Chapter 219 The Heirloom Gifted to Elizabeth
Elizabeth wasn't naturally stubborn; in fact, she was happy with just a little warmth.
But growing up, she didn't receive much warmth.
"Elizabeth, come here, come here." From the main seat, Amara said, waving at Elizabeth while opening a small box beside her.
It looked like she was going to give something to Elizabeth.
At first, Elizabeth didn't move.
She had a good impression of Amara, but she was also self-aware enough not to take things she shouldn't.
She didn't care for it.
However, Alexander, standing next to her, grabbed her wrist and forcibly pulled her up, saying, "Grandma is calling you, how can you be so rude!"
Elizabeth remained silent.
She was told she didn't have to speak!
Alexander was going back on his word!
"Go quickly!" Alexander said coldly.
Elizabeth decided to go, even with a bit of defiance. She didn't care; as long as Amara gave her something, she would take it, considering it her personal property in the future!
With a slightly flushed face, Elizabeth walked up to Amara, respectfully saying, "Grandma."
"Elizabeth, you are so beautiful, and you have a similar aura to Esme. Esme was a strong woman. Although she wasn't Felix's legal wife, she was self-reliant and talented. She didn't spend much time with me, but she was the most filial." Amara said, so gently. Elizabeth knew that Amara liked Esme who indeed had an aura, talent, and good character. Thinking of the deceased Esme made Elizabeth indescribably sad.
She couldn't help but call out, "Grandma."
"Good Elizabeth!" Amara smiled warmly, holding Elizabeth's hand. "Come here, let me put this on you."
She removed the silk from the opened box, revealing a pair of expensive bracelets.
"These crystal bracelets have been passed down in the Windsor family for several generations. I originally intended to give them to Esme, but she didn't live to receive them. Now, I give them to you, hoping they will keep you safe for life." Amara said.
Crystal bracelets?
Elizabeth didn't know much about crystals, but it made her feel they were too precious when hearing that they had been passed down for generations. She pulled her hand back slightly, saying, "Grandma, this gift is too valuable; I can't accept it."
While she was hesitating, she didn't notice the envious looks from Sierra and Sarah standing behind her.
"Mom, if Elizabeth doesn't want it, don't rush to give it to her. After all, it's her first time here," Sierra couldn't stand it anymore, speaking up to stop her.
Elizabeth turned around, meeting Sierra's gaze and Sarah's murderous look.
She suddenly changed her mind. She wasn't taking someone else's things; Amara was willingly giving them to her, and Alexander had told her to accept them.
Thinking of this, Elizabeth decisively accepted the bracelets.
At least they would be her property in the future.
The expensive, high-quality crystals on Elizabeth's wrist complemented her skin tone, making her look extremely noble. However, her chaotic and oversized outfit didn't match the bracelets.
When she returned to Alexander's side wearing the bracelets, Alexander was stunned.
Elizabeth was truly extraordinary.
Anything she wore seemed to shine.
He also knew about these crystal bracelets that were the Windsor family's heirloom. He didn't expect Amara to give them to Elizabeth.
Amara had a good eye.
Alexander couldn't help but tightly grasp Elizabeth's delicate wrist.
This scene was noticed by Sarah, who was sitting opposite. Her jealousy was beyond words.
At this moment, Marcus, sitting at the head of the table, spoke again. "Since Elizabeth is now a member of the Windsor family, she should know some of the family's connections. The Windsor family and the Jones family have been noble families in Sunwillow City for three hundred years. In the early years, both families were in business. In recent decades, the Jones family has been in politics. But the relationship between the Jones family and the Windsor family has never been broken. Today, we asked you to come back partly to see Alice and partly to tell you that Declan is ill. Alexander, you must have heard about it, right?"
Declan was ill?
No wonder Elizabeth hadn't seen Simon at the company since her interview; it turned out Declan was ill.
"I've heard," Alexander said.
"Alexander, since you've heard, why haven't you gone to see Declan?" Marcus asked.
Alexander remained silent.
Declan had been in a high-end hospital in Pariz for over half a month. Alexander had always known, having sent Gideon to deliver some expensive medicines, but he hadn't gone himself.
He had his reasons for not going.
Because Declan's illness was caused by the last time Alice upset him. Declan was determined to have Alexander marry Clara. If Declan were in good health, Alexander could do as he pleased. But now, with Declan seriously ill, if Alexander went to see him and Declan asked him to marry Clara from his sickbed, how could he refuse?
Declan might die on the spot.
Alexander was ruthless, but he didn't want to bear that guilt.
That was why Alexander hadn't gone.
"Speak!" Marcus said.
"I don't want to go!" Alexander said briefly, speaking even less than Elizabeth.
Marcus pointed at Alexander, saying, "Declan once saved Esme's life!"
Alexander immediately stood up, his face cold, saying, "If Declan returns to Sunwillow City from Pariz, I will naturally go to see him. But now, he is still critically ill and hasn't recovered. If I go to see him and tell him that Elizabeth is my wife, do you want him to die now? Do you want him to die from illness or from being angered by me? Do you want your grandson to bear that guilt?"
Marcus was speechless.
Alexander was right.
After a while, he said, "There aren't many people at home today, just your aunt and uncle. Stay for dinner. Sierra specifically instructed the chef to make all your favorite dishes."
"Sure, I'd love to stay for dinner." Before Alexander could answer, Alice responded first.
The old house had a big yard, and she loved playing there. Hearing that there were many delicious dishes, the gluttonous Alice didn't want to leave.
As long as Alice was happy, Alexander would agree.
"Alright," Alexander said.
As they spoke, it was time for dinner. The whole family moved to the luxurious dining room, which was comparable to a palace. Elizabeth noticed that there were only nine chairs and nine sets of tableware at the table.
Did that mean there was no place for her to eat?
