Chapter 197 Alexander Teaches Elizabeth Step by Step
Although Alice called him a bad guy, her attitude towards him had become much more affectionate than when she first arrived. Alice leaned close to Alexander's ear, whispering, "Daddy, I once heard my mom talking in her sleep."
Alexander remained silent, instinctively glancing at Elizabeth.
Elizabeth looked at Alice and Alexander with a puzzled expression.
Alice continued, "In her dream, my mom said she didn't want to like you. But I know what she meant; she really likes you!"
Alexander remained silent.
Alice, truly his child, at just five years old, could already understand the actions and words of adults. She was very aware of Elizabeth's feelings, which is why she did such a dramatic thing at The Windsor Manor to defend her mother's position.
Standing outside the car, Elizabeth watched Alice and Alexander chatting, curious, asking, "What are you two talking about? Alice, do you have a secret to tell your dad? You didn't get into another fight at school, did you?"
Elizabeth didn't even realize that when she spoke to Alice, she referred to Alexander as Alice's father, but Alexander heard it loud and clear.
At that moment, he suddenly realized that he had long been ensnared by Elizabeth and Alice, this mother-daughter duo!
Alexander snorted coldly, "You have a good daughter! A daughter who knows how to fight for your rights!"
"Get in the car!" Alexander said.
Elizabeth and Alice got into the car.
This time, on the way home, it was just the three of them, but Alice talked more than usual. She lay in Elizabeth's arms, watching the scenery outside and chattering like a little bird.
Usually, it was Gavin who took Alice to preschool every day.
Even though Elizabeth and Alexander were also in the back seat, it felt different.
Now, Alice felt like she was just like the other kids at preschool, being with her mom and dad.
"Can you and Daddy pick me up every day from now on?" Alice asked.
Elizabeth remained silent, being unable to make decisions.
"If you behave well every day, assemble your toys by yourself, eat properly, and sleep well, I'll consider it," Alexander said seriously.
"Okay! No problem!" Alice immediately agreed.
Elizabeth realized that although Alexander had never educated a child before, he indeed had his ways. He could easily make Alice obedient and well-behaved.
With Alexander's guidance and teaching, Elizabeth, as a mother, felt much more at ease.
That evening, when they got home, Alice obediently ate her dinner without being picky, balancing both meat and vegetables well. After dinner, as usual, Alice and Alexander played in the toy room.
When it came to buying toys for Alice, Alexander was nothing short of extravagant and wasteful. The toy room was as large as a regular room, filled with all kinds of toys.
Toys for boys, toys for girls, water guns, Barbie dolls, fighter jets, kitchen playsets—everything you could think of.
Watching Alice and Alexander play so happily, Elizabeth felt she couldn't join in, so she went back to her bedroom to think about where to find a job the next day. Thinking about how she had been fired after just two days of work, Elizabeth felt a bit unwilling but also resolute, thinking she might not be suited for office design work.
In the five years she spent in Collinsport, she started by doing odd jobs on construction sites. Before that, when she had just been released from prison and was taking care of Esme in the hospital, she often ran around construction sites.
Thinking about it now, Elizabeth felt it might be better to find a job as a technician on a construction site.
It might be dirty and tiring.
But it would be peaceful.
Elizabeth decided that her job search target for the next day would be various construction sites.
The next day.
She didn't tell Alexander about her unemployment because she didn't want him to ask too many questions. She didn't want Alexander to know that she had conflicts with others just two days into the job.
Since she was no longer doing that job, there was no need to mention it.
As usual, Elizabeth and Alexander, with Gavin driving, first took Alice to preschool, then headed to the place where Elizabeth had worked the day before. When they arrived, Alexander said to her, "Get off work early tonight. Don't stay late at the office. I'm taking you to learn how to drive."
Elizabeth nodded, replying, "Okay."
After watching Gavin and Alexander drive away, she got on a bus, rode six stops, and got off when she saw an internet cafe. She spent most of the day there, inquiring about several construction site technician jobs, and then taking the bus back to the original spot.
She waited there for Alexander who arrived early, before five o'clock. Seeing Elizabeth waiting at the corner, both Alexander and Gavin were surprised.
"Mrs. Windsor, why are you off work so early today?" Gavin asked in surprise.
Elizabeth lied, "I went to a construction site today, so I didn't need to go back to the office. I was just waiting here..."
As she spoke, she glanced at Alexander.
For some reason, her face turned red.
She thought about that Alexander was going to teach her to drive today. Would he be teaching her personally?
Elizabeth's reaction made Gavin chuckle, because she blushed so easily.
In fact, Elizabeth's guess was correct. Alexander took her to a driving school, greeting the instructors, and seeing them waiting respectfully outside. Alexander personally taught Elizabeth how to drive.
Although not a professional driving instructor, Alexander's teaching method was far from professional. He skipped all the theoretical knowledge, going straight to hands-on driving.
Sitting in the passenger seat, Alexander taught Elizabeth step by step.
But Elizabeth still couldn't get it.
She didn't know where the clutch was, where the brake was, or how to start the engine.
And she was a bit afraid of Alexander.
"I'm right here with you. What are you afraid of? Just drive boldly. Driving isn't about theoretical knowledge; it's a skill you develop through practice!" Alexander said from the side.
Elizabeth remained silent.
Under Alexander's pressure, she finally gripped the steering wheel, stepping on the gas pedal, with the car shooting forward like a rocket.
The instructors behind them were stunned.
Elizabeth was so scared that she let go of the steering wheel, covering her head with her hands, and burying her head in Alexander's chest like a frightened little mouse.
Alexander remained silent.
