Chapter 184 Elizabeth's Rejection

Elizabeth remained silent. The man in front of her was in his twenties, younger than Owen, looking somewhat familiar.

Like who?

For a moment, Elizabeth couldn't recall.

She stared blankly at the smiling Robert.

"I don't know you," Elizabeth said bluntly.

Behind her, everyone in the company cafeteria was stunned by her words.

Robert!

He was the second-largest shareholder of the company!

Although this company wasn't big,  founded by a few partners together, the families behind these partners were all very powerful.

For example, Simon was the heir of the Jones family.

Robert was a descendant of the most influential family in the northern political center of Pariz. Although his father's position wasn't very high, his youngest uncle, Gideon, was a very powerful figure in all of Pariz.

Moreover, Gideon had a very deep friendship with Alexander of Sunwillow City.

Although Robert's influence wasn't in Sunwillow City, no one in Sunwillow City dared to mess with him.

Even Owen had to show respect to him.

The reason Robert partnered with Simon and others to start this company in Sunwillow City was that he wanted to find some beautiful women in Sunwillow City. To Robert, northern women had rough skin and were generally big and strong.

They didn't have the delicate beauty of southern women.

In Robert's own words, he was ostensibly in Sunwillow City to start a company for fun, but in reality, he was there to date beautiful women.

All the unmarried female employees in the company knew that Robert liked to have fun, wanted to have a meal with Robert. Although he often chatted and laughed with the female employees, he never got involved with them.

Even Harper, who was always looked after by Simon, was treated by Robert as just a friend. Although Harper clearly had feelings for him, Robert never dated her alone.

He was a playful yet distant man with the female employees, from an excellent family background, handsome and charming. All the women in the company admired Robert, and at this moment, he was gently calling Elizabeth's name, which made all the women in the company extremely jealous of Elizabeth.

Dozens of eyes in the company cafeteria stared at Elizabeth and Robert with envy and hatred.

Harper, standing nearby, looked even more upset, like a clown.

Elizabeth remained calm, asking, "How do you know my name?"

Julia, standing next to her, said, "Elizabeth, he's the boss."

Elizabeth heard it.

She just didn't want to get involved with wealthy people from powerful families.

Robert was very patient with Elizabeth, saying, "Every time the HR department hires a new employee, I look at their name and resume. Of course, I know your name is Elizabeth."

As soon as he finished speaking, many female employees around him started whispering to each other, covering their mouths and looking at Robert with dissatisfaction.

Why had they been in the company for three years, and Robert had never spoken to them once?

Why did Robert not even know their names when they greeted him?

This Elizabeth was too lucky!

No, wait!

She was a mistress!

Harper had just called her a mistress.

This mistress!

She didn't seem to care at all about Robert's special attention to her.

Did Elizabeth not care?

She must be pretending!

Elizabeth really didn't care about Robert.

She didn't even look at Robert again. She just lowered her head and continued eating her lunch, only responding with a single word and not saying anything more.

Elizabeth's reaction amused Robert.

"Mr. Lavien!" Harper said angrily to Robert. "She's a mistress! She ruined Elodie and Owen's relationship. She's a slut who seduced Owen!"

Robert looked at Harper impatiently. "Why are you acting like a shrew?"

Harper said, "Mr. Lavien, what did you say?"

She couldn't believe her ears.

Before today, she had been highly favored in the company. The shareholders treated her like a friend, and Simon especially doted on her. But today, Robert had called her a shrew in front of so many people?

Harper was so angry she could have ground her teeth to dust.

Robert frowned at Harper with a look of disgust, saying, "I know Owen very well. In all of Sunwillow City, no wealthy man has more women than Owen. If Owen claims to be second, no one would dare claim to be first! Besides, Owen having a mistress is a private matter for the Williams family. Why are you making a scene in the company? And everything needs evidence! Did you see Elizabeth and Owen together with your own eyes? You keep calling her mistress! If you're not a shrew, what are you?"

Harper's face turned pale from Robert's words.

She was so aggrieved that she was on the verge of tears.

"Mr. Lavien, what do you say?" Harper cried, her tone carrying a hint of coquettishness.

She thought her tears and coquettishness might elicit Robert's sympathy.

But to her surprise, Robert didn't even look at her, just saying, "You're annoying. Get lost!"

Harper fell silent.

Julia, sitting diagonally across, was already stunned, frozen in place for over a minute.

At the same time, all the employees in the company cafeteria were also stunned.

And so were Elizabeth's colleagues in the design department.

Robert had driven away the company's recognized powerful Harper for Elizabeth, a new employee who had just started a day ago?

Oh my God!

Harper had always been arrogant, having offended many people. No one in the company dared to offend Harper for the sake of their salary. Now that Harper was driven away by the handsome Robert, it was truly satisfying.

Elizabeth remained very calm.

Who Robert wanted to drive away had nothing to do with her.

She just wanted to do her job well and nothing else.

As Harper ran out crying, Elizabeth continued eating her lunch.

Julia, sitting across from her, admired Elizabeth immensely. She thought, what kind of friend has Gavin made? A girlfriend?

So impressive!

At this moment, Robert spoke again. "Elizabeth, are you available to have dinner with me tonight? I know a newly opened restaurant that has very authentic steak, good wine, and professional piano music."

Robert's flattering invitation would have charmed any other woman.

However, Elizabeth calmly replied, "Sorry, I'm not available!"
