Chapter 228 The Conspiracy of Two Women

Elodie angrily pointed at Owen, cursing, "Owen! I asked you to take care of Declan with me in Pariz, but you were so unwilling. I could understand if you didn't want to take care of Declan, but you actually came back to find that bitch Elizabeth, that worthless woman who is about to be tortured to death by Alexander! Owen, what do you take me for?"

Owen glared at Elodie, saying angrily, "You followed me!"

Elodie, on the verge of tears, said, "I didn't want to follow you, but I knew you always had Elizabeth in your heart. I just wanted to see what you were doing back in Sunwillow City. Turns out you really came back to find that bitch!"

Owen raised his hand and slapped Elodie hard, saying, "Elodie! If you dare insult Elizabeth again, I'll disfigure you!"

Elodie was silent.

She covered her face and looked at Owen, choking up after a long time, "You actually hit me?"

Owen sneered indifferently, "Didn't you just hit me too!"

"Owen!" Elodie shouted angrily, "Don't forget, even though you're Alexander's cousin, your Tudor family has already declined in Sunwillow City. It was Declan who arranged our marriage to maintain your family's status!"

"You?" Owen scoffed, "Declan originally wanted you to marry Alexander! Unfortunately, you didn't have that luck. Declan has his own granddaughter now, so you had to settle for marrying me! Elodie, don't forget, your last name is Williams, not Jones! I warn you, don't let Harper harass Elizabeth again! Otherwise, not only will I deal with you, but even Simon won't spare you. Do you know that Elizabeth's job was introduced to her by Simon? You fool!"

With that, Owen slammed the door, leaving.

He had no feelings for Elodie at all. Even though he had known her since childhood, knowing she was pampered, Owen was well aware of all her bad habits.

He hadn't thought much of it before. But after comparing Elodie to Elizabeth, even though Elodie was a rich girl and Elizabeth was as destitute as a homeless beggar, in Owen's eyes, a hundred Elodies couldn't hold a candle to one Elizabeth.

Elodie wasn't as beautiful, as calm and composed, or as capable of finding happiness in small acts of kindness as Elizabeth.

Though Elizabeth rarely smiled, when she did, her smile seemed to melt everything in the world, incredibly endearing.

Owen had seen it once, but he couldn't keep that rare smile of Elizabeth's.

It wasn't just her smile; in terms of survival, courage, and every other aspect, Elodie couldn't compare to Elizabeth.

So Owen had never been interested in Elodie.

Their marriage was purely a business arrangement. He didn't even know if Alexander would kill him next, so at this moment, why would he care about his relationship with Elodie?

But Elodie didn't think that way.

If she didn't marry Owen, she really wouldn't have a chance to rise. She had already returned to the Williams family, which had no status in Sunwillow City. Harper wasn't even considered a socialite there.

Elodie was only considered a socialite because of her connection to the Jones family. Without the protection of the Jones family, she was nothing. So Elodie was eager to marry Owen, wanting to become Mrs. Tudor.

With the title of Mrs. Tudor, her status could be solidified in Sunwillow City.

She wanted to marry Owen, but Owen's heart was still with that bitch Elizabeth, whom Elodie hated so much that she wanted to tear her to pieces.

When Elizabeth first came to work at the architecture firm, Elodie had already heard from Harper, but she didn't tell Harper that Elizabeth was the same woman who had been shunned by high society six years ago, having a grudge against Alexander. Because of that incident six years ago, all information had been sealed off except for a few people in high society who knew.

Especially since very few people had seen Elizabeth's true face.

Elodie didn't tell Harper that Elizabeth was the same woman from six years ago because she wanted to keep Elizabeth at the company. She planned to deal with Elizabeth herself when she returned from Pariz after taking care of Declan.

But to Elodie's surprise, Owen had come back early, specifically to protect Elizabeth. How could Elodie not be furious?

Just as she was seething with anger, Elodie's phone rang. She picked it up and saw it was Harper calling, immediately answering, "Harper, what is it? Speak quickly!"

Because Elodie considered herself a socialite, she always looked down on Harper's family. On the other end, Harper spoke cautiously, "Elodie, a colleague who is close to me at the company told me today that Owen specifically went to the company to find..."

"I already know!" Elodie said, even more furious.

"Elodie, who exactly is this Elizabeth? How is she so powerful? She can make Mr. Lavien and Owen both obsessed with her. She's simply a bitch." Harper asked.

"Harper! How can you speak for Elizabeth! You coward! I got you such a good position at Simon's company, making all the employees fawn over you, treating you like a rich person. However, you can't even keep an eye on Elizabeth for me! You let Elizabeth hurt you, almost cripple you, and even push you out! Why are you still alive! Why don't you just die!" Elodie cursed.

With that, Elodie angrily hung up the phone.

On the other end, Harper, injured and unemployed, felt extremely wronged.

Meanwhile, Elodie cursed viciously, "Elizabeth, I don't care what you are to Alexander. Anyway, you'll be tortured to death by Alexander later, but before that happens, I won't let you off! I'll make you pay for everything you owe me! I'll make your life miserable!"

After saying that, Elodie dialed another number. The call was quickly answered. This time, Elodie spoke carefully, in a flattering tone, "Clara, how about Grandpa Jones?"

On the other end, Clara, who was in Pariz taking care of Declan, responded indifferently, "Do you need something, Elodie?"

"Clara, I have some news for you. Elizabeth is now working at Simon's architecture firm." Elodie said.

"Really!" Clara immediately asked excitedly.
