Chapter 44 Her Proposal

"Who I am is not important. What matters is that I will never allow a woman like you to mess with my grandson!" Declan Jones declared as he looked Elizabeth up and down, scrutinizing her.

Her sallow skin, the weariness, the air of debauchery, and the heavy makeup couldn't hide her lowly status. Every time Elizabeth spoke, it seemed like chunks of her thick foundation would fall off.

And her outfit made her appear like the lowest of the low.

How could Elizabeth have the audacity to think that she could mess around with Simon from the Jones family.

"Grandpa, what a coincidence! What are you doing here?" Elodie pretended to just notice Declan and greeted him in surprise.

After asking, Elodie glanced at Elizabeth with a look of triumph.

Elizabeth's entire appearance and makeup were Elodie's handiwork.

Elodie had also arranged for Declan to be here, deliberately letting him see Elizabeth like this.

Elodie had grown up in the Jones family. She was Simon's aunt's daughter, to simply put it, his cousin. Since Simon's aunt and uncle had passed away early, Simon's mother had taken Elodie in and raised her as one of their own at the Jones Mansion.

Therefore, Elodie always considered herself a lady of the Jones family.

In Sunwillow City, as a descendant of the Jones family, Elodie believed she was the most qualified person to marry Alexander. However, at the banquet hosted by Alexander, he had publicly kissed Elizabeth.

This infuriated Elodie.

If Simon hadn't stopped her that day, she would have disfigured Elizabeth's face out of spite.

However, not only did Elizabeth try to seduce Alexander, she also started getting involved with Simon. Though Simon claimed he only saw Elizabeth as a sister, but what about Elodie?

She was the true descendant of the Jones family, Simon's sister.

However, Elizabeth was just a lowly woman!

Elodie wanted Declan to see Elizabeth's lowly nature with his own eyes.

Elizabeth immediately understood that one of Elodie's intentions in inviting her to the yacht party was to make her a laughingstock in front of Simon's grandfather.

Elizabeth couldn't help but sneer inwardly.

She was just a woman who had been out of prison for a month. Because of her connection to Alexander, she kept getting dragged into these rich people's boring games.

"Mr. Declan Jones," Elizabeth said without even looking at Declan, "Even if I wanted to seduce Mr. Simon Jones, he would have to fall for it, right? He's not a child; he's an adult. Doesn't he have any self-control? You're talking to the wrong person. Why should I listen to you?"

Declan was silent. He hadn't expected a woman like her to be so sharp-tongued and unafraid of him, even daring to confront him.

"Besides," Elizabeth continued, "Tell Simon to stop bothering me! And tell Elodie to stop bothering me, too! I'm annoyed and don't have time for these boring games!"

Elodie was silent.

"Oh, Elodie!" Elizabeth stared at Elodie. "You promised me that at the yacht party, if I played the clown well, I'd get a tip of over ten thousand dollars. Since you promised, and I've tried the makeup, don't go back on your word. I'm counting on that ten thousand dollars!"

With that, Elizabeth swayed her hips and left.

Declan was so furious he couldn't speak for a long time. It wasn't until Elizabeth had entered the dressing room that he finally exploded, "I will make sure Simon cuts ties with you! You won't get a single dollar from him!"

With that, Declan stormed off.

Elodie approached Elizabeth with a fake smile and said, "I'm sorry, Elizabeth. I really didn't mean it. I don't know how   grandfather found out about this place. Maybe one of the servants told him. Grandpa has been angry these past few days, saying Simon is involved with a lowly woman, so he's been keeping an eye on me and Simon."

Elodie's explanation was full of holes, but Elizabeth showed no reaction.

She looked at Elodie calmly. "It doesn't matter. As long as I have work at the yacht party and can earn that ten thousand dollars, that's all I care about."

To the rich, she was just a plaything, or worse, someone to be used as a punching bag by the head of a family.

But what did it matter?

She didn't care.

Elizabeth just wanted to make money quickly, earning that ten thousand dollars!

After removing her makeup, she hurriedly took the bus back. On the way, she received a call from Sawyer. "Elizabeth, the draft you gave me was designed by you. You must have the most detailed explanations for the details. How about this, come over early tomorrow, and I'll have you deliver this draft to the other company?" he suggested.

Elizabeth replied, "Okay, but if I deliver it..."

Because the draft was signed by Sawyer.

"You're my assistant and my new student. I've always had you with me while working on drafts, so it's normal for you to be familiar with my work and have detailed explanations. Don't you think?"

Elizabeth was silent.

After a long pause, she mechanically replied, "Yes."

She knew she was just Sawyer's temporary substitute, but what could she do? Finding a job, especially one related to design, was already a stroke of luck for her.

"I understand. I'll come to work early tomorrow. As your assistant, it's my duty to deliver it and explain it to the other party," Elizabeth said obediently over the phone.

On the other end, Sawyer laughed unkindly.

The next day, as soon as Elizabeth arrived at the company, she took the materials prepared by Sawyer, which included the architectural design draft she had submitted a few days ago, and went to the other company alone.

She was received by a secretary who told her, "Miss Spencer, you might have to wait for quite some time. The CEO is here today and is in a meeting. Grant Young doesn't have time to see you as of right now."

Elizabeth replied gently, "That's okay, I can wait. Or you can give Sawyer's proposal to Mr. Young. Maybe he'll look at it during a break."

This design draft was her work, and she was eager to know the other party's opinion. The secretary readily agreed, "Alright, Miss Spencer. You can wait outside. I'll take it in now, but I can't guarantee Mr. Young will look at it."

Elizabeth nodded in understanding.

The secretary took Elizabeth's proposal into the meeting room, just in time for a break. As she placed the proposal in front of Grant, he said, "Mr. Windsor, since you're here, this is a design draft submitted by the Wisdom Group's designer. Please take a look."

Alexander opened the proposal and was stunned.
