Chapter 122 Will You Still Run Away?

Elizabeth fought like crazy, but the more she did, the tighter Alexander's grip got. She was no match for him; even ten Elizabeths couldn't break free from his hold.

Her struggles started to fade.

She suddenly realized it was pointless. The moment she followed him from Collinsport to Sunwillow City, this was bound to happen.

Elizabeth questioned herself, 'Didn't you see this coming? Haven't you always wanted this? For years, even though you dodged his advances, you still held onto hope. You escaped with Alice and Samuel, and Samuel treated you so well, but you only saw him as a friend. You never forgot Alexander, did you?'

Elizabeth stopped fighting.

Right then, Alexander's lips met hers.

Alexander finally felt like he had the real Elizabeth in his arms.

Even though he knew Clara was pregnant with his child, he never wanted to marry her. He was always chasing the feeling of that one night with Clara, but he never found it again.

The girl that night cried and trembled in his arms, pure yet strong and stubborn. But Clara? She was nothing like that.

Clara was flashy and deceitful.

How could she be the girl from that night?

Alexander didn't call off the engagement with Clara because of Elizabeth's outburst. Even if Elizabeth hadn't made a scene, he would've ended it. He had promised Esme he'd marry only once and stay faithful.

Since he was only going to marry once, he couldn't just settle.

And he had already been married.

The woman he married was Elizabeth, the one who gave him that feeling that night.

From the moment he left the wedding, he started looking for Elizabeth.

But it took him six years to find her! For six years, Elizabeth played hide and seek like a mouse avoiding a cat. Whenever he got close, she vanished.

If it weren't for the insider in Samuel's family tipping him off, his careful planning, sneaking into Collinsport, making friends with local thugs under a fake name, and causing trouble through a friend's brother's son in kindergarten, Alexander doubted he'd ever see his daughter Alice and Elizabeth, the only woman he had a real marriage with, again.

He really wanted to punish her!

Even his kiss was so forceful she couldn't resist.

Just as he was about to kiss her until she couldn't breathe, he let go, tossing her into the huge bathtub filled with hot water, almost like a small bathhouse.

Elizabeth had never experienced such a fancy bathtub before. The moment Alexander tossed her in, she felt like she was drowning and frantically tried to climb out.

The showerhead sprayed water right in her face, making it impossible for her to open her eyes. She flailed her arms and screamed, "Help, help!"

She couldn't swim, and with Alexander controlling her, her heart pounded so hard she didn't even realize the water only reached her thighs.

With water, sweat, and tears mixing on her face, she looked utterly pitiful.

Alexander, who had also stepped into the tub, sneered and held her steady. "Look at you! I didn't throw you into the ocean. It's just a small bathtub, and you're this scared. Is it because you can't swim, or are you just afraid of me?"

His breath and unique masculine scent came close, making her heart race.

She couldn't tell if he was teasing, so she answered blankly, "Both!"

"Why are you scared of me?" Alexander asked softly.

Elizabeth stayed silent.

Even though she had a child with him, she hadn't been alone with Alexander since that night. She had lived with Samuel for six years, but their relationship was innocent, like siblings.

Elizabeth had never been this close to any man, especially in a bathtub. How could she not be scared?

"I forgot, you didn't actually see me that night six years ago because it was dark. No wonder you're so scared. But today, you gotta face it. There's no way out," Alexander whispered.

Before she could react, Alexander grabbed her wrist and pulled her into his arms, making her even more panicked, not knowing what to do next.

On the surface, he seemed cold and intimidating like the Grim Reaper, but when he bathed her, he was so gentle and meticulous. For a few seconds, Elizabeth, drowsy from the hot water, even felt that Alexander was nothing like the Alexander during the day.

The relaxing effect of the water soon drained her strength, and she leaned against Alexander's chest.

His deep, magnetic voice hovered in her ear, making her ears tickle, "Elizabeth, we agreed you'd serve me, but now I'm serving you. You haven't changed! You were cunning six years ago, and you still are."

"I... I'm not cunning. Six years ago, I just wanted to marry you and give my daughter a stable home. I didn't want her to grow up like me, always relying on others," Elizabeth cried bitterly.

Her tear-filled eyes met his, touching Alexander's heart. He bent down, kissed her tears away, and softly asked, "Will you still run away?"
