Chapter 193 Harper's Wail

Elizabeth inadvertently glanced at Linda again, then picked up a stack of proofread documents and walked over to Linda's desk, saying honestly, "Linda, these are the ones I've proofread for you."

Linda took the documents in a daze, looking at Elizabeth.

Elizabeth continued in a simple tone, "Linda, I'm going to have lunch first. I'll come back to review after eating. There are fewer people dining now, which will prevent the people of the company cafeteria from gawking at me later."

Linda sneered, "Elizabeth, you've gotten smart."

Elizabeth smiled slightly, "In the workplace, I have to learn to adapt. I'm off to lunch."

Without waiting for Linda to say anything, Elizabeth turned, leaving the design department.

Behind her, a group of people in the design department immediately started chatting.

They all had expressions of regret for missing the show.

"Looks like Harper's plan didn't work again."

"What's the rush? Elizabeth hasn't figured out the problem yet. She just wants to have lunch early. When she comes back after eating, we'll see the show."

"Isn't Harper going too far?" one person said worriedly.

"What are you afraid of? It's not us teaching her a lesson! She offended Harper as soon as she arrived."

"If something happens, we'll be guilty of knowing but not reporting."

"Let's not discuss it. Just pretend we don't know. We can't afford to offend Harper anyway."

The few employees in the design department finally shut up simultaneously.

They all glanced at that chair, just hoping the trouble wouldn't come to them, still thinking about seeing Elizabeth's joke.

However, Elizabeth said she was going to the company cafeteria for lunch, but she didn't actually go. She went upstairs to the administration department, calling Julia out.

"What's up, Elizabeth?" Julia looked at Elizabeth, asking, "Elizabeth, why are you still dressed so simply today? You're not bad-looking at all, much prettier than Harper, and prettier than many girls in our company. You should dress up nicely, maybe even get Mr. Lavien to pursue you, and then piss them off. I hate it when they bully new employees. What's so great about them!"

Elizabeth smiled, "Aren't you afraid they'll ostracize you for siding with me?"

Julia said, "I don't care, I'm not afraid."

Elizabeth felt a warmth in her heart.

Actually, as long as she opened her heart, she could make friends anytime, anywhere.

"By the way, Elizabeth, what's going on?" Julia asked again.

"Can you help me ask the security in the monitoring room to let me see the surveillance footage of my office?" Elizabeth asked somewhat hesitantly.

Julia was surprised, asking, "What's wrong, Elizabeth? What happened?"

Elizabeth shook her head, saying, "I'm just suspicious right now. I need to see the surveillance footage to know what happened. Can you help me get to the monitoring room?"

"Let's go!" Julia agreed, pulling Elizabeth along.

Outside the monitoring room, she pulled Elizabeth away quickly.

"What's wrong?" Elizabeth asked.

"First, give the security guards a pack of cigarettes. It's better to ask them for a favor this way." Julia said.

Elizabeth immediately nodded. They went to a convenience store, bought two packs of high-end cigarettes, and then went to the monitoring room. Seeing Elizabeth and Julia arrive, the security guard politely asked, "Is there something we can help you with?"

Elizabeth politely said, "Sir, I'm a new designer. I was helping our senior designer proofread some things. I have a small device that I don't know where I dropped it. I want to ask if I could check the surveillance footage to see where it fell."

As she spoke, Elizabeth handed them the two packs of cigarettes, saying, "Thank you, sir."

"No problem, it's a small matter. This doesn't involve privacy. You can check the surveillance footage of your position," one security guard said politely, with the other nodding in agreement.

Elizabeth and Julia smoothly accessed the surveillance footage. Elizabeth focused on the hour when she was called to the HR department, starting from the beginning. Sure enough, within ten minutes, she saw it.

Fifteen minutes after she was called to the HR department, Harper carefully pushed a swivel chair to Elizabeth's position, then took Elizabeth's chair away.

When Harper took Elizabeth's chair away, she did it casually and quickly, no longer as careful as when she came.

"Why did she switch your chair?" Julia asked, puzzled.

"I want to know too," Elizabeth said.

Leaving the monitoring room, Elizabeth went straight back to the design department. At this time, there was no one in the design department; they had all gone to lunch.

That was good.

No one saw it, which was best.

Elizabeth, imitating Harper's careful manner, pushed the swivel chair upstairs to Harper's office area. Julia had already pointed out Harper's position to her.

Switching the chairs, she pushed Harper's original chair to a hidden corner, then waited for Harper to return.

Harper walked into her office with a few colleagues, laughing and chatting. In Harper's office area, all the colleagues usually acted according to her mood.

When a few colleagues who often flattered Harper saw Elizabeth standing honestly in front of Harper, they laughed, "Harper, this Elizabeth is here. She thinks she's Mr. Lavien's girlfriend just because he looked at her yesterday."

"She must be here to confess to you." One colleague said.

"Definitely, look at how scared she is." The other one agreed.

"She chickened out so quickly, how boring," Harper said disappointedly, then sneered, "Even if she chickened out, I won't let her go! She's a homewrecker between Elodie and Owen!"

Harper walked up to Elizabeth, saying, "What do you mean? By the way, how are you standing here unharmed? I thought you wouldn't be able to stand."

Elizabeth calmly said, "Why are you calling me homewrecker?"

Harper said, "Because you seduced Owen!"

"Did you see it with your own eyes?" Elizabeth asked.

Harper was silent.

"Then you didn't see it with your own eyes," Elizabeth said again.

"I heard it from Elodie! She said you seduced Owen, and you've been doing it for six years!" Harper said through gritted teeth.

Elizabeth's tone was extremely calm, "Owen has been pursuing me for six years, and I don't want him! Elodie picked up a bargain. Go back and tell Elodie, if you call me homewrecker again, I'll take Owen back. Do you believe I can call him right now and make him dump Elodie?"

Harper couldn't believe her ears. Elizabeth was so arrogant.

Even Harper's colleagues were stunned.

Elizabeth wasn't here to admit defeat but to confront Harper.

Oh my!

The show was about to start.

Everyone was waiting for Harper to slap Elizabeth in anger.

However, Harper picked up the phone on the desk, dialing while sitting down.

She hadn't finished dialing a number when she let out a loud wail, "It hurts so much."
