Chapter 118 Gave Dad a Black Eye
Elizabeth was floored.
She finally got it—Alexander was taking Alice away, and she had to go back to Sunwillow City with him.
"Are you planning to torture me slowly?" Elizabeth asked.
Alexander gave her a look and said, "What do you think?"
Elizabeth took a step back, laughing bitterly. "You have every right to. A man as powerful as you, no one in Aldoria would dare mess with you. I crashed your wedding and probably did worse. For someone like me, fresh out of prison with shady ties to multiple men, being pregnant with your kid is a huge disgrace for you. How could you let me off easy?"
Alexander sneered, "You're pretty sharp! Now, hand over Alice!"
Elizabeth was confused. "What?"
"Alice is my hostage now, so give her to me!" Alexander said, his face cold as ice, though he softened a bit when he looked at Alice.
Alice was so strong, she not only ruined his custom-made shoes worth two hundred grand but also gave him a black eye.
Alexander hadn't even checked how black his eye had gotten from Alice calling him a raccoon.
Only his own daughter, Alice, could get away with that!
Anyone else would've been torn to pieces for such disrespect.
Elizabeth said, "Alice will be scared."
Before she could finish, Alice piped up, "Mom, give me to this bad bear. I'm not scared."
Before Elizabeth could react, Alexander had already grabbed Alice from her and said, "Let's go!"
"Go back with you now?" Elizabeth asked.
Alexander turned back, mocking her. "You think I'd let you stay here a few days to plan an escape?"
Elizabeth sighed, "I need to sell my house."
"Don't worry about that!" Alexander snapped.
Watching Alexander leave with Alice, Elizabeth didn't even get a moment to say goodbye to the small house she'd lived in for five years. She got into Alexander's car, heading back to Sunwillow City.
Gavin was driving.
He was super polite to Elizabeth, even calling her, "Mrs. Windsor."
Elizabeth sneered inside, thinking how ironic that title was.
But in the car, she felt a weird sense of peace, knowing escape was no longer an option. She'd been worn out, worrying about where Alexander had taken Dorian and where Samuel had gone.
But she realized worrying was pointless. So, she decided to get some sleep in the car.
Glancing at Alexander, who was in a perfectly tailored suit holding Alice, she thought the whole situation was bizarre. But Alexander looked calm, even a bit gentle.
Alice was already asleep in his arms.
Elizabeth closed her eyes too.
Oddly enough, she actually fell asleep in the car, deeply and peacefully, without any dreams. When she was sound asleep, she felt someone touching her. She woke up with a start to see Alexander covering her with his expensive suit.
"What are you doing?" Elizabeth asked, sitting up in shock.
Alexander's voice was ice-cold, "If you get sick, that's on you! But until you pay off what you owe me, you'd better stay healthy!"
Elizabeth turned her head and saw Alice, who had been asleep, now wide awake and sitting between her and Alexander. To an outsider, they might actually look like a family.
Alice's eyes were wide open, deep in thought.
After his icy remark, Alexander glanced at Elizabeth and Alice, then leaned back and closed his eyes, clearly planning to rest for a bit.
Elizabeth let out a sigh of relief.
Just as she was about to pull Alice into her arms, she was surprised to see Alice climbing onto Alexander's lap. He kept his eyes closed, letting her do it.
Seeing that Alexander didn't react, Alice grinned mischievously and suddenly punched his other eye hard with her tiny fist.
The driver, Gavin, saw this in the rearview mirror and couldn't help but laugh.
Elizabeth was silent, a chill running down her spine.
Alexander sat up abruptly, one hand holding Alice to keep her from falling, the other covering his eye.
Alice, triumphant, said, "Bad guy! Didn't see that coming, did you? I can't beat you, but I can sneak attack you! Now both your eyes are black and blue. Let's see how you bully my mom again!"
Gavin kindly reminded, "Alice, having black eyes doesn't mean being blind. You just gave your dad black eyes, but he can still see."
"Drive the car!" Alexander ordered.
"Yes, Mr. Windsor!" Gavin replied, immediately focusing back on the road.
Elizabeth, still in shock, held Alice close and stammered, "I'll pay you back, however much you want. I'll do whatever it takes."
Alexander, with his blackened eyes, said expressionlessly, "Fine." Then, he went back to sleep.
After a moment of daze, Elizabeth gently coaxed Alice, "Sweetie, listen to mommy. Don't hit him again, okay?"
Alice nodded. "Alright then, mommy."
They didn't speak for the rest of the journey until they reached the nearest airport. Gavin got the boarding passes, and they boarded the plane.
In just half a day, Elizabeth was back in her place of sorrow, Sunwillow City.
She had lived here for eight years, spending two of those in prison. As soon as she was released, Alexander took her back to serve Esme for two months. Then, she was inadvertently drawn into Aldoria's high society.
Thinking of the past, Elizabeth felt a whirlwind of emotions.
Now that she was back, she was still living in the shadows.
And now, there was also Alice.
After they got off the plane, a driver came to pick them up and took them to the most prestigious hospital in Aldoria.
"Why did you bring us to the hospital?" Elizabeth asked.
Alexander didn't respond.
Gavin explained softly, "Mrs. Windsor, Mr. Marcus Windsor had a sudden illness."
Elizabeth bit her lip, not wanting to see Marcus.
But as soon as they got out of the car, Alexander took Alice's hand and walked inside. Elizabeth had no choice but to follow.
To Elizabeth's surprise, the first person she saw in the hospital was Clara.
