Chapter 236 I Want to See Samuel
Elizabeth turned around and saw that it was indeed Linda mocking her.
In a calm and unruffled tone, she said, "Linda, are you jealous of me? Jealous that I just got here and already have a position above you, and jealous that I'm younger than you but have more admirers? How do you even survive? Such a failure."
Linda remained silent.
She increasingly realized that Elizabeth had a sharp tongue and was not to be trifled with.
As soon as Elizabeth finished speaking, Owen chimed in, "Do you think my family has fallen and lost its power? How dare you bully me! Even at my worst, defeating you people would be as easy as crushing ants! All of you are jealous of Elizabeth! Which one of you has seen anything dirty between Elizabeth and me? You are so jealous that no man wants you. If you run into a male acquaintance on the street and have a conversation with him, does that mean you have an improper relationship with him?"
A group of women, scolded by Owen, didn't dare to speak.
Owen still didn't seem to want to stop, "If I see you bullying Elizabeth again, I'll gouge out your eyes! I mean it!"
Seeing Owen's vicious demeanor, several female employees in the design department were almost scared to wet their pants. Everyone in Sunwillow City knew that Owen had a domineering relative, Alexander, whom no one dared to provoke. Even if the Tudor family had declined, how bad could Owen's situation be?
So at this moment, even though they were scolded by Owen, no one dared to speak.
Owen, on the other hand, looked calmly at Elizabeth, saying, "You should answer the phone."
Elizabeth then realized, saying to the receptionist, "You can transfer the call to me."
The receptionist quickly ran off.
Soon, Elizabeth's desk phone rang. She picked it up and answered, "Hello, who is this?"
"Elizabeth, it's Simon," Simon said on the other end.
Elizabeth didn't immediately recognize Simon's voice, because he seemed to have a cold and sounded very nasal. Elizabeth asked, "What's wrong with your voice?"
She didn't want the company to know that she had unclear relationships with Owen, Robert, and now Simon, which would make things even more complicated for her.
Simon laughed on the other end, "I've never stayed in the North for so long. The weather here is too dry, and my throat has been inflamed for several days. How are you doing at the company, Elizabeth? Since you got hired, my grandfather fell ill and has been receiving treatment in Pariz, so I haven't been to the company. Are you adapting well? By the way, why is your phone off? I had to call your desk phone."
Elizabeth replied, "I'm doing well. I really like this job, thank you. My phone isn't off; it ran out of battery, and I didn't bring my charger. I thought no one would call me, so I planned to charge it at home. I didn't expect you to call."
"Glad to hear you're doing well. Keep up the good work. If you have any difficulties, let me know." Simon said on the other end.
"Okay, thank you." Elizabeth politely thanked him.
"I'm in Pariz. Is there any gift you want? I'll bring it back for you. A limited edition Hermès? Perfume? Or something else? I don't really know what girls like." Simon's tone towards Elizabeth was like that of a brother doting on his sister.
Elizabeth felt a fleeting warmth in her heart but quickly declined, "No, thank you. If there's nothing else, I'll hang up now."
Simon said, "Alright, get back to work." With that, he hung up the phone.
After hanging up, Simon muttered to himself, "Elizabeth, you're a very disciplined girl. You won't easily accept things from others, but I'll give you a surprise. For the past six years, you had Samuel, a kind and loyal brother, taking care of you. From now on, I'll take over from Samuel. Don't worry!"
Of course, Elizabeth couldn't hear Simon's words.
After hanging up the phone, Elizabeth looked up at Owen, "Mr. Tudor, we just talked at the café yesterday. What do you need from me today?"
"Elizabeth, good news. I've found out about Samuel." Owen said excitedly.
Just last night, after arguing with Elodie, Owen went out drinking in a fit of anger. While drinking, he overheard a conversation between a man who seemed to be a doctor and his companion.
The doctor said, "I didn't expect that hospital's medical level to be so high. I want to work there, but I can't get in."
"Which hospital? What hospital?" the other man asked.
"The Advanced Neural Simulation Specialty Hospital," the doctor said.
The other man replied, "That's impossible!"
"Of course not! I even saw a patient from Sunwillow City there. He's a wealthy man named Samuel Bell. For some reason, he became paralyzed due to nerve issues. After using a substitute, he could stand up. Before I left, he could even take a few steps. He's undergoing rehabilitation now."
The other man fell silent.
Owen, who was drunk nearby, also fell silent.
He immediately sobered up.
Then he grabbed the doctor's hand and kept asking, "Excuse me, where is Samuel? Tell me!"
The two doctors were so scared that they ran away.
As they ran, they shouted at Owen, "Madman! You're a madman!"
Owen had no choice. After the two men left, he quietly followed them in his car. It turned out that the two men were romantically involved and went to a hotel together.
Owen followed them all night and into the next morning.
It wasn't until the afternoon that the two men left the hotel. The doctor who knew where Samuel was went to work at an orthopedic specialty hospital after saying goodbye to the other man.
Owen followed the doctor to his office and saw his name. Only then did Owen take out his phone to call Elizabeth.
But Elizabeth's phone was off.
With no other choice, Owen rushed to find Elizabeth without wasting a minute.
When Elizabeth heard Owen mention Samuel, she immediately forgot all the rumors, grabbing Owen's hand excitedly and saying, "Owen, what did you say? Say it again. You have news about Samuel? Where is Samuel? Is he in the country? Where is he? Take me to see him. I want to see him now!"
Owen remained silent.
