Chapter 267 The Unexpected Call

Seeing Oliver frozen in place, Lila, not far away and still with a mouthful of mud and blood, was also stunned.

What did the letter say? Lila was dying to know.

Even though she was cheating on Oliver behind his back, Lila could never allow Oliver to be even a bit unfaithful to her.

"Oliver, what did it say? Tell me now!" Lila shouted impatiently.

Oliver glanced back at Lila.

In that brief moment, Elizabeth suddenly took out a lighter she had prepared in advance and burned the letter on the spot, looking at Lila with a calm and smiling expression.

Lila grew more anxious, asking, "Oliver! What did Elizabeth's mother write to you?"

Oliver answered angrily, "Nothing!"

"You jerk, are you messing with me?" Lila immediately flew into a rage.

Oliver glared at Lila, shouting, "Who are you cursing at?"

"At you! What did that woman write to you? Why don't you dare tell me? What secret do you have that you can't tell me?" Lila, forgetting to spit out the mud and blood in her mouth, gritted her teeth and pushed Oliver away.

Elizabeth stepped back a few steps, calmly standing aside and watching them argue.

The letter really said nothing.

It was just a blank piece of paper.

After Elizabeth was captured and brought back to Sunwillow City, the moment she heard that Declan had recognized Clara as his granddaughter, she realized there must be some connection. Otherwise, six years ago, Simon wouldn't have always said she looked like his aunt every time he saw her.

Six years ago, Simon said Elizabeth was Declan's granddaughter.

And six years later, Declan recognized Clara as his granddaughter. Could there be such a coincidence?

Elizabeth didn't know, just wanting to test the relationship between the Spencer Family and the Guise Family, or the relationship between her mother and Oliver.

At this moment, by showing Oliver the blank piece of paper and seeing Lila's anxious reaction, Elizabeth could guess that her mother, the Guise Family, and Oliver must have a significant connection.

She had guessed something, but she didn't dare to think about it.

If it were true, it would only make Elizabeth hate Oliver and Lila even more!

But she had no chance for revenge. This afternoon, she didn't even know what her fate would be.

Since she had no chance for revenge, she would just watch Oliver and Lila suspect each other and tear each other apart in front of her.

"Idiot! Can't you see Elizabeth is playing us?" Oliver shouted, pushed by Lila, raising his hand and slapping her.

Lila's face instantly swelled up.

Oliver was already in a foul mood today. He had come back to find something needed at the company and had called Lila in advance, fearing she was out playing mahjong. Lila had come back, but somehow, she reeked of a fishy smell.

The thought made Oliver inexplicably furious that Lila might have been too close to some sleazy old men at the mahjong table.

He hadn't even gotten angry at Lila yet, but this idiot had already started yelling at him.

Lila had fallen for Elizabeth's trick.

Stunned for a few seconds by Oliver's slap, Lila then went berserk, kicking, biting, and tearing at Oliver.

Oliver was also furious, grabbing Lila's hair and throwing her aside.

When it comes to a real fight, can a woman ever beat a man?

Especially since Lila was quite plump.

She hadn't even grabbed Oliver before he kicked her hard. Lila fought back, only to have Oliver yank out a large chunk of her hair, causing her scalp to bleed.

Eventually, Lila was beaten black and blue and didn't dare move.

"Get back home!" Oliver shouted, viciously kicking Lila in the waist.

Lila didn't dare say anything, crawling and stumbling back home.

As she staggered away, Lila shot a hateful glance at Elizabeth.

Elizabeth stood calmly and watched the whole scene, showing no joy or sorrow, no expression at all.

Even when Lila glared at her, Elizabeth remained expressionless.

Watching Lila leave, Oliver then turned to Elizabeth with a face full of resentment.

"Don't try to hit me like you hit your wife," Elizabeth said calmly. "If you dare touch me, I'll stab you to death!"

Oliver was silent.

Elizabeth showed no anger or gritted teeth.

But her calm words made Oliver feel a certainty that she wasn't joking about stabbing him to death.

"Curious why I haven't made a move against you?" Elizabeth asked.

Oliver remained silent.

Elizabeth explained, "Because I don't know what my fate will be this afternoon. I have to admire your daughter's ability. Even though she's in Pariz, she can unite the elites of both Pariz and Sunwillow City to deal with me alone. If I die at their hands this afternoon, I might regret not killing you and your wife now. But I still hope to live. Even if I'm skinned alive and tortured until I have nothing left, as long as I can live to see my daughter grow up, I'll be happy. If I survive, I definitely can't kill you. Because I don't want to go to jail again."

Oliver was silent. When he heard her say that as long as she could live, even if skinned alive, she wanted to see her daughter grow up, his heart suddenly felt a stabbing pain.

"Oliver, have you ever had your own biological child?" Elizabeth suddenly asked.

Oliver remained silent.

"Probably not," Elizabeth said, raising an eyebrow. "Because you'll never know what it's like to have your own child. I hope you have your own biological child so you can taste what it's like for your child to be out there, bullied by others! See if you can sleep at night."

With that, Elizabeth turned and left.

Oliver was left behind, suddenly in tears for some unknown reason.

Elizabeth checked the time on her phone at the bus stop. It was about time for her appointment, so she took a cab straight to the hotel where she had arranged to meet Molly yesterday.

On the way, Elizabeth received a call from an unknown number, "Hello, who is this?"

There was silence for a few seconds before a voice said, "Elizabeth. It's Harper."

Elizabeth was extremely surprised, asking, "Harper?"
