Chapter 84 The Wedding Dress Elizabeth Wore
Hearing Alexander's harsh words, Elizabeth felt a sharp sting in her heart. Still, she kept a smile on her face and calmly said, "Alright, give me a hundred grand, and I'll be out of here."
"Get out of this city!"
"That's a given!" Elizabeth shot back stubbornly.
Alexander stood up, yanked off his tie, and stormed out.
He was so mad he could punch a wall!
As soon as he stepped out, he saw Gavin hanging around outside the hospital room.
"Why are you just standing there?" Alexander snapped.
"Mr. Windsor, you had an appointment with the bank this morning to withdraw five million dollars from your personal account for Ms. Spencer. The bank has the money ready and just called to ask when you'd like to pick it up," Gavin said cautiously.
"Forget it!" Alexander said coldly, continuing to walk.
"Why?" Gavin asked, even though he already knew the answer.
"She doesn't want it!"
Gavin went silent. He couldn't help but feel sorry for Elizabeth.
'What a fool! Five million dollars! How could she turn that down? She actually said Alexander couldn't give her five million dollars. Why couldn't he?'
'She made a bad call! Alexander never backs out of his own deals!'
Gavin kept these thoughts to himself, not daring to say a word as he followed Alexander.
Alexander got into the car, and Gavin drove out of the hospital. Just as he was about to ask where Alexander wanted to go, Alexander's phone rang.
Alexander picked up, "Hello?"
"Mr. Windsor, hi, we're from the bridal shop. You used our shop's wedding dress for your engagement a few days ago. You mentioned you'd be getting married soon and would use our shop's wedding dress again. We have some new arrivals. Would you and your fiancée like to come and take a look?" The voice on the phone was very polite.
"No need!" Alexander replied coldly.
"What?"
"I'll pay for it, but you can pick any dress you like," Alexander said.
"Will your fiancée be happy with that?"
"I'll cover the bill, just pick any wedding dress," Alexander said impatiently.
"Alright, Mr. Windsor." The bridal shop salesperson wisely kept quiet.
Gavin, driving the car, didn't dare to breathe loudly.
"To the cemetery!" Alexander ordered briefly.
"Yes, Mr. Windsor." Gavin turned the car around and headed straight for Esme's cemetery.
Alexander leaned back in his seat, closing his eyes.
He thought about Elizabeth's refusal.
Five million dollars! She actually didn't want it!
She was really proud and aloof.
Compared to her, Clara was just a gold-digging, low-class socialite.
Alexander's mind kept flipping between images of Elizabeth and Clara. Despite Elizabeth being involved with multiple men and admitting to impure motives herself, what stuck in Alexander's mind was her cold, aloof, yet incredibly stubborn expression.
He kept picturing the scene where she severed Wesley's genitals and raised her arm to shield Owen from the knife.
And Clara?
Clara was the woman who had saved his life and was carrying his child. No matter how much he disliked Clara, he had to take responsibility.
That afternoon, Alexander hung out at Esme's grave for hours. It wasn't until nightfall that he finally left.
The next day.
Just as Alexander wrapped up some company stuff, he got a call from Clara. In her usual annoying tone, she cooed, "Mr. Windsor, I want to go try on wedding dresses. Are you free?"
Clara's voice was not only whiny but also had a hint of resentment.
That morning, bored out of her mind, Clara called the bridal shop to ask if they had any new dresses. They told her new arrivals came in the previous afternoon and that they had informed Alexander.
Alexander had said to just pick any dress.
Hearing this made Clara furious. She yelled at the bridal shop over the phone, "Do you not want to stay in business? For something as important as trying on wedding dresses, you call my fiancé? He's a man; how would he know what looks good on a woman! You should have called me!"
"Yeah, sorry Miss Guise, I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" The staff at the bridal shop naturally didn't dare to offend Alexander's fiancée.
"Listen up! Any new arrivals from yesterday, even if they were sold or reserved, you get them all back! You can only sell them after I've made my selection!" Clara shouted unreasonably.
The bridal shop staff were silent. This was indeed very unreasonable, but they didn't dare to refuse.
The bridal shop staff were taken aback. They never expected Alexander's fiancée, Clara, to be such a rude and bossy woman.
It was truly contemptible.
That morning, Alexander took Clara to the bridal shop as promised to choose a dress. As soon as Clara entered, she arrogantly asked the manager, "Have you retrieved all the dresses that were sold yesterday?"
The manager replied, "Miss Guise, your request..."
"Choose that one!" Alexander suddenly said.
The manager looked in the direction Alexander was pointing and then said, "Mr. Windsor, you have a good eye. I remember you ordered a similar style two months ago. The previous one didn't have diamonds, and the neckline wasn't quite right. This one is an improved version, with the same style but better looking."
"Just that one!" Alexander said coldly.
Clara looked closely and found the dress somewhat familiar. After thinking for a while, she suddenly remembered.
The similar dress was the one Elizabeth wore when she and Alexander had a fake wedding over two months ago.
Clara was filled with jealousy, her hands clenched into fists, her nails digging into her flesh without her realizing it.
But on the surface, Clara still smiled and asked in a sweet voice, "Mr. Windsor, since we've chosen the dress, when are we going to register our marriage?"
Register the marriage?
To register the marriage, he first had to finalize the divorce. Alexander suddenly remembered that he and Elizabeth hadn't completed their divorce yet.
Three days later, Elizabeth was discharged from the hospital in the morning and met Alexander at City Hall in the afternoon to finalize their divorce.
Outside City Hall, Gavin handed a paper bag to Elizabeth and said, "Ms. Spencer, here's the hundred thousand dollars for you."
