Chapter 352 The Truth Elizabeth Knows
Oliver looked at Elizabeth in shock.
At this moment, there wasn't a trace of a smile on Elizabeth's face. There was only hatred, a silent, deep-seated hatred.
Oliver remained silent, so terrified that he couldn't speak for a long time.
"No, I..." Oliver stammered, but Elizabeth cut him off again.
"You raised me for eight years? Mr. Guise, ask yourself honestly, did you really raise me for eight years? And during those eight years, besides giving me a meager allowance, you never showed me any care. Moreover, by the time I went to college, I had already stopped asking you for money. Not only that! I repaid those eight years by going to prison once, didn't I?"
Clara remained silent.
She originally wanted to refute Elizabeth, but she suddenly realized that her life was at stake. If she spoke, she might be killed immediately.
Not to mention Clara, even Oliver didn't dare to argue, "Elizabeth, your imprisonment..."
"About my imprisonment, I totally understand you. Because you only have one precious daughter, Clara, how could you let her endure the suffering of prison? So, as an adopted daughter, I became the scapegoat, right? Mr. Guise, your love for your biological daughter is truly profound. I am deeply impressed by such fatherly love."
Oliver stammered, "You..."
His fear intensified.
He suddenly realized that Elizabeth might be implying something.
"What do you know?" Oliver stammered.
After asking, he immediately regretted it.
He practically admitted it himself.
Elizabeth gave a desolate smile, "I'm an orphan, and never had a father! My mother died while I was in prison. What could I possibly know? What do you think I should know? Or is there something you think I shouldn't know?"
Oliver remained silent.
"But Mr. Guise," Elizabeth suddenly smiled, "there's one thing I think you missed; you have poor judgment."
Oliver mechanically asked, "What thing?"
In this situation, he was constantly worried that Elizabeth would tell Alexander, "Alexander, kill the entire Guise Family."
Elizabeth continued, "When you bailed me out of prison to save my husband, you should have told him and taken care of me. If you had done that, you would now be Alexander's father-in-law! But you missed it!
"Not only did you miss it, but you also repeatedly opposed me. You didn't expect that despite your cruelty, I am still alive, and I am still Alexander's wife. So, do you think you have poor judgment? Someone with your judgment shouldn't buy stocks. You might miss a big blue-chip stock right under your nose."
Elizabeth's words sent chills down Oliver's spine. He even felt that her words were eerie, and cold sweat kept forming on his forehead.
Elizabeth saw it all clearly, "Mr. Guise, you're sweating. Did you do something guilty?"
Elizabeth's question made Oliver suddenly sit on the ground, gasping for air. He shouted in panic, "Elizabeth, I..."
He was so close to saying what he wanted to say.
But Elizabeth wouldn't let him speak. "Do you want to give me an explanation for my mother's death?" Elizabeth asked coldly, "No need, I'll investigate it myself! Mr. Guise, you can do as you please!"
Elizabeth didn't even say she wanted revenge or anything like that.
But that was enough to scare Oliver to death.
"As long as you have a clear conscience!" Elizabeth added.
Oliver remained silent.
He didn't dare to think about it.
It was at this moment, seeing Elizabeth in a gown, wearing the crystal shoes Alexander personally put on her, and holding hands with Alice, that Oliver felt a deep pain that cut to the bone.
He suddenly felt that Elizabeth was like a resilient grass, unburnable by fire, and undrownable by rain. As long as there was a bit of warm wind, she could flourish with vibrant life.
Oliver's heart felt like it had been gouged out, leaving a bloody hole.
He remembered when Elizabeth was wrongfully imprisoned, when she came out of prison to save her mother and willingly gave her virginity to Alexander, and when she was pregnant and being hunted.
All these memories made Oliver afraid to think further.
He sat on the ground, holding his head, not looking at Elizabeth.
Elizabeth then looked at Lila and Clara.
Lila and Clara were trembling, seemingly unable to control their fear, especially Clara, whose face was still dirty and hadn't been cleaned, looking as ugly as possible.
"Was the game fun?" Elizabeth asked.
Lila remained silent.
Clara said, "Spare our lives, and my grandfather will help your husband take that island. For my grandfather's sake, spare us, please?"
Clara was so scared that she bit her tongue several times while speaking.
At this moment, dignity and marrying Alexander didn't matter anymore. Her life did.
Seeing Elizabeth remain silent, Clara directly knelt before her, "Elizabeth, I beg you, for the sake of you being our family's adopted daughter, for the sake of my parents raising you for eight years; spare us, please?"
"How shameless you are!" Elizabeth sneered.
Then she held back her tears and said, "Your family raised me for eight years?"
Oliver and Lila remained silent.
"Get out!" Elizabeth said.
"What did you say?" Clara thought she misheard.
"Get out!" Elizabeth repeated.
Clara was the first to react. She got up and ran away, stumbling.
She didn't even care about her parents.
She couldn't possibly look back at her grandfather Declan, who had always protected her.
At the moment Clara ran out, Declan's heart felt like it was being cut by a knife.
He suddenly remembered how many times Simon had told him, "Grandpa, I think Elizabeth is more like my aunt's daughter."
Declan looked at Elizabeth with a face full of sorrow.
His dignity had been completely lost by himself and the Guise Family today.
In the midst of the awkwardness, Elizabeth suddenly called him, "Declan!"
Declan's heart skipped a beat. Was it finally his turn? He closed his eyes, no longer looking at Elizabeth.
