecting her. The clothes she wears are all cheap, and I can't point it out to you directly. Today, you finally got it. Make sure to buy her lots of beautiful clothes. She's a member of the Windsor family!"

Alexander replied, "Got it."

Esme urged happily, "Hurry up! Don't keep Elizabeth waiting outside."

"Okay." Alexander walked out of Esme's hospital room.

Gavin and Elizabeth were both waiting by Alexander's car. Seeing Alexander approach from a distance, Elizabeth suddenly mustered up the courage and said, "Gavin."

Gavin asked, "Are you calling me?"

Elizabeth had never spoken to him voluntarily before. Her sudden call made Gavin feel flattered.

Elizabeth bit her lip and asked, "I don't know why he's treating me like this. Do you know the reason?"

Gavin smiled at her. He simply responded, "Isn't it right for Mr. Windsor to be good to you?"

Elizabeth remained silent.

"Just kidding." Gavin laughed again. He explained, "Actually, Mr. Windsor's coldness and ruthlessness depend on who he's dealing with. If it's an enemy, he's more heartless than anyone. But if it's a friend or family, Mr. Windsor is very caring."

Elizabeth inquired, "Does he consider me a friend?"

"You're very good to his mother, and he sees it all," Gavin said truthfully.

There was actually another layer of meaning that Gavin didn't know.

When Alexander saw Elizabeth's hand-drawn architectural design, the meticulousness, the details, even the type of steel used and the handling of small details and load-bearing, were all marked very clearly.

From that one drawing alone, Alexander could see that Elizabeth was a serious and responsible girl.

Not only that, she also inherited Esme's hobby.

Esme didn't have long to live, and having someone in this world who could continue Esme's hobby gave Alexander an indescribable feeling.

All day long, whenever he had a moment of free time, he would think of Elizabeth's lonely figure, her unyielding eyes hidden beneath her calm expression.

In the afternoon, he would come to the hospital early to visit Esme.

Because he knew that Elizabeth dropped by every day after work.

At this moment, seeing Elizabeth give Gavin a slightly shy smile, Alexander suddenly realized how pure and innocent she looked when she smiled.

Alexander walked up to Gavin and Elizabeth. Gavin immediately opened the car door and asked, "Mr. Windsor, where are we going?"

"To a few high-end brand stores in the city center. Gavin, call them ahead of time and make an appointment, saying we'll be there in an hour," Alexander said, looking at Elizabeth.

He raised his hand, gesturing for Elizabeth to get in.

Elizabeth suddenly felt at a loss.

Just then, her phone rang. Without even looking at the caller ID, Elizabeth answered, "Hello, who is this?"

"Elizabeth!" came Oliver's extremely hateful voice.

Elizabeth remained silent.

She instinctively glanced at Alexander, her expression still calm.

On the other end, Oliver continued, "Come over here right now! If you don't, you'll regret it!"

"Okay," Elizabeth said calmly.

Gavin and Alexander both looked at her.

Elizabeth fidgeted with her her fingers nervously as she said, "I went to the construction site to deliver samples this afternoon and didn't return to the office. Now my supervisor wants me to go back. I worked hard to get this job."

"We can buy clothes tomorrow," Alexander said.

Elizabeth sighed in relief. She replied, "Thank you, I'm leaving now."

Alexander suggested, "Let Gavin take you."

"No need," Elizabeth replied, "It's very close to my workplace from here."

With that, she jogged away.

After leaving the hospital and getting on the bus, Elizabeth called Oliver back. "I don't owe you anything!"

"You stole Clara's husband!" Oliver said viciously.

Elizabeth's tone was calm and cold. "Regarding this matter, Mr. Guise, you can't blame me. You should have Clara find Mr. Windsor. By the way, doesn't Clara often go to see Mr. Windsor? I've never interfered with them."

"You!" Oliver gritted his teeth over the phone. Then he demanded, "Come to this coffee shop right now! If you don't, you'll regret it!"

"No problem," Elizabeth retored then hung up.

Half an hour later, she arrived outside the coffee shop. Through the glass, she saw Oliver sitting alone in a booth, glaring at her. Elizabeth walked up to him but didn't sit down. She coldly asked, "What do you want to say?"

"You have three days to get out of Sunwillow City!" Oliver said unreasonably.

"Why?" Elizabeth asked.

Olicer said unreasonably, "Because I'm your foster father of eight years!"

"You're not my foster father! I've already repaid the favor of living in your house for eight years by going to jail for Clara! I don't owe you anything now!" Elizabeth retorted, looking down on Oliver.

"Then be prepared for your mother's grave to be dug up!" Oliver's expression was extremely sinister.

"Then Clara can forget about marrying Alexander for the rest of her life," Elizabeth said calmly.

Oliver fell silent, too stunned by her comeback.

Elizabeth picked up her bag and left. She was afraid Oliver would dig up her mother's grave, and at the same time she was also afraid he would disturb Esme again, so she came.

However, she came prepared and was more ruthless than Oliver!

With one sentence, she silenced Oliver, then Elizabeth left.

Elizabeth didn't want to see Oliver for even a second longer.

Back when Elizabeth was younger, she moved into the Guise Mansion like an orphan. At that time, she really considered Oliver her father. She needed fatherly love; other kids had it, but she didn't.

She once couldn't understand why she and Clara were both adopted by the Guise family, but Oliver treated Clara as his most beloved child while she was a beggar.

And she had to beg for love and affection at what cost?

Elizabeth sat alone at the bus stop under the night sky, crying until her vision blurred.

She cried out of frustration at her own weakness, wondering why she always hoped that Oliver act as her father.

Late at night, Elizabeth dragged her tired body back to Alexander's residence.

As she opened the door, a voice came, "Mrs. Windsor, Mr. Windsor asked me to wait for you to have dinner together."
