Chapter 106 Escape

Oliver asked, "What did you just say?"

Lila clung to Oliver's leg, panicking. "Oliver, think fast! What are we gonna do now? Alexander's locked us in here. We can't get out. If Clara gives birth and Alexander finds out the kid isn't his, we're dead meat, Oliver."

"Dad! Do something, please!" Clara cried, crawling over to Oliver and hugging his leg.

Oliver's eyes flared with anger. He grabbed Lila's hair and snarled, "What the hell is going on? Spill it!"

Lila, wincing in pain, said, "I just wanted Alexander to hate Elizabeth more. I thought since her reputation was already trashed—not only humiliated by Wesley and Declan, but also caught between Owen and Samuel—she was already infamous in all of Sunwillow City, and even Marcus got involved."

Lila continued, "If we could stir up trouble at Clara and Alexander's wedding and make Elizabeth cause a scene, Alexander would definitely kick her out, maybe even make her miscarry, and then we could have someone finish her off. That was my plan. I thought if it worked, we wouldn't have to worry about her anymore."

"How was I supposed to know that even after Elizabeth caused such a scene, Alexander didn't kick her out but just had the bodyguards throw her out without hurting her? I didn't see that coming, Oliver!" Lila cried, frustrated and angry.

She was explaining to Oliver that her original plan was to get rid of Elizabeth so they could live without worries.

After hearing Lila's explanation, Oliver yanked her hair again, almost pulling it out. "You're so vicious! Not only did you take everything from her, but you also wanted to kill her like that! How could you be so cruel!"

Lila, in pain, snapped back at Oliver, "Oliver! You were the one who abandoned Elizabeth and her mother! You jerk! Now you're blaming me? If I don't get rid of her, Alexander will get rid of us! I did it all for you! For you!"

Oliver, deflated by Lila's outburst, let go of her hair, looking at her with a cold, defeated smile. "But the fact is, Alexander didn't kill Elizabeth. Now we're the ones trapped by him. In six and a half months, when Clara gives birth, Alexander will just need a paternity test to find out the kid isn't his. By then, we're all dead. Do you get it?"

"So, Oliver, what do we do now?" Lila, not bothering to fix her messy hair, asked Oliver, trembling and crying.

Oliver, trying to stay calm, suggested, "First of all, Elizabeth has to die!"

Lila sneered, "Elizabeth should already be dead by now!"

Oliver was shocked. "What?"

Lila said proudly, "This was a detailed plan. First, I had an indecent video featuring Owen, Elizabeth, and Samuel together. Then I had Clara tell Elizabeth that she was the one who had a one-night stand with Alexander, which would drive Elizabeth to crash the wedding, making Alexander so furious that he would kill her on the spot."

"But he didn't kill her!" Oliver grumbled.

"So, I had a backup plan!" Lila said viciously. "Even if Alexander didn't kick Elizabeth to death, she wouldn't survive. As soon as she left the wedding venue and stepped onto the road, someone would run her over!"

Oliver looked at Lila in disbelief. "You bribed the driver?"

"Yes!" Lila sneered coldly. "I wanted Elizabeth dead! Only then could our daughter Clara be happy! But I never expected that even after Clara and Alexander walked into the wedding hall, Alexander would back out at the last moment!"

Oliver gazed at Lila with a sinister expression. "I didn't expect you to be so ruthless either!"

Lila fell silent.

Oliver suddenly laughed it off. "If she's dead, it will be well-deserved. She should have died in prison, or during the kidnapping, or when Wesley was involved. She's lived an extra month already. If she's dead, so be it!"

Lila looked up at Oliver, her eyes full of hope. "If Elizabeth is dead, what's our next step to escape?"

"We're not escaping!" Oliver said. "We need an accident to cause Clara to lose the baby, and we need to blame it on the bodyguards and servants. That way, even if Alexander wants to hold us accountable, he can't. And Clara will still be his legal wife."

Lila excitedly hugged Oliver's neck. "Honey, you always have a plan."

Clara looked at Oliver with a mix of tears and smiles, full of sorrow.

The family pinned all their hopes on the possibility that the bodyguards and servants would slip up.

However, after being watched for three days, the Guise family realized that framing someone was impossible.

The servants Alexander hired were all well-trained, efficient, and cautious, never approaching the Guise family.

The bodyguards outside were even more so.

The entire Guise Mansion felt like a prison, with the family nearly in despair.

On the other hand, Alexander was also somewhat desperate.

Three days had passed, and Gavin had searched the entire city, only to find no trace of Elizabeth. Simon insisted he didn't know anything.

Simon only said he saw someone trying to run over Elizabeth.

Alexander immediately had Gavin check the surveillance footage to see who was trying to run over Elizabeth. However, the footage showed it was an unlicensed heavy truck.

Elizabeth was still missing.

Along with Elizabeth, the Bell family's heir, Samuel, was also missing.

Three days later, Elizabeth and Samuel had followed a pre-arranged route to a small, remote town in the south.

Samuel drove for two days and nights with a bleeding, unbandaged hand, without sleeping. When he finally reached the small town, he collapsed onto the steering wheel.

He was burning with a high fever, completely unconscious.

"Samuel," Elizabeth cried out.
