Chapter 164 Elizabeth Hits Someone

Elizabeth looked up at the woman across from her, saying coldly, "Sorry, Miss, I don't know you!"

"You!" Elodie almost choked on her words, "Are you blind? You don't recognize me!"

Elizabeth had no intention of engaging with Elodie.

She had just returned to Sunwillow City, brought back by Alexander. She had offended so many people here back then, and many people were hoping for her downfall. Just the other day, she had offended a celebrity in a private room booked by Alexander.

She had lost count of the people she had offended.

She simply didn't care anymore.

It was like the saying that one more straw wouldn't break the camel's back.

As long as Alice was loved and safe, acknowledged by the Windsor family, Elizabeth wasn't afraid of offending anyone in Sunwillow City.

Without even looking at Elodie, Elizabeth said expressionlessly, "Miss, you're the one with a foul mouth. I don't know you. Are you a celebrity? Sorry, a celebrity showed off in front of me a few days ago, and I didn't recognize her either. Because I never pay attention to celebrities. Please move aside, I need to get into the elevator!"

Elodie was so angry that she almost spat blood, saying, "Elizabeth, stop pretending!"

Then she turned to Owen, who was standing silently to the side, shouting, "Owen, are you dead? Tell your old flame Elizabeth who I am. What are you afraid of?"

It was only then that Elizabeth noticed Owen behind Elodie, looking troubled, unhappy, and evasive.

Seeing that he couldn't avoid it, Owen stepped forward and smiled at Elizabeth. "Elizabeth, how are you doing these days? Has Alexander done anything to you? I haven't found any information on what you asked me to look into, but don't worry, as soon as I have news, I'll let you know immediately."

"Owen, what are you talking about? How can you speak to Elizabeth like that in front of me? Do you even care about your fiancée? Owen! I am your fiancée, okay! What secrets do you have with Elizabeth? And you plan to contact her again in a few days? They say Alexander brought her back to sell her body to pay off his debts. What, do you want to be one of Elizabeth's buyers too?" Elodie said.

Elizabeth raised her hand, slapping Elodie across the face.

Elodie was stunned.

Elizabeth's expression was cold, her tone still flat. "Miss, since you know I was brought back by Alexander to be sold, what do I have to worry about? You, a high-and-mighty rich person, are being arrogant to someone like me, who has no background and no dignity. So you deserve to be hit! Even after being hit, your fiancé still talks to me. Can you stop him?"

Elodie and Owen fell silent.

Elizabeth was still the same as she had always been. She listened to no one, showing no joy or sorrow, always wearing a face of restrained desire. This left Elodie at a loss for how to deal with her.

But Owen understood Elizabeth.

He knew that there was a lot of helplessness and bravado behind her restrained and lonely expression.

She had no one to turn to, having no means to fight back. But in just a week since she returned to Sunwillow City, she had been threatened by Clara and now ridiculed by Elodie.

What could Elizabeth do?

"Owen! Slap her hard, and take off your shoe to hit her! Ruin her face! Let's see how she plans to sell herself to pay off Mr. Windsor's debts! Be a man for once! She's hitting your fiancée!" Elodie screamed at Owen, completely disregarding the fact that they were in a public place.

Because of Elodie's obstruction, the elevator had already gone up.

Elizabeth just quietly waited for the elevator to come back down.

As for whether Owen would hit her, she didn't care at all.

However, Owen turned and slapped Elodie hard on the other side of her face, shouting, "Elodie! You've gone too far! Go home!"

Elizabeth was stunned. This woman was Elodie?

She looked closely at Elodie again, realizing it really was her.

But she had only seen Elodie a few times six years ago and hadn't remembered her face. It was only now that she recognized her.

She wasn't surprised that Owen and Elodie were together; it wasn't something she cared about.

But Elodie, having been slapped by both Elizabeth and Owen, was utterly humiliated and furious. She covered her face with both hands, crying, "Owen, you dare hit me? Do you think that Declan doesn't care about me anymore after he found Clara, so you can bully me too? Owen! Just you wait! And you, Elizabeth, you wait too!"

With that, Elodie ran off crying.

Owen looked at Elizabeth, smiling awkwardly. "I'm sorry, Elizabeth. My fiancée was out of line. I apologize on her behalf."

"It's fine," Elizabeth said indifferently.

The elevator arrived, she was about to get in when Owen grabbed her again.

"Do you need something?" Elizabeth asked. She was in a hurry to go upstairs to submit her resume at a cyber café, not wanting to get entangled with Owen here. She didn't want to risk someone taking a video and accusing her of trying to climb the social ladder.

"Elizabeth," Owen said urgently, seizing the moment to express himself. "No matter what you need from me in the future, even if it costs me my life, I will help you. If you tell me now to marry you, I will marry you immediately. I will take you and Alice far away. If you say the word, we will never have any more children; we will only have Alice, and I will treat her like a treasure. Okay, Elizabeth? Even if it means dying, I will fight Alexander to get you out of this living hell. Tell me, what do you need me to do?"

Elizabeth found it amusing, saying, "If you wanted to marry me so badly, why did you get engaged to Elodie?"

Owen smiled bitterly. "When I got engaged to Elodie, I didn't know you would come back. The Tudor Group was on the verge of collapse, and my engagement to Elodie was a way to save my family. As their son, I have to do something for the family. I'm thirty years old; it's time I took on some responsibility."

Elizabeth suddenly smiled warmly. "Owen, you've finally grown up and become responsible."
