Chapter 231 Her Bandit Logic

In Alexander's arms, Elizabeth didn't dare to move, passively listening to his phone conversation with someone else.

"I got it. I'll find time to take her to try it on."

"Keep any top-quality rubies for us."

"Her fingers are very slender. I'll bring her to get the size measured first."

All the conversation on the phone was about "she."

Who could that "she" be?

Could it be Elizabeth?

A thought flashing through her mind, Elizabeth couldn't help but mock herself for overthinking.

Alexander hung up the phone, putting it back on the nightstand, and looking down at Elizabeth in his arms. Her soft and messy hair spread across his chest, making her small face seem almost invisible.

Her eyes were tightly closed, and her long, curly eyelashes fluttered. He could tell she wasn't asleep.

But she was so still that she seemed like a lifeless doll.

Lifeless?

Her vitality was stronger than anyone's. During six years of fleeing, she single-handedly took care of the paralyzed Samuel, raising Alice to be so robust and mischievous.

Returning to Sunwillow City, she was still the calm and composed woman who remained unperturbed by honor or disgrace.

She seemed uncompetitive, seeming to accept things as they came, but in reality, she was incredibly stubborn and unyielding.

If Elizabeth was truly a woman who accepted things passively and was anxious about gains and losses, she would have cried a hundred times to explain when he saw her having coffee with Owen.

But she didn't explain a single word, just stubborn, innocent, and pitiful.

"I've never seen a woman with such twisted logic as you!" Alexander said without reason, then reached out and pulled her out of the bed.

She had to open her eyes, looking at him.

Compared to him calling her twisted, she found him even more incomprehensible.

Last night, they were in the rooftop garden. He held her while they swung on the swing. Although the night wind was cold, she felt warm. After sleeping through the night, the first thing he said was that she was twisted.

Was it really an inexplicable accusation?

Her voice was still hoarse from the morning, "Yes."

Alexander was silent.

He got up, opened the wardrobe, and started taking out clothes. As he put on his shirt, he kept looking at her.

She was still sitting in his bed with her hair down.

Alexander was puzzled, asking, "What's wrong? Waiting for me to dress you? Or are you being lazy and not taking Alice to preschool?"

Elizabeth finally reacted, quickly getting out of bed, and rushing out.

"What are you doing!" Alexander asked, raising his arm to block her, and holding her in his arms.

Elizabeth looked at Alexander in astonishment, asking, "Why are you stopping me?"

"Elizabeth! When I say you're twisted, you really are. I've never seen anyone as bold as you! Are you going out like this?" Alexander asked.

Elizabeth then realized she wasn't wearing any clothes, her face turning as red as a ripe apple.

At the same time, she was extremely annoyed, blaming him, "It's you! Every time we sleep, you strip all my clothes off. Even if we don't make love, you still strip me. I was in such a hurry I forgot! You're so annoying!"

With that, she didn't care and lifted her arms to take off the shirt he had just put on but hadn't buttoned yet, quickly putting it on herself, buttoning it messily, and running out in a hurry.

Alexander was silent.

Calling her twisted wasn't wrong at all.

She really had a habit of wearing his shirts.

It seemed he needed to order more shirts in the future.

Alexander took another shirt from the wardrobe, put it on, tied his tie, put on his pants and suit, coming out fully dressed. Elizabeth and Alice were already sitting in the dining room.

The family of three had breakfast as usual. As Elizabeth and Alexander grabbed their briefcases, Alice carried her backpack when they hurried downstairs.

Behind them, Mia and Emily couldn't help but smile at each other.

"Mr. Windsor seems more affectionate now. He used to always have a cold face, and I didn't dare talk to him." Mia said.

"Yes, ever since Mrs. Elizabeth Windsor and Miss Alice Windsor came back, Mr. Windsor seems more like a normal person," Emily said.

"I used to think Mr. Windsor was a ruthless person. But it turns out he can be so gentle with his wife and daughter." Mia said.

"Yes!" Emily said, "You came late, so you don't know. Mr. Windsor may seem ruthless, and everyone in Sunwillow City thinks he doesn't care about family, but he actually values relationships deeply. There was a woman named Zoey who used to take care of Mr. Windsor's mother. After his mother died, Zoey fell seriously ill a year later. Mr. Windsor spent over a million dollars to treat her."

"Really?" Mia asked, looking at Emily in disbelief.

Emily nodded, replying, "Of course! Mr. Windsor is actually a good person. Now their family of three can finally reunite happily."

At this moment, the family of three had arrived at Alice's preschool. After dropping her off, Elizabeth saw that Alexander's car was still there. She opened the door and got in, asking softly, "Can I still go to work today?"

Seeing Owen come to her office, Elizabeth guessed he wouldn't let her go to work anymore. She felt really unlucky, having finally found a job, working for a week, and having a fallout with Harper. She had barely managed to handle two major incidents for the company, earning her rehire, only for Alexander to see Owen come to her office.

When would she finally have a stable job, even if just for a year? With a stable job for a year, she could earn enough money to return to her hometown, which she hadn't seen in nearly twenty years, visiting her deceased mother.

Elizabeth bit her lip, waiting for Alexander's answer.

It was all up to him.

"Why can't you go to work?" he asked her.

"Owen came to see me yesterday. I just want to ask if you would still let me go to work." Elizabeth explained.

"A thief would actually ask for my opinion?" he said irritably.

Elizabeth was silent.

Gavin, in the front, almost choked with laughter. How did Alexander start calling Elizabeth a thief overnight?

What did Elizabeth do to make the usually ruthless Alexander sound so aggrieved?

He looked at Elizabeth with admiration.

Elizabeth's voice was even softer, "I understand."

"What do you understand?" Alexander snorted coldly. "Understand that Owen is my cousin, you are my wife, and I won't let you interact with family? Do you think your husband has the same twisted logic as you?"

Elizabeth looked surprised, asking, "You still agree to let me go to work?"
