Chapter 229 Daughter More Partial to Her Mother

Here, Elodie sneered inwardly, continuing, "Clara, I didn't want to tell you this, but that woman got humiliated and hurt by your fiancé, Mr. Windsor, and now she's causing trouble for me. Not only is she secretly messing around with my fiancé, Owen, but she's also messing around with Simon."

She added, "I'll tell you another piece of news. I heard she's now hooked up with Robert from the Lavien family. It's just my bad luck that I don't have the chance to live in the Jones Mansion anymore, nor can I be considered a socialite in Sunwillow City. I can only watch helplessly as that bitch, who uses the lowest means to seduce all the men in high society, seduces my fiancé without being able to do anything about it."

On the other end, Clara laughed mockingly, "Elodie! What you said is true. You're indeed not some rich lady in Sunwillow City. For so many years, the only reason my grandpa raised you like his own granddaughter was because he lost a daughter back then, my mom! My grandpa missed my mom so much that he poured that affection onto you. Now that I'm back, you're nothing. But I'm not a heartless woman. You can't suppress that Elizabeth. But I can!"

Hearing this, Elodie was secretly pleased.

In fact, Elodie didn't like Clara either. Not just dislike, she could say she hated this nouveau riche woman. But Elodie had no choice; Clara was Declan's biological granddaughter.

She could only flatter Clara, praising her, and then using her to get rid of Elizabeth.

Elodie was a bit more scheming than Clara, saying in a seemingly casual tone, "That Elizabeth is really hateful. To be honest, Clara, I'm quite afraid of her."

"You're afraid of her?" Clara laughed wildly.

"Yes, how could I not be? If I weren't afraid of her, I wouldn't have told you where she works. I'm not afraid of anything else about her. The only thing I'm afraid of is that she's now Alexander's captive, watched over by him every day. But Alexander doesn't give her any money, so she has to earn money to pay him back. Because of this, she messes around with Owen, and other men." Elodie said.

She added, "If she gets pregnant again, whose child would it be? Even if no one admits it, do you think Alexander would let these people off? If she insists she's pregnant with Mr. Windsor's child, Owen would be in trouble too."

Clara was immediately infuriated by Elodie's words, cursing, "If Elizabeth dares to get pregnant with my fiancé's child again, I'll tear her apart!"

Elodie laughed silently, "Don't get worked up, Clara. Let's discuss this further when you get back from Pariz."

"But I can't wait!" Clara said, in her anger, hitting the wall, breaking the skin on her hand, and crying out in pain.

Elodie, on the other end, hung up the phone, very satisfied.

After hanging up, she sat alone in her hospital room, laughing coldly, "Elizabeth! Competing with me for Owen, I will make sure you meet a dreadful end! Go to hell!"

Of course, Elizabeth couldn't hear Elodie's various curses against her.

At this moment, she and Alexander had just picked up Alice, arriving home.

All the way, it was Alice talking to her parents, so Elizabeth didn't specifically explain to Alexander why she was sitting in the café with Owen. She didn't ask what he and Owen talked about after she left.

The car arrived home, and as usual, the family of three got out, took the elevator, and went home.

Seeing them return together, Mia immediately beamed, saying, "Winsors, you're all back. Please wash your hands and sit in the dining room; dinner will be ready soon."

"Thank you, Mia," Elizabeth said politely, then took Alice to the bathroom to wash their hands.

"Mom, you and Dad seem a bit off today," Alice, who was very observant, said.

Elizabeth asked gently, "What's wrong?"

She and Alexander were off?

They didn't even seem like a normal couple!

A normal couple should be laughing and joking, sometimes happy, sometimes bickering, but always making up soon after, right?

But she and Alexander?

She spoke little, and he didn't say much either.

She couldn't guess what he was thinking.

At this moment, she didn't know how he would question her next.

But she didn't care.

Alice, however, whispered mysteriously to Elizabeth, "Mom, do you have a boyfriend outside?"

Elizabeth was stunned, then laughing in exasperation, "Alice! How do you know so much at such a young age! What boyfriend! Do you even know what a boyfriend means?"

Alice pouted, saying defiantly, "I know what a boyfriend means. It means Dad is really afraid of losing you. He's afraid your boyfriend will take you away."

Elizabeth was silent.

After a while, she said to Alice, "Don't talk nonsense!"

Alice laughed again, then motioned for Elizabeth to squat down and whispered in her ear, "Don't worry, Mom, I won't tell Dad. I can see he's afraid of losing you to another man. Anyway, it's not like someone is trying to take Dad from you. But someone is trying to take you from Dad. I'm more than happy about it."

Elizabeth was silent.

If Alice let Alexander know she said this, would Alexander still insist on interacting and playing with her every day?

As it turned out, Alexander still would!

After dinner, Alexander, as usual, played with Alice. It was hard to understand how he could be so different. When he was cold and ruthless, he was like the Grim Reaper. But in front of Alice, he was a perfect father.

Elizabeth truly couldn't figure out Alexander's mind.

While Alexander was coaxing Alice, she went through her usual routine of washing up and doing a facial treatment. Just as she finished and came out of the bathroom in her loungewear, she ran into Alexander.

He was standing right outside the bathroom door.

He had a cold aura about him, probably just having taken a cold shower.

He habitually took cold showers, even in the dead of winter.

Elizabeth shivered from the cold emanating from him, stammering, "What are you doing?"
