Chapter 260 Just His Plaything
"Are you at the Lavien Manor?" Elizabeth asked calmly.
Alexander didn't answer the question but instead asked Elizabeth, "Where's Alice?"
"She just fell asleep," Elizabeth replied.
Alexander then said, "Take good care of her. I'll be back ASAP. Tell her I'll bring her a truckload of toys!"
"Okay."
"Is something wrong?"
Alexander wondered, why was she calling so late?
Just a moment ago, he had checked the surveillance to see how they were doing at home.
When he wasn't home, Alice was very well-behaved and even showed concern for Elizabeth from time to time. That considerate look made him chuckle while watching the surveillance video.
Alice's personality was surprisingly similar to his.
After seeing Elizabeth gently coax Alice to sleep, he turned off the surveillance video.
He had originally planned to see when Elizabeth would go to bed. If he found out she was staying up late to draw, he would call and order her to go to bed early. However, before she even left Alice's room, Declan called for Alexander from the hospital room.
Alexander had to turn off the video.
Declan just casually called out. When he saw Alexander come in, he was relieved, saying, "Alexander, it's really kind of you to fly all the way from Sunwillow City to see an old man like me."
Declan was actually very happy inside.
At least Alexander still showed him some respect and reverence.
He wanted to have a good talk with Alexander.
However, before Declan could speak, Alexander's phone rang.
Declan could tell from Alexander's expression that he was very concerned about the call.
Alexander answered the phone in a gentle tone, "Hello."
The voice on the other end was very soft, but Declan could tell it was Elizabeth's voice.
Their conversation revolved around Alice, but Declan was still angry, and his face darkened because it was Elizabeth's call.
Alexander didn't notice the change in Declan's expression. He continued talking to Elizabeth while walking out, clearly not wanting Declan to hear their conversation.
On the other end, when Elizabeth heard Alexander say he would bring Alice a truckload of toys, she suddenly didn't want to say anything more.
He cared for Alice very much, and that was enough.
He made Elizabeth behave and not mention Molly; she had to be obedient and learn to read the situation, especially since she still owed him ten million dollars.Maybe this was just another way for him to torment you, after all, you owe him ten million dollars.
"It's nothing, I just..." Elizabeth couldn't think of an excuse for why she called him.
Alexander's deep voice chuckled, "Just miss me?"
Elizabeth was silent.
At this moment, he could still say something like that?
A sudden sadness welled up in her heart.
Perhaps, in her eyes, he was as important as the world itself.
However, in his eyes, she was just a plaything, a prisoner.
Elizabeth said nothing and quietly hung up the phone.
Alexander was silent, feeling that Elizabeth had something she didn't say.
Just as he was about to call her back to ask if she was okay, he saw several doctors rushing into Declan's room.
Alexander was startled and immediately followed them into the room, where he saw Declan with wide eyes, foaming at the mouth, and struggling to breathe. The doctors immediately gave him some medication and pushed him into the emergency room.
During Declan's resuscitation, Alexander found some time to call Elizabeth to ask if she was okay. Before making the call, he turned on the home surveillance video again.
Elizabeth wasn't in the living room and in Alice's small bedroom.
Her bedroom didn't have surveillance, so Alexander couldn't see. He had to check his own bedroom, but Elizabeth wasn't there either.
Finally, he adjusted the remote camera to focus on the door of the public bathroom outside and saw that the door was slightly ajar. Alexander moved the camera inside and suddenly saw Elizabeth, fresh out of the shower, standing at the sink, taking care of her skin.
Alexander suddenly chuckled!
Elizabeth still had the leisure!
Actually, she wasn't taking care of her skin; instead, she was applying a cooling ointment to her cheek. The ointment was given to her by the kind doctor who had given her an ice pack, which would help her skin heal faster.
After that, Elizabeth put on her pajamas and slipped into Alexander's large bedroom, clutching the blanket tightly.
Meanwhile, Alexander, watching the surveillance, was silent.
Even though it was his own bedroom in his own home, Alexander couldn't keep watching. He immediately turned off the surveillance and didn't call Elizabeth because he didn't want to disturb her sleep.
However, what Alexander didn't know after turning off the video was that Elizabeth wasn't sleeping in his bed; she was crying.
She cried for her own weakness. Despite how he treated her, she still longed for his bedroom, his bed, and even the pure masculine scent of tobacco that lingered in his room. Elizabeth curled up in his bed and thought about a few days ago when he took her to the rooftop, sitting on the swing together.
Elizabeth really wanted to ask Alexander directly, "What is your relationship with Molly? Molly must hold a very important place in your heart, right? Otherwise, you wouldn't indulge her so much!"
But Elizabeth decided not to ask anything.
She didn't want to make herself more pitiful and cornered.
So what if Molly taught her a lesson!
At most, she would be ruined, her reputation destroyed, and she would die being scorned by everyone. What else could happen?
Having figured this out, Elizabeth relaxed and fell into a deep sleep, without any dreams, until dawn.
The next day.
Elizabeth and Alice got up as usual and went to the dining room for breakfast.
Alice, who couldn't stop talking, asked Elizabeth excitedly while eating, "Mom, it's just the two of us this weekend. Can you take me to McDonald's? Every time I ask Dad to take me there, he refuses and says it's junk food. Mom, can we go just this once while Dad's not home?"
Seeing Alice's eager expression, Elizabeth immediately smiled, "Okay, today I will take you to McDonald's. We'll both eat there. I like it too."
"Mom, you're a foodie too," Alice teased Elizabeth.
Elizabeth laughed, "I learned it from you, little foodie!"
As they were laughing and joking, Elizabeth's phone rang, with her expression immediately changing.
She picked it up and answered, "Hello."
