Chapter 79 Tricked into the Private Room
"Sure," Elizabeth said softly. "Where should I wait for you?"
Owen thought for a second. "Meet me at the entrance of your office building."
"Okay," Elizabeth agreed without hesitation.
Owen quickly hung up the phone.
He exchanged a look with Elodie. She grinned and said, "So, you mentioned I have a love rival. Does that mean you're still interested in me?"
Owen smirked. "I know the difference between a woman who's just for fun and one worth marrying. If I marry you, my grandfather would approve. And if you marry me, your grandfather would think it's a good match, especially since Alexander is already engaged. Right?"
Elodie nodded. "Makes sense."
"But you can't stop me from having a little fun," Owen said, slurring his words.
Elodie, also tipsy, replied, "Depends on what kind of fun you're talking about."
Owen just smiled and didn't elaborate. He got up and stumbled over to Alexander, who was sitting at the main table with a cold expression after drinking with the guests. Owen called out, "Alexander."
Alexander looked at Owen's drunken state and said, "What do you want?"
Owen leaned in close and asked, "Alexander, have you finalized your divorce with Elizabeth?"
Alexander stayed silent.
Esme's death, though expected, happened suddenly after meeting the Windsor family. After she passed, Alexander spent seven days arranging the funeral and then three days for Esme's memorial.
Now, it was only the seventh day since Esme's burial. How could he have had time to finalize the divorce with Elizabeth?
Originally, Alexander and Clara's engagement party wasn't planned so soon, but Clara's health was always poor, and Marcus kept pushing Alexander. He said that right after Esme's seventh-day memorial, they could get engaged immediately.
Marcus couldn't wait another day.
So, Alexander went along with Marcus's wishes and chose today for the engagement party.
He planned to finalize the divorce with Elizabeth on Monday.
There was no conflict since he and Clara were only getting engaged, not married.
Even if he committed bigamy, who could stop him?
But what did Owen mean by asking this now? Alexander said with no expression, "Not yet. It doesn't conflict with my engagement ceremony today. Elizabeth and I were only married by agreement to comfort my mother. I'll finalize the divorce with her on Monday. Why do you ask?"
Owen smiled. "Just wanted to confirm that you no longer consider Elizabeth your wife, right?"
Alexander stayed silent.
Owen continued, "I knew it, Alexander. You never considered her your real wife. I know that. Alexander, you've finished your drinks, and the engagement party is almost over. I'll be leaving now."
With that, Owen quickly pulled Elodie away.
Alexander had a nagging feeling that Owen's question about the divorce had a deeper meaning.
Elizabeth had been tangled up with Wesley and Owen these days; she had been quite busy!
Watching Owen leave, Alexander's eyes grew even darker. The engagement party had started simply and ended even more abruptly. Alexander only asked Gavin to take Clara back to his place, and then he drove off alone.
Leaving Clara, who had just gotten engaged, feeling a bit down.
But then, a wave of happiness washed over her. Being engaged to Alexander was different. In the past, he never let her into his place, but now he had Gavin personally take her there, instead of sending her back to the Guise Mansion.
Did that mean she could now share a room with Alexander and go out together?
Clara happily got into Gavin's car and left the engagement hotel.
Meanwhile, Alexander was driving aimlessly, not sure where to go.
At the same time, Elizabeth had already arrived at her office building. Just as she was about to call Owen, his call came through. "Elizabeth, I'm swamped here. Can't pick you up. Can you grab a cab over?"
Elizabeth replied, "Of course, Mr. Tudor."
Owen picked up on the gentleness in her tone and teased, "Are you really willing to be so good to me? Willing to do anything for me?"
Elizabeth's smile softened. "Mr. Tudor, do you doubt my sincerity? Let me say it again; I'm willing to do anything for you. Whatever you ask, I'll do, even if it means giving up my life."
Owen laughed. "I never expected that you, who usually look so indifferent, would be so enthusiastic when you get flirty."
Elizabeth stayed silent.
She knew he had a sharp tongue and often said hurtful things without thinking, but when he called her "flirty," it still stung her pride.
Elizabeth was never one to be flirtatious.
Owen couldn't see Elizabeth's reaction and continued, "But I guessed it. Your reaction is just as I expected."
Elizabeth didn't understand what Owen had guessed. She patiently asked, "Mr. Tudor, where should I take the cab to? Give me the address."
"The largest private room on the top floor of the Royal Spirits Lounge," Owen said.
Royal Spirits Lounge?
Elizabeth had heard of the place but had never been there.
She only knew it was a playground for the rich. Owen, being wealthy, must frequent it. Elizabeth said, "Okay, I'll take a cab right away."
After hanging up, she called a cab and headed straight to the Royal Spirits Lounge.
On the way, she kept mentally preparing herself.
Meanwhile, Owen and his best friend Samuel were smoking cigars outside the private room.
"Owen, isn't this a bit much?" Samuel advised.
Owen grinned mischievously. "Samuel, don't tell me you've fallen for her? If you have, I'll give her to you for free!"
Samuel stayed silent.
"I'm telling you, I won our bet. Samuel, get ready to hand over that $5 million sports car from your garage! You know how obedient and passionate she is towards me now?" Owen flashed a victorious smile at Samuel.
Samuel smiled faintly.
They stubbed out their cigars and pushed open the door to the private room.
Inside, the room was filled with noise and laughter, very lively.
Half an hour later, Elizabeth arrived by cab, took the elevator to the lounge, and followed the staff's directions to the largest private room.
As she pushed the door open, Elizabeth was stunned.
