Chapter 57 You'll Regret It If You Don't Come
Looking at Alexander observing her, Elizabeth shyly smiled.
Her smile was genuine and full of energy.
Elizabeth's work went smoothly today, perhaps because of the computer she received from Alexander. Her efficiency improved, and the drafts she handed to the office designers left them speechless.
They originally thought she was just an errand girl, even assuming she couldn't use a computer. But to their surprise, the drafts she submitted were so professionally made, with detailed and highly functional annotations.
The designers didn't dare to make things difficult for Elizabeth today.
Elizabeth left work early and went to Esme's hospital room. While chatting, Elizabeth told Esme that Alexander had been particularly kind to her these past two days, not only buying her beautiful clothes but also giving her a high-end computer.
Esme held Elizabeth's hand, smiled, and said proudly, "Elizabeth, I've always told you. Alexander is a good man. He may not talk much, but he's responsible. I can assure you, Alexander will gradually like you. Do you know why?"
Elizabeth really didn't know why he was treating her differently from before, with kindness.
She was searching for the answer. Why did Alexander's attitude towards her change so drastically?
Esme continued, "Alexander really hopes someone will love architectural design as much as I do. If there is such a girl, he will definitely like her."
She added, "Because for a long time, the reason he could eat well, dress well, and receive such a good education while living abroad was all because I took on architectural design projects to support him and pay for his expensive tuition."
Elizabeth was speechless.
She finally understood why Alexander's attitude towards her had changed so drastically.
So, at this moment, seeing Alexander, Elizabeth felt even more open, and her smile towards him was sincere.
She was grateful for Alexander's recognition, his appreciation of her talent, and the things he had provided her.
Seeing Elizabeth's sweet smile, Alexander didn't say anything.
He was always a man of few words.
Elizabeth was used to it, knowing that his heart wasn't as cold as his appeared to be.
Elizabeth and Alexander chatted with Esme for half an hour, fed her, and then left together. When they reached the parking lot outside the hospital, they saw Gavin standing outside the car.
The weather had been a bit chilly these days. Seeing Gavin stomping his feet and rubbing his hands, Elizabeth took out a small, palm-sized mini hand warmer from her bag, walked up to Gavin, and said with a smile, "Here."
Gavin was surprised.
The Elizabeth in front of him, smiling brightly like a student, made Gavin feel a bit dazed.
Was this the same Elizabeth who always looked cold, composed, mature, and indifferent?
She seemed so warm and proactive.
"I've noticed several times that you're different from other drivers. Other drivers wait in the car for Alexander, but you always stand outside. When Mr. Windsor is about to get in, you open the door for him. You're very dedicated, but you should also protect your hands," Elizabeth reminded as she smiled sweetly at Gavin.
Gavin didn't know what to say.
He was indeed different from other drivers. They waited in the car because they were just drivers, but he wasn't. He was not only a driver but also Alexander's most trusted bodyguard.
Gavin stood outside the car not just to open the door for Alexander but to protect him. He didn't wear gloves in the cold because if someone tried to kill Alexander, taking off gloves to fight would delay or impede his movements
So, Gavin never wore gloves, even in the coldest winter. No one had ever thought to give him a small hand warmer.
Elizabeth's gesture touched Gavin.
He even wondered, 'How a girl like Elizabeth could end up pregnant in prison.
Did she have some hidden troubles?'
Gavin silently vowed to find out who had done those terrible things to her.
He quickly opened the car door and said to Alexander and Elizabeth, "Mr. Windsor, Mrs. Windsor, please get in."
Elizabeth blushed suddenly, then smiled calmly, saying, "Thank you."
During the ride, she saw Alexander open his laptop to work. Elizabeth remained quiet and didn't make a sound. When they got home, she asked him, "Are you hungry?"
Alexander asked her, "Can you cook?"
"Yes, as long as it's not too complicated. Mr. Windsor, if you're hungry, I can cook for you," Elizabeth said enthusiastically.
Alexander was taken aback with this new discovery.
Since he provided her with clothes and a computer, in just a day or two, Elizabeth seemed like a different person.
Elizabeth not only talked more but also seemed cheerful and sunny.
She really was a girl who became happy and positive with a little kindness given to her.
"Okay," Alexander said.
Elizabeth put down her bag and went to the kitchen.
Unfamiliar with the kitchen and considering how late it was in the evening, she made a simple tomato pasta. In about ten minutes, she brought out a bowl and placed it in front of Alexander.
Alexander took a bite and looked up at her.
"Is it delicious?" she asked with a smile.
Alexander nodded in approval.
She revealed, "I just added some mushrooms to the tomatoes, which makes it taste better."
Alexander didn't say anything more and continued eating the pasta.
The simple pasta Elizabeth made was indeed delicious. After finishing, Alexander still felt like he could eat some more. Meanwhile, she also finished her small bowl of pasta. Without him asking, she took the initiative to wash the dishes and clean the kitchen.
Alexander suddenly realized that Elizabeth was a diligent and practical girl.
Elizabeth came out of the kitchen and, without chatting with Alexander, went to her room to work on her drawings late into the night.
She stayed up late but didn't feel tired.
She suddenly felt that life hadn't abandoned her. Alexander's impression of her had changed, the clothes and computer he provided her, work gradually improved, and the baby in her belly was growing.
Her life still held many beautiful hopes and aspirations.
The next day.
Elizabeth got up early, went to the hospital to take care of Esme, and then went to work. She received a call from Clara during lunch.
"Elizabeth, I want to see you, just outside the hospital where Mr. Windsor's mother is. If you don't come, you'll regret it," Clara said on the phone.
