Chapter 326 Misunderstanding

Elizabeth looked at Alexander in confusion. "What do you mean?"

Alexander tried to explain again, "I told you a few days ago to bring your friends over to our house."

Elizabeth remained silent.

She had heard it at the time but had forgotten about it, not paying much attention.

Then, she turned around and looked at Alexander seriously. His changes were becoming more and more noticeable. He even cared about her friends now.

"You're acting a bit strange," Elizabeth said.

She was no longer as terrified as she had been when Alexander took her to try on dresses the other day.

Alexander didn't answer her.

She continued to ask, "What's going on?"

"Nothing!" Alexander replied.

But Elizabeth still believed it had something to do with her. "Is it because The Windsor Manor doesn't want to acknowledge me, so you don't want to take me back to meet your family and friends?"

Seeing that Alexander didn't answer, Elizabeth assumed it was true. "It's okay! I don't want to go anyway. I'm really scared of The Windsor Manor. Every time I've been there, the experience has been terrible, so it's fine if we don't go. I really don't care about that. I just want Alice to have a complete family, and..."

She glanced at Alexander.

Then she spoke from the heart, "As long as the three of us can be together, I don't care about the formalities. I don't care about any of that."

She was talking about the three of them.

Six years ago, she had wanted to form a family with Alexander, but fate had many twists and turns. It wasn't until now that she slowly began to trust him, to see him as reliable, and to open her heart to him.

But unexpectedly, Alexander said, "It's not about the family gathering."

"What?" Then what is it?

Alexander finally spoke, "When I asked you to learn to drive a while ago, I told you I might be very busy for a while and might not be in Sunwillow City. If I'm not here, I can't give you and Alice rides anymore. So you need to learn to drive yourself."

He had mentioned that he couldn't always pick her up from work on time because he had a lot to handle.

She nodded, saying, "I understand."

"Make sure to bring your friends over often," he emphasized again.

Elizabeth asked, "Why?"

She really didn't understand him.

He had always been cold, and now he was so considerate and warm.

Wasn't he the one who opposed her making any friends, whether men or women?

Alexander didn't answer her question again.

Elizabeth could see that he didn't want to answer. No matter how much she asked, he wouldn't respond.

When they arrived home and got out of the car with Alice, Elizabeth suddenly said to Alexander, "You take Alice upstairs first. I want to talk to Gavin about Julia. Is that okay?"

Elizabeth was just asking, knowing Alexander wouldn't agree.

But Alexander said, "Alice, go upstairs with Daddy. Mommy needs to talk to Gavin for a bit."

Alice immediately bounced upstairs with Alexander.

Elizabeth was silent, staring in shock at the backs of Alexander and Alice.

Gavin, smiling, said to Elizabeth, "Mrs. Windsor, do you remember what I told you six years ago?"

"What?"

"I said that Mr. Windsor is actually a very warm person. It's just that some of his life experiences have made him cold and ruthless, but that's not his true nature. His true nature is to be a good husband and a good father."

Elizabeth smiled faintly and lowered her head.

If she said she couldn't feel that he was becoming more gentle, she would be lying to herself.

Even if Gavin hadn't said it, Elizabeth could feel Alexander's change.

"Mrs. Windsor." Seeing Elizabeth immersed in her happiness, Gavin hesitated to interrupt her, but it seemed Elizabeth had something to discuss with him.

Elizabeth glanced at him and then remembered. She immediately said, "Gavin, what's going on with Alexander? I know he's paying more attention to me and Alice, but why is he urging me to bring my friends over?"

"Actually, this is part of Mr. Windsor's plan. When he decided to take over the Windsor Group seven years ago, he already had this plan. He wants to conquer a city on an island near Nebula."

Declan had even come to talk to her about this today.

Elizabeth didn't interrupt Gavin, just gesturing for him to continue.

"But later, because Mr. Windsor was searching for you and your daughter all over the country, he spent a lot of energy and didn't have the time to deal with the island. Now that you are back with him, he naturally wants to complete what he couldn't before."

"Why is he so obsessed with an island? Conquering a city on an island is no small feat," Elizabeth said. Even though she didn't understand much, she knew it wouldn't be easy.

Gavin replied, "Because of Mr. Windsor's mother. Her entire family was from the island, but due to various reasons, all of her family members died. You know she was forced to leave her home and come here, becoming Felix's mistress without any status. So, avenging her and her family is Mr. Windsor's lifelong mission. His greatest wish is to conquer that island. The reason he later chose to take over the Windsor Group was also to prepare for conquering that island."

"But what does that have to do with me bringing my friends over?" Elizabeth asked curiously.

"Because he's afraid you'll be lonely, and if you encounter any trouble, you won't have anyone to help you. To put it simply, Mr. Windsor wants you to build your own support network," Gavin said.

Elizabeth suddenly understood. "So that's it."

After a pause, she asked, "Gavin, I have a question, and you must tell me the truth!"

Gavin immediately put on a serious expression and said, "Mrs. Windsor, please ask."

In a slightly sorrowful tone, Elizabeth asked, "During the six years I was on the run. Did he hire many assassins to hunt down Samuel and me?"

Gavin immediately frowned, asking, "Mrs. Windsor, what are you talking about!"

"Wasn't it you guys?" Elizabeth frowned and asked. This was the biggest issue between her and Alexander.

Elizabeth had always been wary of Alexander, thinking he was unpredictable, mainly because during her six years on the run, she was constantly hunted by him.

Because of this, Samuel's leg was crippled.

Gavin suddenly said, "Mrs. Windsor! I know who was hunting you!"
