Chapter 177 Alexander Openly Shows His Jealousy
Remaining silent, Simon didn't know how to comfort Elizabeth, just feeling the same sorrow in his heart. At that moment, it suddenly started to drizzle, as if on cue.
Within seconds, the rain intensified.
Elizabeth instinctively raised her hand to shield her head, as Simon immediately pulled her back into the lobby on the first floor.
Once they were steady, Simon took out his phone and made a call, "Amanda, can you come down and bring the documents up for me?"
Elizabeth was silent. Wasn't Simon supposed to go upstairs? Why was he calling someone to come down and get the documents?
Soon, a beautiful woman in professional attire and high heels came down. Simon handed the documents to Amanda Saunders, saying, "Tell your CEO that I won't be coming up. I have something to take care of."
Amanda smiled, "Okay, Mr. Jones." With that, she went back upstairs.
Simon looked at Elizabeth, asking, "Where are you going now? I'll take you."
Keeping silent, Elizabeth wanted to go home.
After a pause, she said, "No need, Mr. Jones. I can go by myself."
Simon smiled, "Are you going to Alexander's place? Are you afraid of Alexander?"
Elizabeth replied, "He's actually quite good to me."
Simon laughed, "Then what are you worried about?"
Elizabeth also smiled a little.
Because of the call from Alice earlier, Elizabeth was anxious to go back, wanting to find out what was going on with Alice. Living in this city wasn't easy, so Elizabeth didn't want Alice to cause trouble.
If there was indeed trouble, Elizabeth wanted to protect Alice as soon as possible. So she wanted to get home quickly.
Thinking this, Elizabeth didn't insist any further, saying softly to Simon, "Thank you, Mr. Jones."
Simon smiled contentedly. It was a comfort to him that Elizabeth agreed to ride in his car. After all, six years ago, he had misunderstood her. Later, seeing her risk her life to save Owen, he was deeply moved. It wasn't just Samuel who was touched.
"Samuel..." On the drive, Simon occasionally asked Elizabeth.
Elizabeth's expression stiffened.
Samuel was a painful memory for her. To this day, she didn't know which country Alexander had exiled Samuel and his parents to. She really wanted to know.
"I don't know where he is now," Elizabeth said, lowering her head.
"I'll help you find Samuel. As soon as I have any news, I'll let you know immediately," Simon said.
"Thank you!" Elizabeth smiled faintly.
"Your daughter..." Simon asked again.
"She's doing well," Elizabeth replied briefly, looking out the window instead of at Simon.
If Simon didn't ask any more questions, Elizabeth wouldn't say another word.
She was still as calm and detached as she was six years ago, always seeming to be lost in thought. Simon knew that Elizabeth had suffered too much, especially in high society, where people treated her like a plaything. She had wrapped herself in layers of protection.
Elizabeth didn't want to interact much with the outside world or cause trouble.
Seeing that Elizabeth spoke very little, Simon stopped asking questions, drove straight to Alexander's place. As they neared Alexander's residence, the rain gradually stopped.
The car entered the community, stopping in front of Alexander's building. Elizabeth and Simon got out one after the other.
Simon took out a business card and handed it to Elizabeth, saying gently, "Elizabeth, when you first asked to borrow money from me, I didn't lend it to you. That will make me feel guilty for the rest of my life, which I can never erase. It won't happen again. If you ever need money in the future, no matter how much, come to me. Don't make things difficult for yourself."
Elizabeth took the card, saying, "Thank you, Mr. Jones."
She didn't really want the card. Why would she need it? She and Alice were with Alexander, so they wouldn't lack money. Besides, she had found a job and would work diligently to earn her own living.
She didn't need to rely on anyone.
But Simon had helped her before, and she didn't want to hurt his feelings, so she accepted the card.
Just as Elizabeth took Simon's card, another car pulled up behind them. Simon and Elizabeth both looked towards the car.
Elizabeth's expression changed slightly.
What a coincidence, Alexander had returned?
For some reason, Elizabeth felt afraid that Alexander might be jealous. But then she thought, how could that be? Why would Alexander be jealous?
Elizabeth was overthinking it.
The first person to get out of the car was Gavin. Seeing Simon, he greeted him politely, "Mr. Jones, what a rare guest!"
As he greeted Simon, Gavin also opened the back door, and out came Alexander, holding Alice who perched on Alexander's shoulder, looking at Simon.
Simon and Elizabeth felt a bit awkward.
Alexander's expression was extremely complex, while Alice's eyes were bright and beautiful.
She didn't dislike Simon at all. She wriggled out of Alexander's arms and cheerfully approached Simon, looking up and sweetly asking, "Sir, are you my mom's friend?"
Simon gave Alexander a meaningful look, then looked at Alice, who barely reached his knees.
Alice was so cute, bearing a slight resemblance to Elizabeth.
Simon immediately bent down, saying gently, "Of course! I'm your mom's friend."
Alice jumped up happily, saying, "Sir, you're so handsome. You're a real hunk. I'm so happy."
Simon was immediately intrigued, saying, "Tell me, why are you so happy?"
Alice answered innocently, "Because I love it when handsome guys are around my mom. It would be even better if there was a bouquet of flowers."
Simon was silent.
Elizabeth was silent.
Alexander and Gavin, standing behind, were silent.
Gavin, who had a sore throat these past few days, almost choked on his own saliva when he heard Alice's words.
No way!
Alice was too biased, wasn't she?
When there were two women around Alexander, she would use tricks to make them fight, protecting her mom's interests. But when it came to Elizabeth, not only did Alice not protect Alexander's interests, but she even encouraged having many handsome men around Elizabeth?
She was really too biased, wasn't she?
Gavin was about to say something fair when he saw Alexander loosening his tie who looked like he was ready to punch Simon.
