Chapter 192 Replaced by Someone

Elizabeth didn't even glance at Harper, walking straight to the hall, heading for the elevator.

It wasn't because Alexander had told her not to tolerate anything that she was now retaliating in a high-profile manner. Elizabeth was not a competitive person, especially in the company. She couldn't be bothered with someone like Harper, who got in through family connections, having nothing better to do all day.

Elizabeth pressed the buttons for two descending elevators simultaneously.

As soon as one of the elevators opened, Harper caught up, saying, "Elizabeth! Who do you think you are? Just because Mr. Lavien looked at you twice yesterday, you think you're better than everyone else? You're not even as good as a kept mistress!"

Before Harper could finish her sentence, Elizabeth stepped into the elevator.

Harper immediately followed her in.

Elizabeth sneered and quickly stepped out of the elevator, then swiftly switching to the other one. By the time Harper realized what was happening, Elizabeth had already closed the elevator door.

"Bitch! You tricked me!" Harper shouted, hurrying to catch up, but her high heel got stuck in the elevator.

She twisted her ankle, her skirt tearing.

Instantly, parts of her body that shouldn't be exposed were revealed.

Harper was utterly embarrassed.

Fortunately, it wasn't the peak rush hour yet, so not many people saw Harper. Even those who did were too intimidated by her usual arrogance to laugh at her misfortune.

But Harper herself was furious.

She took the next elevator upstairs, went back to her desk, pulled out a spare outfit from her drawer, changing, and then angrily limped to the design department where Elizabeth was.

At that moment, Elizabeth was waiting for Linda to assign her tasks for the day. Director Anna had assigned Elizabeth to Linda, asking Linda to mentor Elizabeth for a week.

But Linda wasn't genuinely interested in mentoring Elizabeth, planning to dump a mountain of tedious proofreading tasks on Elizabeth every day.

However, Elizabeth didn't mind.

For Elizabeth, proofreading was great because it allowed her to see Linda's past design patterns. She could learn from these designs, improving her own skills.

She took a stack of designs that needed proofreading to her desk. Before she could sit down, Harper stormed in.

"Bitch! You made me twist my ankle!" Harper shouted, slamming her hand on Elizabeth's desk.

She had intended to hit Elizabeth.

But in a public setting, she couldn't do that.

"You're really ugly!" Elizabeth said curtly.

"What did you say?" Harper asked, thinking she had misheard.

"You're noisier than a fly, and you have bad breath." Elizabeth's words were brief but highly damaging.

Harper was so furious with Elizabeth that her stomach was in knots. Her fingers trembled as she pointed at Elizabeth, saying, "Do you think Mr. Lavien will protect you from now on?"

Elizabeth didn't even look at Harper, replying, "Didn't you see? He protected me yesterday."

Harper was silent.

The other colleagues in the design department were also stunned by Elizabeth's words.

Although Elizabeth was new and didn't talk much, she had a sharp tongue.

Some colleagues sneered behind Elizabeth's back, "Isn't she just strutting around because Mr. Lavien stood up for her yesterday So arrogant? She doesn't know her place."

"You just wait!" Harper shouted.

She was so angry that she couldn't catch her breath for a while, her lips turning purple. She clutched her chest, trying to calm her anger, and then limped out of the design department.

"Do you think you're so great?" Linda mocked Elizabeth with a cold laugh from behind.

Elizabeth pretended not to hear.

During the proofreading process, she had discovered some issues with Linda's designs.

Her design style was very glamorous. At first glance, it was particularly eye-catching, giving a very comfortable feeling. However, the architectural design was different from fashion design.

If architectural design only considered glamour but not stability, it posed a significant risk.

Didn't someone as experienced as Linda understand this?

Elizabeth looked up at Linda.

She was gossiping with a few colleagues, "Elizabeth, do you really think that just because Mr. Lavien protected you once yesterday, you've made it? Mr. Lavien rarely shows up at the company. He might not come even once a week or a month. Even if he comes to the company today, I bet he won't recognize you. Do you know why he protected you yesterday?"

Elizabeth had originally wanted to point out the flaws in Linda's design, but now she didn't want to. She just looked up at Linda, asking, "Why?"

"Because he's seen too many beautiful women and got tired of them. He wanted something different. When he saw you, a country girl, he found it refreshing." Linda jeered.

The office burst into laughter.

Linda looked at Elizabeth with a grin, saying, "Just kidding. Usually, we play a little prank on new employees like this. Elizabeth, you don't mind, do you?"

Elizabeth smiled slightly, "I don't mind."

"Alright, let's get to work. Elizabeth, please finish the proofreading as soon as possible," Linda said.

"Okay." Elizabeth replied, about to sit down and continued looking at Linda's designs when someone called her from behind, "Elizabeth, come to the HR department."

Elizabeth's heart skipped a beat. Could it be that Harper had complained, and HR was going to fire her?

If so, then so be it!

Elizabeth got up, following the person to the HR department.

It wasn't a big deal. Mainly, she had just started yesterday, and HR hadn't had a chance to go over some employee guidelines with her. New employees had to attend a small meeting that was long and lacked substance, lasting an hour.

But Elizabeth listened attentively throughout.

After the meeting, Elizabeth returned to the design department. As soon as she entered, she felt that something was off. Several colleagues glanced at her secretly but quickly looked away.

What happened?

Elizabeth was puzzled.

But she knew that as a newcomer who had already angered everyone by being favored by Robert yesterday, no one would tell her if something had happened in the design department.

Elizabeth could only be more observant.

With this observation, she noticed something wrong with her chair.

The chair at her desk looked identical to her original one, but it leaned back slightly. Elizabeth, being in architecture, could immediately tell the difference between the two chairs.

This definitely wasn't her original chair. There had to be something wrong with this one!
