Chapter 239 Mr. Windsor Has Many Rivals in Love
Alice and Gavin were silent.
"Miss Windsor, you've been defending your mom against your dad all along, but now, you've fallen out of favor with your mom," Gavin said, gleefully hitting Alice's sore spot.
Forgotten, Alice immediately raised her chin. "As long as my mom is happy."
Gavin was silent.
He finally understood. Alice's mother, Elizabeth, not only had many male suitors, but she was also adored by many people. Alice was Elizabeth's most loyal little fan.
At this moment, Gavin wanted to sigh in front of Alexander, "Mr. Windsor, raising a daughter is really great. I finally understand why you went to such great lengths, spending six years and millions of dollars, to bring your daughter and her mother back. Turns out, you were looking for your own misery."
Looking up, Gavin saw Alexander's cold, piercing eyes staring at him, scaring him into saying, "Mr. Windsor, if there's nothing else, I'll be going now."
With that, he turned and ran to his car.
Once in the car, he looked through the glass and saw Alexander holding Elizabeth with one arm and leading Alice with the other into the elevator.
Gavin suddenly realized that he was the one feeling the pain of being a single man, driving away quickly.
Meanwhile, Alexander, holding Elizabeth and leading Alice, entered the elevator and asked her, "Why are you back so early today?"
Elizabeth didn't know how to say, "Hmm."
She looked up at him. He was still the same, the man with a calm, cold, and intimidating demeanor. He was indeed such a person who had even eliminated his half-brother, but he had saved Samuel's leg.
And he never told her.
"Was it for me?" she suddenly asked him.
"What?" Alexander was puzzled.
"Nothing." Elizabeth suddenly stopped asking. She couldn't betray that male doctor, nor could she betray Owen. She didn't even know if she told him that she knew Samuel was fine now and was grateful to him, would he get angry and drive Samuel away again?
Because she couldn't guess what he was thinking, not knowing when he would get angry or when he would be gentle.
All she needed to know now was that he hadn't harmed Samuel, which was enough reason for her to be grateful to him.
Alexander looked at her inexplicably. She rarely showed such a shy and submissive side, usually quiet but not docile.
But today was different.
Could it be that she was being ostracized at the company and wanted her husband to back her up? Alexander thought as he looked at Elizabeth.
It seemed she wasn't that kind of person.
She was always aloof and indifferent. The so-called bullying and ostracism that ordinary women experienced didn't exist for her, because she didn't care.
To be clear, Elizabeth was a woman who could handle being ostracized.
Looking at Elizabeth, who gently said to him, "Take Alice to wash her hands. Come back and eat after washing your hands. I helped make some pasta today. It'll get cold." Her tone was as if she and Alexander were a loving couple.
Alexander was even more stunned.
Alice, who was holding his hand, was also stunned. "Mom! You're so different today!"
Elizabeth immediately asked, "What's wrong, Alice? Why are you wearing so little today? Are you cold? Have you been wearing so little all day at kindergarten?"
Alice gave Elizabeth a look. "You just noticed I'm wearing so little. Let me tell you, since I got out of Gavin's car, I've run around our neighborhood, and you didn't even notice. Luckily, I didn't run into any kidnappers. If I had, and they took me away, by the time you remembered me, I'd already be on a plane flying far away!"
Elizabeth rolled her eyes at Alice, her face turning red then.
She had indeed been so focused on thanking Alexander as soon as he got out of the car that she had ignored Alice.
"Sorry, baby," Elizabeth sincerely apologized to Alice.
"Alright! I forgive you!" Alice said, always magnanimous towards Elizabeth.
In other families, it was the mom who spoiled the child.
In Alice's family, she spoiled her mom.
"Let's go, bad dad, let's wash our hands," Alice said happily, holding Alexander's hand and heading to the bathroom.
At the bathroom door, Alexander still looked back at Elizabeth.
Elizabeth pursed her lips at him. "Go wash your hands."
Alexander decided to ask her during dinner if she was being ostracized at the company.
As soon as he and Alice finished washing their hands and came out, they saw Elizabeth's phone ringing at the dining table. Elizabeth's phone rarely rang because in Sunwillow City, few people truly knew her.
Could it be Owen calling?
For some reason, Elizabeth nervously glanced at Alexander, whose face indeed looked unpleasant. She instinctively looked down at the caller ID.
She breathed a sigh of relief.
The caller ID showed an unknown number.
So, Elizabeth deliberately answered on speakerphone. "Hello, who is this?"
"Elizabeth, hello, I'm your colleague, Kieran, the handsome guy sitting to your left." A cheerful male voice came from the other end.
This caught Elizabeth off guard.
Kieran Turner continued with a cheerful laugh, "Elizabeth, don't worry. I've already informed Anna and told her you had to leave for work. You don't need to worry about anything..."
"Thank you, Mr. Turner," Elizabeth quickly cut him off.
Kieran continued, "Elizabeth, a few of us guys can tell you're a capable and honest woman. You're different from those gossiping women. They say you're plain, but you're actually prettier than all the women in the company. We all think you're the most beautiful."
"I have pasta cooking. I have to go," Elizabeth said awkwardly and hung up.
Then she looked at Alexander and Alice, who had just come out of the bathroom.
"Mom, you're amazing. Is that guy chasing you handsome? If he is, let's invite him to dinner," Alice said, not noticing Alexander's already darkened face, and looking at Elizabeth with admiration.
Elizabeth was silent.
