Chapter 46 Saving the Day

Owen swaggered up to Elizabeth and said, "Elizabeth, your intuition is really sharp. How did you find out that so many wealthy people are gathering on this cruise ship today?"

Elizabeth didn't respond to Owen's half-mocking, half-sarcastic remark. Instead, she smiled and asked, "Mr. Tudor, I haven't seen you in days. Haven't you been to the office lately?"

"Do you Miss me?" Owen asked smoothly.

Elizabeth replied curtly, "No."

"If you didn't miss me, then what are you doing here?" Owen's question was a bit aggressive, yet carried a hint of nonchalance. "I haven't been to the office because I've been busy with this cruise event. This is a gathering place for the rich and famous of Aldoria. Of course, I had to contribute."

Elizabeth was at a loss for words. She coldly stated, "I'm not here to see you."

"Not here to see me?" Owen looked at the poorly dressed Elizabeth with a smirk, then he teased, "Don't tell me you're here to see Mr. Jones? I have to tell you something about that. You see, because Mr. Jones chatted with you at the Windsor family banquet, the head of the Jones family has already grounded him today to prevent him from meeting you!"

Owen was right.

Simon was supposed to attend the cruise event today, but just as he was about to leave, Declan detained him.

"Simon! You're using the cruise event as an excuse to meet that lowly woman!" Declan said sternly to Simon.

"Grandpa, you told me a few days ago to bring Elizabeth home for dinner. Now you won't let me see her? Besides, with Elizabeth's status, she couldn't possibly be at the cruise event!" Simon looked at Declan, puzzled.

Simon couldn't understand why Declan was being so contradictory.

Declan stated angrily, "I've already met that woman named Elizabeth. She looks nothing like your aunt! Although your aunt left home thirty years ago, I still remember her appearance. That Elizabeth looks cheap, with heavy makeup, clearly a low class woman! And I've found out that Elizabeth will be at the cruise event today, aiming to seduce wealthy heirs like you! I don't care about other people's children, but my grandson will never be with such a lowly woman!"

With that, Declan locked Simon in the study from the outside.

Simon didn't know what had gone wrong.

Just a few days ago, Declan had said to bring Elizabeth over for dinner to meet her in person. How could he now claim to have already met her?

Simon suspected that Elodie was behind this.

Elodie was both willful and arrogant.

Helpless, Simon called Owen, asking him to keep an eye out for Elizabeth at the cruise event.

So at this moment, Owen knew that Simon was also thinking about the poor yet reserved Elizabeth, who would not seize any chance to mingle with the rich.

Elizabeth felt a bit awkward.

Especially in front of Owen, she didn't know how she felt about him. She always felt that while everyone around her wanted to toy with her, Owen, despite his teasing, had given her a sense of warmth.

Elizabeth said lightly, "Mr. Tudor, I need to get to work."

"Don't you think you owe me an explanation?" Owen suddenly asked.

Elizabeth didn't answer but lowered her head and went inside.

She thought, 'What was there to explain?'

After entering the cruise event, she called Elodie, who quickly arrived and led her to a small space in the lower deck, laying out a pile of clothes and pushing a makeup artist towards her.

Elodie said, "Here are the clothes, and the makeup artist is at your disposal. When you make your appearance, the guests will decide your look. Of course, they won't ask for anything too outrageous. The looks they want are all in this pile of clothes. Work hard, and I hope you make a hundred thousand dollars tonight!"

With that, Elodie walked away with a grin.

Elizabeth sat alone in the lower deck cabin, looking at the pile of clothes. Each piece was outrageously tacky.

The main issue was that each piece had very little fabric. Just looking at the pile, Elizabeth could imagine how vulgar and scandalous she would look in them.

After a pause, she chose a relatively conservative school uniform.

In this outfit, paired with the makeup artist's cheap and seductive makeup, Elizabeth came out holding a tray and ran into Elodie.

Elodie looked her up and down, then patronized, "I knew you'd go for the innocent look, but think about it. Who's going to tip you if you look innocent?"

With that, Elodie led Elizabeth to a group of wealthy men and women holding wine glasses. "Let me introduce you to our entertainment for the evening, Miss Spencer. Miss Spencer is a true chameleon. You can choose her next outfit and pose. Just remember, nothing inappropriate. We're civilized people here."

Someone exclaimed, "Great!"

Another cheered, "This game is exciting!"

One chimed in, "This is going to be fun."

Elodie kindly reminded them, "Remember to tip. Miss Spencer lives off tips."

"If she performs well, tips won't be an issue. Let's see if Miss Spencer can let loose!" someone shouted.

These wealthy men and women, usually restrained by their elders, had few opportunities to let loose. Now, seeing Elizabeth willingly walk into their midst, they were eager to have some fun.

Their suggestions were highly insulting but within the rules, causing no real harm.

Not far away, Owen stood by the railing, watching Elizabeth, who was surrounded and blushing, yet trying to remain composed. Owen said to Samuel, "Elizabeth is really going all out for money tonight. What a shame."

"A shame?" Samuel asked.

"I wanted to mess with Elizabeth, but that bitch Elodie got to her first!" Owen said, disappointed.

Samuel remained silent.

Owen stroked his chin and said, "Samuel, do you think I should rescue Elizabeth tonight to make her like me more?"

Samuel laughed, saying playfully, "I think it's a good idea!"

As they spoke, Samuel glanced over and suddenly said, "Owen, look!"

Over there, surrounded by the crowd, Elizabeth was unable to escape.

"What's wrong with you? If you're here, you have to perform! If you ruin our fun, you'll pay for it!"

Elizabeth was in a dilemma.

"Rip her clothes off! Stop pretending!" someone shouted.

Owen was about to step in when he saw a man in a suit and tie, with a cold expression, rush into the crowd.

At some point, Alexander had arrived in front of Elizabeth. He took off his jacket and wrapped it around her.

"Mr. Windsor?" someone stammered in fear.
