Chapter 111 They Want to Demolish Elizabeth's House

"Hey, stop right there, you bitch!" Colin yelled from the ground, clutching his aching tailbone. "If you dare walk out of this kindergarten, I'll make you pay. I'll have you and your daughter's bodies exposed on the street!"

Alice's hand tightened in Elizabeth's grasp at the harshness of his words.

Elizabeth looked at Alice with concern and said softly, "Don't worry, Alice. Mommy knows how to handle this."

Alice nodded, trying to be brave.

Elizabeth turned to face the menacing family and said calmly, "I'm right here. Let's see what you can do to me. This is a society governed by law. If you dare to harm me, I'll call the police immediately. Not only that, but I'll also sue this kindergarten that your father sponsors. Once this place gets exposed online, you probably won't get a single student."

With Colin and Mira falling silent, Elizabeth turned and walked away.

"Just you wait! I have plenty of ways to deal with you!" Colin shouted furiously from behind.

Elizabeth, holding Alice's hand, didn't look back and just snorted, "Scoundrel!"

In this remote town of Collinsport, the economy was backward, but the people were tough and aggressive. Elizabeth had come here from another place, with a child and a paralyzed Samuel. Everyone wanted to bully her.

As Elizabeth was about to head home with Alice, her phone rang. It was a call from the developer boss of the construction site where she worked.

"Hello, Mr. Astor. What's up? I'll take my daughter home first and then come back to work," Elizabeth said hurriedly.

Dorian Astor was the biggest boss at the construction site. Elizabeth wasn't directly under the developer's management but under the contractor's. Still, she was always dedicated to her work. No matter who asked her to work, she would do so without complaint.

Having such a job in Collinsport wasn't easy for her. She wanted to do her job perfectly.

On the other end, Dorian's tone was gentle. "Miss Spencer, I've reviewed your construction plans. They're excellent and very reasonable, even better than those of engineers with over ten years of experience. I was planning to invite you to dinner tonight, but our company has just brought in a new major investor, and I've been in meetings with them until now. With this new investment, our development work will expand, giving you more opportunities to showcase your skills. So, are you available tonight? I'd like to discuss this over dinner."

Elizabeth was silent.

Dorian had invited her several times before, and each time she had refused. This time, he used the excuse of bringing in more funds and expanding the construction to invite her again.

Elizabeth didn't know how to respond.

If she kept refusing Dorian, she feared losing her job. But she really didn't want to discuss anything other than work with him.

It had been five years since she escaped from Aldoria.

Elizabeth had spent ten years in Aldoria, from school to prison, followed by three chaotic, nightmarish months after her release. Those ten years were pure hell.

She had been tangled up with the wealthy elite in Aldoria, played like a fool, and almost lost her life.

So, Elizabeth, no longer believing in love, would never have any relationships with wealthy people again. She just wanted to live a peaceful life in Collinsport with Alice and Samuel, having no other desires.

Elizabeth paused and replied, "Mr. Astor, I have something to take care of here. I have to go."

After hanging up the phone, Elizabeth took Alice home. The moment they walked in, Alice dashed inside, shouting, "Uncle Samuel!"

Samuel was already wheeling himself out, gently asking, "Alice is back. Tell me, who did you beat up today? Did you knock them out?"

Elizabeth scolded Samuel, "Samuel, stop encouraging her. She's a girl, and she's always knocking boys down, just acting like a boy."

Samuel sighed, "I want Alice to be a brave girl, not like her mother, who is kind-hearted, soft, and emotional, always getting manipulated and bullied. Alice needs to be strong and tough, never letting anyone bully her! Understand?"

Alice looked at Samuel and said, "I won't let anyone bully me, but I won't bully others either. Don't worry, Uncle Samuel. When I grow up, I'll protect Mommy and you. I won't let anyone call Mommy a bad woman or you a disabled person."

Hearing this, both Elizabeth and Samuel felt deeply moved.

In their moment of silence, there was suddenly a commotion outside. "Bitch! Come out here! I'll tear your house down today!"

Hearing this, Samuel immediately asked, "What happened, Elizabeth? Why are they coming to our house?"

Elizabeth was stunned and silent, not expecting John's parents to actually come to their door. She had planned to discuss with Samuel after dinner about transferring Alice to another kindergarten tomorrow, but she didn't expect them to come so soon.

Seeing Elizabeth not speaking, Samuel immediately said, "You and Alice hide. No matter what happens outside, you don't come out. Call the police immediately after I go out."

Elizabeth started to cry. "Samuel."

"It's okay. I'm a man, and I can take any punishment, but I can't watch you and Alice suffer. Go, hide inside and lock the door." Samuel said, turning back.

"No!" Elizabeth cried, grabbing Samuel's wheelchair and pushing him inside. She told Alice, "Take care of him. Mommy is going out to see."

After those words, Elizabeth rushed out.

As soon as she stepped out, she saw several burly men standing outside the fence, and carrying a stretcher with Colin lying on it.

"Bitch!" Colin, half-lying on the bed, still had the strength to curse. "Your daughter pushed me, and I got injured. You have to pay for my medical expenses. Not only that, but you also have to apologize today! Otherwise, I'll tear down your house!"

"I'd like to see who dares to tear down this house!" A cold voice asked from behind.
