Chapter 308 Clara's Embarrassment
At this moment, Alexander was gently wiping the sweat off Elizabeth's nose.
His movements were so careful, as if he was afraid of disturbing the sweat on Elizabeth's nose. His expression showed an immense amount of affection for Elizabeth.
Others were stunned.
Elizabeth herself, however, remained very calm.
She wasn't quite used to it, but ever since Alexander returned from Pariz two days ago, perhaps out of guilt, he had been exceptionally kind to her. Especially at home, he even personally washed her hair and bathed her, meticulously and gently cleaning even the most private parts.
After bathing her, Alexander would blow-dry her hair himself, holding her to sleep, and letting her rest on his arm all night.
She had grown accustomed to him.
Even though Elizabeth feared him and couldn't figure him out, she had become used to facing the "grim reaper" in others' eyes every day.
For instance, now, everyone was trembling with fear of Alexander, even not daring to breathe loudly. Even though Alexander's expression was particularly calm today, those people were still so scared of him that they were about to cry.
But Elizabeth's expression remained unusually calm.
As he wiped her sweat, she asked him, "Didn't you say you wouldn't come to the office to find me?"
"Yes," Alexander continued wiping her sweat.
"Then why aren't you attending to your business? What are you doing here with me?" Her tone was somewhat accusatory.
"Don't want to make our relationship public?" Alexander asked Elizabeth in return.
Elizabeth remained silent.
"You still want to maintain a single image to attract more handsome guys, so they can revolve around you? So I can have more competitors?" Alexander asked again.
"You're so boring!" Elizabeth was furious.
Never had she felt so annoyed by him as at this moment.
Wasn't he always busy, managing his time down to the second?
She still had several blueprints to review with everyone!
Yet here he was, wiping her sweat and asking such boring questions.
Lifting her eyes helplessly and coldly, Elizabeth saw Clara in the distant hallway.
Clara's lips quivered, "Mr. Windsor, what are you doing here?"
Originally, Alexander was looking at Elizabeth with a calm expression. When he turned to look at Clara, his expression remained calm, but it gave a sense of tension that made one's pores tighten. "Can just anyone come to this company? Tomorrow, I'll have to ask Mr. Jones. If that's the case, I might reconsider collaborating with this company."
Clara was so scared that she hurriedly explained, "No, Mr. Windsor, I..."
"What are you here for?" Alexander asked.
Clara fell silent.
At this moment, Elizabeth suddenly took Alexander's arm and calmly smiled at Clara, "Miss Guise, are you here to settle a score with me?"
"Elizabeth, don't slander me!"
"Do you think you can call me Elizabeth?"
Clara gritted her teeth.
Elizabeth rolled her eyes, saying, "Although I'm just an ordinary employee of this company, I know there are cameras in the hallway. From the front desk to here, you've been cursing all the way. Your purpose for coming to this company has long been revealed by your curses. Should we check the surveillance footage?"
"So, want to smash my face again? Clara, I want to ask, have I offended you? Even if I have, you have no right to hit me. Why did you come here with such aggression, holding a shoe sole to hit me?"
Elizabeth's words were slow but forceful.
At this moment, Clara wished she could run away in fear.
Although she hadn't been present at the conspiracy-filled banquet the day before yesterday, she knew very well how Alexander had calmly dealt with those people.
She claimed not to fear Alexander, but at this moment, Clara was indeed scared to see Alexander's calm demeanor, not even glancing at her, yet still exuding an invisible killing intent.
She feared that in the next second, she would end up like Linda, reduced to a pool of blood.
She also feared ending up like Elodie, with all her bank cards frozen, so poor she couldn't even afford a meal.
Despite Alexander's current calmness, Clara knew better than anyone how ruthless he could be.
"No," Clara forced a smile, "Elizabeth, you're my sister. You grew up in the Guise Family. I just returned from Pariz, and as soon as I got back, I heard that Elodie and Molly bullied you. I came to the company to stand up for you."
Clara's words were so insincere that even Sable, standing behind her, couldn't bear it.
Sable's eyes reddened with grievance as she questioned Clara, "Miss Guise, that's not what you were saying just now. You were saying you wanted to smash Mrs. Windsor's face! You even called her a bitch!"
Sable had heard about Elizabeth's situation over the past two days and genuinely felt sorry for her.
Elizabeth had been working at the company for a month, always smiling at Sable when she came and went. Sometimes, if Sable was busy, she would even cover her shift for a while. When Sable saw her being attacked online the day before yesterday, she felt terrible.
When the situation turned around, Sable was happier than anyone.
So today, when Sable saw someone coming to trouble Elizabeth again, threatening to smash her face, she couldn't hold back and directly confronted Clara.
Clara was furious, scolding, "Aren't you afraid of being fired? This company belongs to my cousin! Elizabeth is my sister, and this is our family matter! Stay out of it!"
With that, she turned to Elizabeth with a fawning smile. "Elizabeth, remember when we were kids..."
Elizabeth cut in, "When we were kids, you always ate well while I watched like a beggar. When we grew up, I had to go to jail for the trouble you caused. And today, you came with a broken shoe sole to smash my face. If I'm not mistaken, you're here to openly compete with me for my husband, right?"
"You..."
"Are you the homewrecker?"
"No."
"Never thought about going after my husband Alexander?"
Clara was silent.
Elizabeth looked up at Alexander, asking, "Would you take a woman like her as your mistress?"
