Chapter 126 Come
Elizabeth's face turned beet red as she cleared her throat, bent down halfway, and asked Alice, "Hey sweetie, did you sleep okay last night? Were you scared?"
Alice nodded, a tiny hint of pride on her face, tugging on Elizabeth's hand to make her squat down. She whispered in her ear, "Mommy, the bed at the bad guy's house is super comfy, like a princess's cradle. I even had dreams and slept really well. I wasn't scared at all. I was really brave. Did you sleep well, Mommy? Were you scared?"
Alice's bed was custom-made by Alexander. The edges were shaped like a crescent moon, and it was surrounded by flower garlands, making it look like a dream. Alice fell in love with it the moment she saw it yesterday.
But she was mad at Alexander yesterday, so she didn't show it. After a good night's sleep, she wasn't as angry or scared of him anymore.
Still, she wanted to protect Elizabeth. Looking at Elizabeth now, she thought her mom still seemed very scared of Alexander.
Elizabeth smiled slightly at Alice and said, "As long as you slept well, I'm relieved."
How could she tell Alice that she spent the whole night with the bad guy, Alexander?
"Mommy, did the bad guy prepare a bed for you? Did he let you sleep last night?" Alice asked worriedly.
Elizabeth was silent.
Mia, standing nearby, couldn't help but laugh.
Alexander, whom Alice called the bad guy, looked at Alice without any expression and said, "I didn't prepare a bed for your mom, so she slept with me last night. I held her the whole night!"
Elizabeth's face turned even redder, her head almost touching the floor.
Alice, however, innocently asked, "Mommy isn't a child, how could she be held by you?"
"But she gets scared sleeping alone. Back in Collinsport, you used to hold your mom while sleeping. Now it's my turn," Alexander said without changing his expression.
"Oh." Alice couldn't find the right words to refute Alexander.
She thought what Alexander said made sense. She used to sleep with Elizabeth, now having a beautiful bed to herself. However, Elizabeth had no one to hold her. Maybe Alexander wasn't that bad?
Alice looked up at Alexander questioningly.
"Alice, your mom hasn't slept enough. She needs to continue sleeping. You eat breakfast first, and then come with me to the office," Alexander said.
Alice asked, "Why are we going to the office?"
Elizabeth also got anxious, asking, "Why are you taking Alice? Wherever Alice goes, I go!"
Alexander turned around, looking at Elizabeth with a strange expression and said, "What are you thinking? Do you have any clothes? Are you going to run around the streets in my oversized shirt?"
Elizabeth immediately shut her mouth.
"Can't you leave Alice at home? I can't run around dressed like this," Elizabeth asked again.
"No! She's my hostage!" Alexander replied mercilessly, looking down at Alice, who was looking up at him, and ordering, "Go eat your breakfast! Your mom needs to rest. I'm taking her to rest now."
Without giving Elizabeth a chance to react, Alexander scooped her up and carried her to his bedroom.
As they reached the door, he glanced back to see Alice still watching him.
With a stern look from Alexander, she quickly scampered off.
She wasn't scared of him anymore; she actually found it kind of funny.
Elizabeth, now in his arms, whispered, "Didn't you say your bedroom is full of traps and hidden weapons?"
"Yep."
"Then I..." She froze, afraid to move. What if she accidentally set something off and got hurt?
"This room has a biometric system. Your body is covered in my scent, especially deep inside. You're safe here now," Alexander said.
Elizabeth blushed again.
She realized she was really disappointing, blushing at the drop of a hat, each time revealing her innermost thoughts to him.
Alexander put her back in bed and called out, "Mia, bring a down comforter."
The down comforter was quickly brought in. Alexander covered Elizabeth with it, and she lay there, naked, under the pure white down comforter, watching Alexander change clothes.
He didn't mind her presence at all as he stripped off his loungewear and changed into his going-out clothes.
Alexander had a great physique, looking tall and lean in clothes, but very muscular when undressed.
Especially in a suit, he looked as good as any leading man in Hollywood.
Finding herself a bit dazed, all Elizabeth could think about was his bronzed, steel-like muscles and how weak she had been in his arms yesterday, even not noticing when Alexander left.
It wasn't until someone knocked on the door that she snapped out of it.
"Mrs. Windsor," Mia called from outside.
Elizabeth found the title ironic and chose not to respond.
"Mrs. Windsor, please answer so I can come in. Otherwise, if I enter, the room's traps will activate." Mia asked again.
Elizabeth hadn't expected that, immediately saying clearly, "Come in."
Instantly, Mia walked in, carrying a tray with a smile as she approached Elizabeth, and said, "Mrs. Windsor, it's time for breakfast. Mr. Windsor specifically asked me to make this for you."
Mia was very mild-mannered, looking like she was under fifty, almost motherly. Elizabeth couldn't help but eat the food.
One spoonful at a time, she finished the bowl of porridge.
Mia took the tray away, soon returning with a medical kit. Seeing the kit, Elizabeth immediately said, embarrassed, "I'm fine, no need for medicine."
Having someone else apply medicine to her was truly humiliating. Even though Mia was a woman, it was still embarrassing, as if her private life was being exposed.
"Mrs. Windsor," Mia said tenderly, "It's okay. Just think of me as a doctor. I'm a professional, trust me. If your body isn't taken care of properly, you'll suffer in the future. You have a daughter, and she's so adorable. You might have more children in the future. You need to ensure your own health to provide them with warmth and love."
Elizabeth thought Mia was right. No matter what, she wasn't dead yet. She had to live. Only if she lived would Alice have a better chance of surviving.
"Come on, spread your legs," Mia said gently.
