Chapter 375 Her Husband is the Best at Holding Down the Fort

Alexander spoke to Elizabeth, his voice low and filled with pain. "Recently, Gavin has been investigating the relationship between Oliver's family and your mother. He found out that six years ago, during the time you were taking care of my mother in the hospital, Oliver had imprisoned your mom for a while."

Elizabeth grabbed Alexander's hand and asked excitedly, "My mom isn't dead, right? I don't hate you anymore! What I said earlier was just out of anger. Tell me quickly!"

Alexander patted her back to comfort her, "Elizabeth, calm down."

"Say it!" She urged Alexander repeatedly.

Alexander looked at Elizabeth with a solemn expression. "You need to calm down. The most important thing right now is to take your dad's ashes and leave. I'll tell you the details when we get back to the hotel. There are too many people here."

Elizabeth nodded. "Okay."

Alexander held her and helped her into the car, then gently kissed her forehead and said, "I'll handle the rest."

Elizabeth nodded.

Next to her was Alice, still asleep.

Looking at Alice's sweet sleeping face, with a smile on her lips, Elizabeth felt much more at ease.

She sat by the car window, watching her husband communicate with the people outside. Having been with Alexander for a while, Elizabeth knew him could handle everything.

Alexander naturally exuded an imposing aura. Wherever he went, people treated him with utmost respect and caution.

Elizabeth leaned her head against the window and thought that if only Quiana were still alive, how wonderful that would be.

Suddenly, Elizabeth remembered the old woman she had hit the first time she drove, whose temperament was very similar to Quiana's.

Outside the car, Alexander was negotiating. Elizabeth couldn't hear what he was saying, but she saw everyone around him nodding and bowing. After a while, several more cars arrived, and a group of well-dressed people got out. These people respectfully called out to Alexander from a distance, but Alexander remained indifferent.

After a while, one of the men from the group came to Elizabeth's car, and she instinctively sat up straight and rolled down the window.

"Mrs. Windsor," the impeccably dressed man in his forties greeted Elizabeth respectfully.

Elizabeth instinctively glanced at Alexander. She knew that the reason these people treated her with such respect was because of Alexander.

Elizabeth smiled faintly. "Hello."

"Mrs. Windsor, we didn't know you were coming back to your hometown. We apologize for any neglect and hope you can forgive our rudeness," the man apologized profusely.

Elizabeth pressed her lips together. "It's fine."

"Mrs. Windsor, we will stop the construction for now and have arranged for specialists to come. They will arrive shortly to help retrieve your father's ashes and find a suitable place for reburial. However, the location must first meet your satisfaction. Also, regarding the relocation compensation and the cost of your father's burial, we have calculated it to be one million dollars. If you find it insufficient, we can increase it."

Elizabeth remained silent. She was never one to extort money. She hadn't even thought about any relocation compensation; her main goal was to take her parents' ashes away. Because this land held no good memories for her.

Nico had always told Elizabeth and Quiana, "If my legs were fine, I would take you both away from here, and we would never come back!"

Elizabeth knew her parents never wanted to stay here and be bullied.

It would be better to take Nico to Sunwillow City and let him rest in a well-maintained cemetery. That way, Elizabeth could visit Nico with Alice and Alexander whenever she had time.

Thinking of this, Elizabeth said calmly, "When my father was alive, the best person to him was Bodhi, who is very honest. I hope you can help Bodhi in the future. As for the one million dollars in relocation compensation, I don't want it. Bodhi has been looking after our family for so many years. Give the compensation to him."

The man said immediately, "Mrs. Windsor, you are truly a good person. Alright, I will inform him now."

After a while, Bodhi came to Elizabeth's car with tears in his eyes. "Elizabeth, how can I accept such a generous gift from you?"

"Grandpa Evans, please take it," Elizabeth said firmly.

Then she got out of the car, helped Bodhi into the crowd, and said coldly, "I am making a statement here today. I am voluntarily giving the one million dollars in relocation compensation to Bodhi. If anyone dares to bully his family in the future, they'll regret it!"

None of the villagers who had bullied Bodhi's family dared to speak.

Although Elizabeth was alone, her husband was a fearsome figure. All the influential people present were acting according to her husband's wishes, and the villagers could see that.

The villagers who usually belittled others immediately started to flatter Bodhi. "Mr. Evans, if you need anything in the future, just let me know. I'll be happy to help."

"Let Ondine and her husband come back. We can start a business together, and life will get better and better."

Bodhi was moved to tears.

Elizabeth leaned her head on Alexander's shoulder, looking at Bodhi with relief.

Just then, her phone rang. Her phone had been off, but Alexander had retrieved it after dealing with Remy. The screen was cracked and hadn't been repaired yet.

Although she couldn't see who was calling, Elizabeth guessed it was probably Julia or Harper.

She answered immediately, "Hello?"

On the other end, a malicious laugh suddenly rang out. "Elizabeth, are you enjoying being played by men right now?"
