Chapter 194 Getting Retribution

Harper was stuck between the seat and the bearing of the swivel chair. The seat being tilted to one side, Elodie's hip was poked somewhere and was bleeding.

Elodie's posture at this moment was even more ridiculous.

She was half-squatting, but her hip was stuck by the chair. She was holding the table with both hands, looking like a dog struggling to poop. It was as ugly as it could get.

Coupled with her sharp wailing, it was even uglier.

When they first heard the sound and saw Harper's posture, the colleagues in the office couldn't help but laugh out loud.

They laughed halfway before realizing they shouldn't.

By this time, blood was already flowing from Harper's back.

"Are you all dead? Still laughing, call an ambulance quickly, call the police, arrest that bitch Elizabeth! Elizabeth, you murderer, you are trying to kill me in broad daylight, I will make sure you go to jail!" Harper howled in pain while yelling at Elizabeth.

Elizabeth was also stunned, knowing that Harper had tampered with the chair.

But she didn't expect Harper to be so ruthless. Fortunately, she discovered it early, returning the chair to Harper. Otherwise, it would be Elizabeth who was injured at this moment.

Elizabeth laughed coldly, "Was it you who harmed me, or did I harm you? Let's see each other at the police station. I think the company's surveillance won't lie, right?"

After saying that, Elizabeth turned, leaving.

The colleagues in the office were all stunned.

Harper was even more stunned.

Then she shouted, "Come back! Elizabeth, come back! Don't call the police yet."

But a colleague had already made the call.

However, she didn't call the police but the HR department.

That colleague was also shrewd, knowing that as a new colleague who had only been working for two days, it was unlikely that Elizabeth would be so bold as to frame Harper. Even if she wanted to frame her, Elizabeth wouldn't have access to a broken chair.

This could only have been done by Harper first.

So, the colleague chose to call the HR department first which would definitely protect Harper.

In less than a minute, the HR manager, Joseph Long, arrived.

At the same time, colleagues from upstairs and downstairs also rushed over to watch the commotion, surrounding Harper's office.

Soon after, the ambulance arrived.

Joseph didn't immediately address who was right or wrong but first sent Harper to the hospital. Elizabeth also went to the hospital to see how serious Harper's injury was.

The doctor quickly bandaged her up. When he came out, he said something that made Elizabeth gasp, "Fortunately, the injured person was wearing thick padded pants. If it weren't for them, the broken part of the chair could have directly pierced into her body. She could have been injured, and at worst, it could have caused lifelong infertility, even piercing her intestines and causing death. But this injured person is very lucky. Because she was wearing thick pants, she only got a minor scratch. She just needs to rest for two days."

Elizabeth was silent.

It wasn't even winter yet, and the office had air conditioning and heating. Most of the women in the office were wearing skirts or slim-fit pants. The reason Harper was dressed so thickly today was that her skirt got caught in the elevator in the morning and was torn, making it unwearable.

Harper had temporarily found a pair of winter padded pants in the office as a replacement.

But Elizabeth was wearing thin pants today.

In other words, if Elizabeth had sat on that broken chair, she might have had her intestines pierced and died.

"Elizabeth! How can a new employee like you be so vicious? Do you know this is malicious injury?" Joseph scolded Elizabeth outside the emergency room.

Elizabeth calmly asked, "As a new employee who has only been working for two days, where did I get such a chair?"

After a while, Joseph said, "They all said you pushed this chair to Miss Williams."

Elizabeth said, "Yes! Where did I push this chair from?"

"From where? From your own seat! This chair was supposed to be yours! Elizabeth! Don't try to argue with me. Explain it to the police!" Joseph shouted, angry at Elizabeth's calm response.

Elizabeth laughed, "Joseph, are you trying to tell me that as a new employee, you assigned me a broken chair that could kill me? You didn't hire me to work but to deliberately harm me. But your plan was discovered by me, so this disaster was transferred to Harper. Is that right?"

Joseph was silent.

After a while, Joseph angrily asked, "What the hell is going on!"

Elizabeth sneered, "You can check the surveillance!"

After saying that, she turned, leaving.

Elizabeth went straight back to her office, waiting for the company's decision.

When the office people saw Elizabeth return, they were initially too scared to speak. Later, Linda, who was braver, came to Elizabeth and sarcastically said, "Elizabeth! We really misjudged you. You are quite bold! You even dared to frame Harper. You framed her so badly that she ended up in the hospital. I'm really impressed."

"Jealous?" Elizabeth asked.

"What?" Linda didn't understand.

Elizabeth said with a calm face, "Jealous that on my first day at work, Mr. Lavien favored me? Jealous of my keen insight, seeing that Harper had tampered with my chair and quietly returned the chair to her, thus avoiding a disaster? More precisely, you originally wanted to see me get impaled by the chair and die, but you didn't get to see that scene, so you are jealous and resentful, which is why you are speaking to me so harshly now. Am I right?"

Linda was furious, saying, "What nonsense are you talking about! You are slandering me!"

"Am I slandering, or are you hiding the truth? That depends on the law. Sorry, I'm not a judge, I can't decide!" Elizabeth sneered, shrugging innocently.

As soon as she spoke, everyone was scared.

They had forgotten about the law, just initially wanting to see Elizabeth make a fool of herself. After all, it was Harper who played the prank. However, they didn't expect that the chair Harper pushed over could be fatal.

"What do you want!" Linda's tone softened.

With the eyes darkening, Elizabeth said coldly, "I don't want anything. I just want to work well."
