Chapter 153 Spoiled by Him Like a Princess
Laura was thrown out.
After getting into a taxi, the drunken Laura called Dominic's wife, Katherine Lavien.
On the other end, Katherine eagerly asked, "Laura, how did it go? Did my husband get to talk to Alexander?"
Laura slurred her words on the phone, "That damn Elizabeth! She's such a bitch!"
After saying that, Laura hung up, falling asleep in the taxi.
Keeping silent, Katherine took out her phone, calling Gideon who was drinking with Alexander when his phone rang. He glanced at the number and then at Dominic, who was sitting nervously alone. Gideon handed the phone to him, saying, "It's your wife."
Dominic took the phone, went outside. Once there, he said to the receiver, "Katherine, what are you doing!"
Katherine started cursing, "Dominic! You bastard! I got you such a good opportunity to integrate into Gideon and Alexander's circle, and you blew it! You actually got involved with Elizabeth! Hasn't Samuel suffered enough because of her? And you still want to get involved!"
Dominic was also furious, shouting, "You short-sighted woman! I must have been blind to marry you! Of all the women you could have chosen, you picked that bitch Laura to be my date! Just wait till I get home!"
Dominic angrily hung up the phone.
When he went back inside, he wore a forced smile, but no one paid him any attention. Even Gideon didn't give him much respect.
Dominic felt completely like an outsider at this small gathering.
At that moment, the woman next to Caspian, Rebecca Turner, raised her glass and said to Elizabeth, "Ms. Spencer, a toast to you."
Elizabeth, blushing instantly, had never been treated so politely before, not knowing how to react. Just as she was about to raise her glass, Alexander stopped her, "She doesn't drink; I'll drink for her."
With that, he picked up the glass next to Elizabeth, downing it in one gulp.
Rebecca smiled, "Alexander, you really protect your wife."
Blushing even more, Elizabeth clasped her hands together, not knowing where to put them. Alexander raised his hand and called the waiter waiting outside the private room, "Bring her a cup of milk."
"Yes, sir." The waiter responded.
The milk was quickly brought in, Elizabeth felt much better after drinking it.
After drinking the milk, Elizabeth relaxed a lot. The four men were discussing topics about economic trends and future developments, which Elizabeth didn't understand at all.
From time to time, the other three men would raise their glasses to Elizabeth, toasting together.
No one asked Elizabeth to drink alcohol anymore.
There wasn't even the teasing she had imagined.
It was as if she really was Alexander's girlfriend or fiancée.
During a break, Alexander and Caspian discussed some matters, while Calvin and Gideon started talking to Elizabeth.
"Elizabeth, you made Alexander search for you for six years. During that time, he didn't even keep in touch with me, his best friend," Calvin said, looking at Elizabeth with a hint of annoyance.
On the other side, Gideon said, "Elizabeth, have you ever thought about getting back into architectural design? I've seen your work; it's quite good. I have a villa that needs to be built on a hillside soon, and I'd like you to design it. Are you interested?"
It was interesting for Elizabeth to talk about architectural design.
She had initially not wanted to speak because she couldn't find an opening and felt out of place.
But when Gideon mentioned architectural design, Elizabeth couldn't hold back.
Everyone needs some pursuit in life.
Even if she was already in a quagmire!
Elizabeth smiled slightly, "Can I still work in architectural design?"
"Why not? Haven't you thought about finding a related job?" Gideon smiled.
Can she still find a job?
Elizabeth shook her head sadly.
"If you don't try, how will you know you can't find a job?" Gideon added.
Elizabeth bit her lip, seemingly hesitating.
Alexander finished his conversation with Caspian and returned to Elizabeth's side, checking the time and saying, "It's getting late."
Getting late?
Elizabeth's heart suddenly tightened.
It was time for them to part ways. Who would Alexander hand her over to? Gideon who had talked to her the most?
Or the scar-faced Calvin?
Elizabeth didn't know, just keeping her head down, as if she were a cold, heartless robot.
Alexander put his arm around her and stood up, saying, "Let's call it a night. I have a kid at home; I need to get back early."
"Goodbye, Elizabeth. Let's get together sometime for a spa day," Nicole warmly said to Elizabeth.
Rebecca and another woman chimed in, "We can get together for a game of poker sometime."
Nicole laughed, "Elizabeth is an architect. Once she gets busy with work, she won't have time for poker. But Elizabeth, we can still go shopping and have afternoon tea on weekends, right?"
With that, Nicole looked at Alexander, asking, "Alexander?"
Alexander replied, "As long as she's happy." With that, he put his arm around Elizabeth and started walking out, saying, "Goodbye for now."
As Alexander left, the people left inside exchanged glances.
Nicole said, "Who said Alexander brought back an enemy from afar? It looks more like he brought back a princess."
Caspian, who rarely spoke, said, "Is Alexander serious about her?"
Gideon replied, "I told you, but you didn't believe me!"
Calvin asked, "What's the deal with Clara?"
Gideon sneered, "Clara? She's probably nothing!"
Calvin was silent.
Meanwhile, Alexander had already walked out of the private room with Elizabeth, through the lobby, and to his car.
It wasn't until Gavin opened the car door that Elizabeth realized that what she had imagined hadn't happened.
Alexander had taken her out again.
Seeing Alexander get into the car, Elizabeth anxiously grabbed his clothes and said, "Aren't you going to let me accompany your friends? Then why did you bring me along today?"
She didn't understand.
So she was anxious.
Gavin, in the front, was silent, visibly seeing a fire rising above Alexander's head.
Sure enough, Alexander said, "Do you think you've learned how to serve men?"
