Chapter 351 Alice Is the Joy of the Family
Elizabeth quickly intervened, but Alice had already launched her slingshot.
Although it seemed she was aiming at Declan, at the moment she released it, the slingshot was aimed at her great-grandfather Marcus for some reason.
The slingshot hit Marcus, dirtying his face.
Fortunately, this time Alice had shot a candy pellet.
Marcus licked it and found it sweet.
This time, Alice stood with her hands on her hips, glaring at Marcus, saying, "You bullied my mom. I will never call you great-grandpa again. I won't play with you. Every time I see you, I'll hit you with my slingshot until you cry!"
Despite Alice's prank, Marcus wasn't angry at all. Instead, he bent over happily and wobbled towards Alice, "Alice, my dear child, come here. Let me hug you and see if you've grown taller."
"No hugs! I hate you! You teamed up with others to bully my mom!" Alice's small frame dodged quickly.
Nearly a hundred years old, Marcus couldn't catch up with five-year-old Alice.
Alice stopped after running for a while, "Apologies to my mom!"
Marcus remained silent.
"Not apologizing? Then I'll make sure my mom and dad never talk to you again, and I'll never come here!" Alice was always fierce and unyielding when it came to protecting Elizabeth.
Seeing Alice being so tough, Marcus had to give in.
In this war with Elizabeth, despite conspiring with Declan for so many days, Marcus ultimately failed.
At this moment, he suddenly felt old.
He was already over a hundred years old; what was there to be so stubborn about?
As long as Alexander liked his wife, what difference did it make who she was?
Moreover, seeing Elizabeth tearfully reminiscing about Esme and placing her two treasures beside Esme's gravestone, Marcus was moved.
Ultimately, it was his biased view that had been unfair to Elizabeth all along.
A girl with no parents and no support, who had she offended? Life was already hard enough for her, and she still had to endure the oppression of the city's upper circles.
How would he feel if his child were bullied like this?
With this in mind, Marcus lowered his stance and sincerely and humbly bowed slightly to Elizabeth, "Elizabeth, I'm sorry. I've been wrong all along. Can you forgive me?"
Elizabeth remained silent, glancing at Alexander.
Alexander softly asked her, "Do you want to forgive him?"
Elizabeth answered, "No!"
She spoke her true feelings.
Six years of pain and humiliation in Sunwillow City, six years on the run—how could a simple apology ever be enough?
She hadn't done anything wrong or hindered anyone, so she didn't want to wrong herself.
Elizabeth said calmly, "Alexander is my husband. If he comes here and you agree to let me come, I'll come with him. If you don't agree, I won't force it. But I won't forgive someone who has deeply hurt me in a short time, so please don't force me."
Elizabeth spoke with neither arrogance nor subservience.
She wasn't afraid of offending anyone.
Marcus was shocked; Elizabeth was actually very dignified.
She was much more dignified than Clara.
Suddenly, Marcus felt a sense of admiration for her.
Marcus's tone became much more gentle, "I misspoke. I apologize. I shouldn't seek your forgiveness; I should say I will atone for my mistakes in the future."
Elizabeth remained silent.
After a few seconds, she said, "You don't need to. At your age, your health is the most important."
After all, she was a soft-hearted person.
She never pressed others too hard or took advantage of them.
Moreover, these people were Alexander's family, no matter what.
Elizabeth looked up at Alexander, who understood, saying, "Grandpa, you should sit down. Standing is too tiring for you."
Only then did Marcus sit in the main seat. Beside him, Amara poked Marcus several times with her cane, and Marcus accepted it without resistance.
After poking Marcus, Amara called out to the still-angry Alice, "Alice, come here and let me hug you. I didn't bully your mom. I'm the best to your mom. Look, I even helped you hit your great-grandpa."
Alice remained silent, pouting and looking back at Elizabeth.
Elizabeth nodded.
Only then did Alice skip over to Amara and throw herself into her arms, "Great-grandma, try my candy. Is it good?"
Amara looked at the candy Alice was holding, her eyes squinting with a smile, "This isn't candy; it's a pill. You can't eat pills randomly."
"Great-grandma, you're old," Alice shook her head, disapproving of Amara.
Amara asked, "What?"
"This is candy that looks like a pill. It's not a real pill," Alice explained.
"Okay," Amara looked at the pill-like candy, "But my teeth aren't good; I can't eat this."
"Great-grandma, the candy shell is hard, but the inside is soft. You'll know once you try it," Alice coaxed Amara happily.
Amara believed her.
She put the pill-like candy in her mouth and bit down, "My teeth."
The candy was not soft inside at all; it was as hard as steel.
Alice even tricked her great-grandma.
"Great-grandma, you got tricked." Alice clapped her hands happily.
Even Marcus couldn't help but be happy.
Amara, who had been tricked, was even happier, "Alice, you're so naughty!"
Alice's eyes turned into crescents with her smile.
Standing beside her, Elizabeth couldn't help but smile warmly.
Elizabeth was naturally happy that Alice had one more family member.
Not just Elizabeth, but even Felix and Sierra, sitting below, felt the atmosphere was incredibly warm at this moment.
And the Guise Family standing nearby.
Clara and Lila had lost all dignity, but Oliver forgot about that. At this moment, Oliver was stunned.
He watched Alice, who had thrown herself into Amara's arms, and found her so adorable.
Little Alice had the power to make the elderly happy. In this generation, the entire Windsor Family had only one descendant, Alice.
She was a bundle of joy.
Oliver was mesmerized, his eyes showing a hint of longing.
"Mr. Guise, you're quite calm!" Elizabeth's sudden voice startled Oliver.
