Chapter 27 You're Really Ugly

Gavin couldn't see Alexander's expression; he also couldn't hear any sound for a long time.

"Mr. Windsor, Mr. Windsor?" Gavin called out.

On the other end, Alexander's voice was extremely cold, "Got it."

Gavin added, "Mr. Windsor, do you have any other instructions?"

"I don't have time these days. The day after tomorrow, make sure to bring Clara to The Windsor Manor and wait for me outside," he instructed. Alexander wanted to use Clara to fend off the women Marcus had invited for him.

"Understood, Mr. Windsor. I'll hang up now," Gavin said respectfully.

"One more thing," Alexander suddenly called out to Gavin.

"Mr. Windsor, do you have any other instructions?" Gavin inquired.

"Follow her!" Alexander's tone carried a hint of anger.

Gavin inquired, "Follow who?" As soon as he said this, he slapped his forehead and said, "Got it, Mr. Windsor. I'll follow Miss Spencer right away!"

Gavin drove all the way behind Elizabeth, but her movements were simple. After leaving the hospital, Elizabeth first went to a bakery to buy some bread, eating while she waited for the bus. When the bus arrived, she got on and headed straight to Alexander's place.

It wasn't until Elizabeth got on the elevator that Gavin left.

Elizabeth originally wanted to tell Alexander that Esme had Clara slapped today, she waited in the living room for a long time, but Alexander never came back. She didn't dare to push the door to Alexander's bedroom again.

After waiting for a long time, Elizabeth called Alexander, but his phone was turned off.

Elizabeth had no choice but to go to bed.

The next day, she first went to the hospital to visit Esme as usual, and then went to the construction site to work on odd jobs.

The work at the construction site was dirty and tiring. Even though Elizabeth was used to hardship, it was still difficult for her, especially since she was pregnant. Every time she moved bricks, she had to be careful of the baby in her belly.

By the end of the morning, she was so tired that she had no appetite for lunch.

Even without an appetite, she had to force herself to eat, or else she wouldn't have the energy to work in the afternoon.

While Elizabeth was eating at the construction site, Owen arrived.

Elizabeth wasn't too surprised by it.

There were too many idle rich people in this world, while she was just a pregnant woman earning her keep at the construction site.

Owen didn't disturb Elizabeth's work; he just inspected the place seriously.

After more than an hour of inspection, Owen finally came to Elizabeth and said, "Take a break. You see those big men are also tired and taking a rest."

Elizabeth just smiled and sat down to rest.

After Elizabeth finished her shift, Owen's inspection wasn't over yet. Elizabeth packed up and went to the roadside to wait for the bus. As a result, she waited for more than an hour, but no bus came to the station.

If it got any later, she wouldn't have time to visit Esme at the hospital.

Elizabeth grew increasingly anxious.

From a distance, Owen, sitting in his car, watched all this with a subtle smile.

All around were properties developed by his Tudor Group. With just a word from him, the bus driver turned back at the previous stop.

There were few passengers here anyway, sometimes not even one for days.

Elizabeth didn't know that no matter how long she waited, it would be almost impossible for her to catch a bus today.

Owen's car quietly pulled up in front of Elizabeth. He offered, "Elizabeth, get in. I'm heading back and can give you a ride."

Elizabeth looked at her dusty clothes and shook her head in refusal. Then she said with a smile, "No, I'll wait for the bus."

"It's so late; there probably won't be any buses. Or maybe the bus broke down somewhere. You won't be able to catch one unless you call a cab," Owen said kindly.

'Call a cab?' Elizabeth thought in her heart.

She barely had enough money for food.

"Get in." Owen urged as he personally opened the car door for Elizabeth, and she didn't hesitate any longer and got in.

"Where are you going?" Owen asked gently.

"Windsor Hospital," Elizabeth said briefly and then fell silent.

On the way, Owen glanced at Elizabeth several times. She quietly looked out the window, and even when they arrived, she didn't initiate any conversation with Owen.

But Owen wasn't in a hurry.

The slower the pace of the game was, the more he anticipated it.

When the car stopped, Owen was the first to open the door for Elizabeth. She was tired from a day's work and her legs were a bit numb from sitting too long. As she got out, she stumbled and accidentally stepped on Owen's shiny leather shoes.

"Sorry!" Elizabeth quickly took out a tissue from her bag and squatted down to wipe Owen's shoes.

Owen stood in front of the car, looking down at Elizabeth wiping his shoes, as if she were kneeling at his feet, submissively kissing them.

He thoroughly enjoyed it.

Elizabeth happened to look up at Owen. She asked, "Mr. Tudor, is this clean enough?"

"Very good!" Owen praised from above.

Meanwhile, across the street, Alexander's car had just left the hospital. Through the tinted car window, he saw Elizabeth squatting at Owen's feet, wiping his shoes.

Alexander's car drove further and further away until it disappeared.

He had been very busy lately, having just taken over the Windsor Group, with many things that needed his immediate attention. The most troublesome issue was that several conglomerates wanted to arrange a marriage with him.

Alexander despised business marriages the most.

After managing most of the company's affairs, Alexander spent the past two days dealing with his relatives and the socialites they invited.

The next afternoon, coinciding with the family banquet, Alexander wrapped up his work at the company and drove to the old house. In the back seat, he had an evening gown specially prepared for Clara.

The dress was custom-made in Accraville, tailored to Clara's temperament and height. Alexander wanted Clara to shine at the banquet, making all those women give up on marrying him.

The car stopped at a fork in the road not far from the old house. Alexander took out his phone and called Gavin. "Hey, are you there yet?"

Gavin immediately replied, "Five more minutes, Mr. Windsor."

Five minutes later, Gavin arrived on time. The car stopped, and Alexander waited at the door for Clara to get out. Clara, however, was wrapped tightly in a veil and hat.

"What's wrong with you?" Alexander was displeased and asked, "Why are you wearing a veil?"

At this critical moment, what was Clara being so dramatic about?

Alexander lifted Clara's veil, and she looked at him with a mix of tears and laughter. "Mr. Windsor, I've been using ice packs for three days, but the marks on my face are still a bit visible. I..."

Alexander blurted out, "You look ugly!"
